A stuntman knows how to choreographer fights. They don't know how to writer scripts, operate cameras, choose locations and angles, edit,etc. This is just a one in a million chance of a former stuntmen also having the intelligence and talent to make a good movie. So it's very doubtful your average stuntman is going to be able to produce a movie that's the same caliber as JW. lol generally stuntmen would work on some B grade straight to dvd cheesy action movie.

Was about to ask whether you meant Chad or Dave, but then I realized the only answer to that question would be, "Yes." Dave also proved it with *Bullet Train,* *Atomic Blonde,* *Deadpool 2,* etc. We'll start seeing Chad's genius beyond the *John Wick* franchise before long; that he's been brought on to direct *Rainbow Six* makes me more hopeful for that film, because *Without Remorse* was lacking, and I think what Chad has to offer will be a huge benefit to the sequel.

In the final fight with Viggo, many people have complained that it was too simple. The reason is that there was an accident while filming. When you see Viggo knocked back into the dumpster, he actually fell into it and gashed the back of his head. They had to stop filming and take him to the hospital. They had to reset the scene the following day and shoot it again and as his head was hurting they simplified the shoot while keeping it a 'John Wick' kill.

54:45 If you'll remember, John''s wife collapsed in the exact same spot you see John walking away from the shelter where he gets the second dog and stapled himself up. She also gave him a puppy at the beginning of the movie. It has been theorized that his wife was a vet, and that is why John knew there were supplies to stitch himself up and where to find them. She brought life and hope to animals. Whereas John brought death and fear to humans. It's really good storytelling.

For anyone who is curious about the deal that John made with Viggo, the deal was he could leave if he promised to eliminate all of the Russian Mafia's enemies and competitors in a single night, which he did and Viggo held up his end of the bargain. John was retired for 5 years but he never told his son who he was, which is why Josef didn't seem to concerned about himat first until Viggo told him exactly who he is.

Its a good scene, though I could've done it better. Hear me out. One part of that whole scene that could've been changed that would have a huge impact on the feel of the scene. That involves Viggo's right hand man. (The funny guy who does those weird insurance commercials.) First off, they shouldn't have made him such a pussy. When Viggo is getting physical with his son, this shouldn't bother him in the least. In his position, he should see that kind of violence on a regular basis. But what's more important should've been his reaction when he hears that Viggo's son actually attacked the legend, John Wick. He should've had a look of total shock and a look at Viggo's son, that says..."Oh my God, what the hell have you done?" Even Viggo's son should've recognized the name...John Wick. In which he sits there in horror, as he says in a trembling voice....."The Baba Yaga?" Viggo: "Yes son. The f**king Baba Yaga. And now he's coming for you." All I'm saying is as big as John Wick is in that world......EVERYONE should know who he is and fear him. But instead, the weird right hand man, just sits there blank face. And Viggo's son acts oblivious and cocky. If they did it my way, it would've been more impactful.

@@googlename3859 Whether or not he is Viggo's lawyer, I don't know. But if he is, he is obviously more than that as well. If he was only a lawyer, Viggo wouldn't have tasked him in gathering men to go and kill John Wick. If he was only Viggo' s lawyer, he wouldn't have the guy driving him around during a time of crisis. As far as the violence thing goes......Viggo is obviously some sort of king pin of the criminal world. Just like the mafia, violence is ever present. It was going on long before John went on his killing spree. There was at least enough violence going on where it shouldn't have been surprising to anyone that is part of that world. Speaking of the mafia, a good comparison would be that the guy might be what is considered the "consigliere".

The actor that had to "kill the puppy" felt so guilty he played with the puppy all day long, before, and after, the scene. I don't think he stumbled into that vet clinic, or drove in there, by accident. I think that's where his wife worked, which explains how she could set up the puppy delivery post death. Also, the last shot, with his and his new beast of dog, is the same spot is wife collapsed at, so it's probably close to the clinic.
@TheDravic

Absolutely not the case. Helen (John's wife) was a photographer. The dog was ordered to be put down, and it was an accident that John Wick happened to be there. The only thing in the ending that has anything to do with Helen is that John and the dog walk by the spot that Helen collapsed at.

For that, John let him live. Like a cat playing with its food before the kill, John spared Iosef that time to show him what’s coming for him. He stared straight at Iosef while he shot the helpless guy on the floor. Bravo Collette, regarding Willem Defoe accepting the job to protect John Wick. Most reactors expected the worst from him. He never shows it on the surface. But inside John is a powder keg who while he can control his rage. The actions he take are driven by sadness which mutates into all consuming rage. What we see in the future is John's temper is his fatal flaw. Once he starts, he doesn't stop til it's finished. It's his version of Tony's Ego, Spidey's bad luck, or Cap's pure ideals. Among other inspirations, the movie was also loosely inspired by what happened to Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell and his dog DASY. Marcus Luttrell is also the Navy Seal depicted in the movie Lone Survivor. DASY was named after the members of his team.

Extra bit - John didn't accidentally "stumble in" to the shelter at the end. It's almost certainly where Helen worked - so he knew where it was, knew there'd be supplies there, it explains where Daisy came from, and why at the very end he's walking with the new dog (saved from being "put down" per the cage door notice, and Keanu's actual dog) on the same walkway where Helen collapsed.

Great reaction! One of my favorite things about this franchise that most ppl kind of miss (but that you caught) is that John has to reload his gun. You can actually count the bullets before he's empty. Almost all movies like this give the protagonist unlimited bullets which is forgivable in cinema I guess, but pretty lazy IMHO

Other franchise with the same character, more than 3 movies: Alien: 4 Karate Kid: 4 (not counting the 2010 reboot. Lethal Weapon: 4 Shrek: 4 Death Wish: 5 with Charles Bronson Die Hard: 5 Dirty Harry: 5 Hunger Games: 5 (note: you specifically mentioned these films so you must have known of this franchise) Ice Age: 5 Indiana Jones: 5 Jason Bourne: 5 (only 4 with Matt Damon playing the title role) Pirates of the Caribbean: 5 Rocky: 5 Scream: 5 Twilight: 5 Jurassic Park: 6 but only 4 with some members of the original cast. Lord of the Rings plus The Hobbit: 6, but only Gandalf is in all 6. Star Trek: 6 (Kirk's crew), 4 (Picard's crew), 3 (more Kirk's crew with modern actors) Underworld: 6 Mission Impossible: 7 Star Wars: 7 movies with Leia, 10 with R2-D2 and C3P0. Harry Potter: 8 (you mentioned this one) A Nightmare on Elm Street: 9 Fast and the Furious: 10 Planet of the Apes: 11 (5 original movies, 3 prequels, 3 reboot trilogy) Resident Evil: 11 (6 live action starring Milla Jovovich plus 5 CGI) Friday the 13th: 12 Halloween: 13 X-Men: 13 (but cast members rotate. For example, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman version) is in 8 of them. The MCU movies: 33 movies but different characters appear in lots of movies. For example, Tony Stark (Iron Man) is in 11 of them. And the granddaddy of them all: James Bond: 27 movies (the actors change but they all play the same guy, James Bond) I'll stop there. I'm sure there's a bunch more. Side note: Just about any of these are worth reacting to on your channel, especially the first one of each franchise - I mean, those were so good that people made franchises out of them.

Let's see, quadrilogies...well, there's the Alien series, the Indiana Jones movies (though most people don't count the Crystal Skull), Beverly Hills Cop before too long, The Expendables, once Ghostbusters Frozen Empire comes out that series will be at four, Kung Fu Panda once the new one comes out, Lethal Weapon, and The Matrix. Hell, the classic horror movie series like Halloween, Friday the Thirteenth, and Nightmare on Elm Street each had more than four individual movies.

One thing not many people catch. The location where the wife feints and where the video is taken on his phone is the same location where he is walking away with the new puppy at the end of the film bringing the film full circle from beginning to end. This is what gives us hope for John to have a new beginning and getting back to his life away from the underworld.

I have commented many times on reactions to this film that the writers and Keanu understand grief and loss very well. There are details amidst the first part of the film that show actions and reactions that are true to life. The primary one is where John is driving his car *at* the truck - in my case it was the abutment of a bridge but I know what was in his mind at that moment ... turn the wheel, put your foot down and this soul destroying pain will stop. And that parting moment when he kisses his wifes's forehead, that really hits me; I did the same thing - I wonder if it is a common thing that we do when saying goodbye for the last time to someone we love more than our own breath?

The philosophy the directors had for this movie was *By stuntmen, For stuntmen* and it truly is that. Lionsgate actually had so little faith in this movie they released the first trailer only a month before the movie premiered, and while it did well in the box office it was pure word of mouth that drove this masterpiece of action cinema. And before this movie was made Keanu Reeves’ career was not doing so well, so in the scene when he says “People have been asking me if I’m back, yeah, I’m thinking I’m back!” it’s so perfectly meta. Also sadly last year we lost Lance Reddick (aka Charon the concierge). Only 60 years old. You were an absolute favorite of mine sir, Rest In Peace.

There"s a rumor that this movie was inspired by the story of Marcus Luttrells service dog Dasy. Some punks came onto his property and shot and killed his dog so he jumped in his truck and went after them while on his phone with 911 until him and the cops basically trapped them. Hence John Wick. Marcus Luttrell is a retired Navy Seal that was featured in the movie Lone Survivor. He was actually on set while they made the movie about an op that went wrong and he was the only survivor. Early Desert Storm war in Afganistan. Very good very well done movie definitely worth a watch when you get time. Very accurate as well as to what actually hapoened and how it went down. He even has a few cameo's in it.
