Some of these professionals are helpful, providing support and welcome advice. However, others may leave you feeling even more alone when they just don't seem to understand what you're going through.

Yes I had to change lawyers because she wasn’t good as I hoped. I had to stop seeing the marriage counselor since he said he could not work with me or counsel me during divorce. Get good people on your team who believe you and support you.

It's one thing to be gaslighted by your narcissistic spouse and even more devastating when the counselors do it as well. I never felt more alone than I did in my 25 years of marriage to this predatory monster.

I had to go through 3 therapists before I got the right one. Felt so alone and even as if I'm going crazy during my divorce. Still not 100% but getting there one day at a time. Don't be afraid to leave your therapist and look for one that you feel comfortable with and compliments you. Also surround yourself with good friends that will stick with you and not judge you in the bad times

My psychiatrist didn’t get it either. She just handed me a ton of Xanax.

Ugh. Totally not a helpful response (and even potentially dangerous). I’m sorry. I hope you’re able to find someone who listens.

@@lisaarends8742 thank you. It ended very badly. I took Xanax one night because I thought it was the right thing to do and I woke up in the night with the police in my house. I tried to cook and almost burned the house down. I never ate a Xanax again.
