ADHD + Minimalism go together like peanut butter and jam. I'm so passionate about the topic of minimalism, particularly for ADHDer's because "stuff" can often be our worst distractor. Spending and consuming are also impulsive activities for people with ADHD, and I know quite well how this can cause anxiety and a lot of issues in your financial life.
today I'm sharing my road to minimalism which is kinda messy, but it works for my brain. Since adopting this process and mindset I've turned my financial situation around, and I'm not FIRE (which you can learn about on another podcast).
Enjoy!

@@adhdright2158 Do you do a daily KZfaq search for “ADHD” and sort search results by Upload date? Because I definitely never do that 9 or 10 times daily or twice this morning.

OMG the "I took everything out of my drawers and had a meltdown" I had the genius (sarcasm) idea back in December to pull everything out of my office and bedroom into my main room. I STILL haven't put things back/gone through them and I feel so guilty. So thank you for saying that about Marie kondo not being ADHD friendly... I will say I do like her way of folding clothes though. Putting my clothes like files has kept them neater

LOL... oh, I can relate to this so much. As yourself how you'd feel if you put all that stuff away. Would you feel more focused and organized?

Another video I saw said “stop people pleasing your stuff”. It helped me get rid of a lot which meant my house was cleaner. 😅

I completely understand about the Marie Kondo method! I was super pumped and going to change and I took every single piece of clothing and threw it on the guest bed in my spare room where it remained for at least 6 months to a year!!! I got soo overwhelm with it all. I do love her folding and storage ideas though. .... is there a book of cleaning and organizing for ADHD Adults??

This was fantastic. I have been struggling with this decluttering process and have written in my planner ‘goodwill’ every week. Now I have a plan to actually get the items from the closet and dresser drawers into the goodwill box.

I don't know where I get this quality but it seems like I'm always keeping 'important' items : clothes, documents, books, pictures etc.. , to which , their only use is to occupy space in my apt. Thank you , for the great suggestions . You seem like a real awesome person - good luck with everything !

I wish you would talk about depression and adhd. You need to do all these things but have no desire to do them or can’t get started or just don’t care.

I don't feel like I can address that topic as a coach. Even though I've gone through it personally, it's a medical condition. I really hope you seek help from a Dr. because there are solutions for depression. It's just not my area of expertise.

I will start to clean and declutter one place and then wonder off and start a different place, then stop and watch a you tube video and so on... I frustrate myself until I just have a huge mess with not much accomplished.

I just bought a glossy, coffee table type book from good ol’ Amazon. Looking through it, it looked very familiar. Yup, I already had the damn thing albeit with a different cover. Now I have to bugger about sending it back. 🙄 ‘Sigh’.

I had stuff in the trunk of my car that I berrera to go through after moving for 2 years 😂 I finally purged it, but refilled my trunk with less stuff after finding starting inventory for a business I’m starting. Don’t worry, I already went through a manic unplanned business venture last year. I actually learned from that and am doing a slower, properly researched endeavor that is actually feasible for my skills and schedule. I am going to put a donation drop and inventory check in my schedule right now, thank you!
