Probably the best ab routine I've seen. So many of these routines put undue negative strain on the lower back. This dissolves a lot of that problem. Thank you. Very excellent demo!

Brilliant. Totally agree - No BS video - no marketing hype! I do think you missed a trick on the very last exercise - the hanging knee tuck/leg raise. If you do middle/side/side ...middle/side/side you get lower abdominals plus external obliques (I do this regularly - it hurts good lol). As for the rest of the workout? Def gonna try it this week! Thank you for your time, energy and obvious discomfort.

I like the very first exercise with the dumbell because it can hit multiple muscle groups and you can easily add more weight for progressive overload.

First and last are most functional and use your entire core and midsection. Great routine. I take my hat off to you for doing that but I'll stick to first and last! Just want to also slip in an exercise that is very similar to the first one. You sit in a chair upright and take a challenging dumbell and just lift it to head height and back down..at controlled pace and you'll feel your entire core worked like you're doing a squat..it forces you to brace the same..awesome and does wonders for helping with deadlifts and squats.. 😊

Agreed. I tried one set and it was easy enough of 10-20 reps. Next time, I will try 30 sec reps controlled, rest 30, rinse/repeat or onto the next. 2-3 sets for a HIIT type routine.

I have compleatly different principles for abs training! Firstly, I minimize the amount of bending the spine. It's not good for the back. Instead of doing many sets, I do only two sets of something hard enough to make a difference. My favorite is hanging leg raises. Slowly, 2 s up, 2 s down, pause 1 s at the highest position. Obliques by heavy steel clubs. For example, a rotational swipe from low to high. I do my push and pull exercises in gymnastic rings. That's simultanously a plank resp. a reverse plank. The "core" is mostly for stabilizing the spine, not for moving it! This works for me, and what's more important: it works long-time, without creating back injuries.

All these ab workouts are limited by poor leverage and individual limb strength. Your abs will get a much greater strength training stimulus from doing heavy barbell squats and heavy deadlifts. The ab strength required to squat your bodyweight is a multiple of the ab strength required to twist around with a 15lb dumbbell. Not to mention the fact that our abs are built for stabilizing the spine, not twisting it around.
