Alex Jones ordered to pay about a billion dollars to Sandy Hook families for defamation and lies spread. The Majority Report crew discusses how Jones has been an extreme right-wing voice that has evoked fear that the government will take away people’s guns and whose defamation of Sandy Hook parents has led them to be subjected to harassment and been disruptive to their lives. The MR crew talks about Jones focusing on selling what he calls supplements and the support of the Right, such as from Steven Crowder. The MR crew compares Jones to Donald Trump who has been signaling to the extremist in his base.

Obviously, the big story today is the billion-dollar settlement or not settlement I should say award to a bunch of these parents who were subjected to Alex Jones repeatedly claiming that they were crisis actors and that it was fake and nothing ever happened there. And it's really important to understand that there's two things going on here with this and I think you know obviously the lawyer can speak to this but he's doing the work of the NRA in this instance. He's doing this he does it obviously to make money but he's also doing the work of the NRA this denial of these mass shootings is comes out of a stoke of fear that the government is coming to take guns away…

The questioning in Uvalde outside of conspiracy theories were based off films taken by people there, official reporting by different reputable groups it was not just claiming "THESE PEOPLE DID NOT DIE" or "THESE ARE CRISIS ACTORS" over and over even when literally every bit of evidence said that was not true

He also publicly demonized and/or demeaned the judge, the jury, the plaintifs and opposing council. Alex Jones is a grifter who was not only aware that what he was saying wasn't true, but was also aware that his unhinged fans were harassing and threatening the Sandy Hook parents.

This is only part of the judgements coming against Jones. These are compensatory damages. There are still punitive damages to come. That will be in the millions too. Experts think this is so much money that he will be watched and hounded for it forever. As stated in the video, there are no caps on damage awards in CT.

If Alex was sensible in the first place he would have stopped with the sandy hook hoax claims the minutes the parents asked him too, and should’ve really pumped the breaks when the cease and desists came out. Mind you this was years he was peddling these lies while selling his bs supplements. If he was sensible he would’ve complied with discovery, so that maybe he had had a better shot at reducing damages instead of refusing and then automatically defaulting to the judgement stage. If he was sensible he would’ve refrained from making memes of the same exact judge that would decide the amount he owes, and acting like an entitled jerk in court, and then skipping out on the rest of the trial because he feels like it’s not going his way. You think that made him appealing to the jury? The court has the right to garnish all his assets. They can go to his accounts and get the money out. They can stake out at his work studio. It’s quite a nightmare when you lose a civil case and you owe money.

@@liliachan3753 Collecting the judgement is a whole different process from winning the case. The court doesn't collect the debt for the plaintiffs. They'll need to file forms with the town and hire collection lawyers or agencies on their own to get their money, and they have 20 years to do so.

There is also such a thing as "with prejudice", meaning a court can not only reject an appeal but also block any attempts at further appeals.

A $965M fine is no laughing matter and that's exactly why he's trying to get his fans to give him donations and buy more of his products. He's going to have a rough time paying all that money.

I'm from the town next door to Sandy Hook. The massacre rocked that town. Waterbury, the city where the trial took place is about 20 mins away from Sandy Hook. A billion is a good start for how much he should pay. Hopefully one day they'll repo his set while he's doing a show and cut the power to the studio and we never have to deal with monster anymore.

Why is he still broadcasting. When a person is caught hacking, they are blocked from the Internet. When this guy is "caught" spreading lies and slander, he is still given a platform to continue.
