If you like a 300 buy one. Quit complaining that the 200 does not look like a 300. I like the 200 better. The 300 looks like a box on wheels.

I just traded my 2012 300 on a new 200 c AWD and love it. Actually loved both cars. My wife prefers the smaller version so she won. My 200C is fully loaded and trade-in value was outstanding. Your review was fair and detailed regardless of your personal druthers. Thanks very much.

I love the fact that the 200 and 300 are styled differently. I'm so sick of lazy styling. This horrible thinking that every car must look directly related. It's boring and I hate it.

You can thank the government fuel regulations, Cars have to be designed to go through the air as efficient as they can for the best fuel mileage as possible to meet these government regulations, that's why they look all the same and 8 and 9 speed transmissions...
@MarsCandyBar
@MarsCandyBar 6 жыл бұрын
Your comment doesnt really make sense... they want to meet fuel regulations specifically for the US, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the way the 200 and 300 models look... the difference in aerodynamics of the 2 models vs the regulations have no correlation... Google the mpg of europe specific cars...

I get the gripes over the rear headroom because of the profile, as you're a tall guy, but the backseat is for my kids, and no one in my family who might ever ride back there is over 5' 10". The rear seat room issues are irrelevant for so many families who shop in this segment, as opposed to auto journalists over 6' and people with tall friends they take to lunch. Many of us just don't care if it's not as roomy as a Rolls Royce back there, because we aren't toting around NBA players; we're carrying toddlers. Cabin materials, tech features, luxury features, soft/quiet ride, and straight-line boom are all there in this car, with the looks to boot and some damn good mpg numbers for the big engine. That makes it the best choice in the midsize family sedan segment for my family, placing our factory for a red 200C V6 the minute I'm home from my deployment.

NavyKings2007 Even at 5'10 the rear in the 200 may seem cramped depending on how long your torso is. Since 5'10 is the average American height for men and the latest generation is averaging 5'11, this is a concern for teenagers as well since 5'11 and 6' tall people sitting upright don't have adequate headroom in the 200 or Fusion. Rear seat headroom is actually the number one question I get from folks with kids, especially pre-teen and teens.

Alex on Autos Touche`, I only have myself and friends/family to go off of(mostly young Navy families with little ones), but you're the guy who gets questions from thousands of car shoppers and does this for a living, so I trust your experiences and sample size far more than my own. It makes sense that the older parents are the ones asking practical questions, most everyone my age just calls each other profane names and insults each other's moms in KZfaq comments. Fortunately, I've got another ~10 years until I have teenagers, which is about how long we plan on owning this car, haha. Thanks for the great review though, you really are the best in the industry at being thorough, and I never finish a series of your reviews with an unanswered question about any details/features.

The 300 is a tacky car that looks like a poor man's Bentley, with boxy styling that belongs back in the 90's. This car exudes class and style from every angle; one of the best applications of the modern "sedan with a coupe-ish roofline" style IMO.
@mountainhobo
@mountainhobo 10 жыл бұрын
It's the opposite with me, Alex on Autos. I would like to see the 300 as the larger version of the 200 in styling, not the other way around. Headroom issue in the back would be solved if Chrysler released a station wagon version.

I test drove one of these while my Jeep was being serviced and was really impressed. The folks in Auburn Hills did a very good job on that car. It drives well and the interior seemed particularly well designed. The change in exterior styling is something they needed to do to set it apart from its predecessor, but I really expected something a bit bolder from Chrysler.

I thank you for doing a review on the 2015 Chrysler 200 C. As always you do an excellent job reviewing autos. I believe you are one of the best out there doing reviews, you should get some reviewer award. I also don't think the new 200 should have been a smaller 300, I believe it would not attract the kind of buyers Chrysler is looking for, especially since Chrysler modeled this vehicle off the current Ford Fusion. Again thanks for the excellent review.

I agree with your 200 vs 300 name comparison. The Chrysler 200 name gives us the impression that it's a 300, but smaller and maybe with less options. I am disappointed at the name but I am pleased with what they did with it. I like the new style departure myself...the look of the rear does leave something to be desired but a Drag Coefficient of 0.27 well justifies it. I love the front, ok with the rear... complete opposite of you. With all due respect.

I like the looks of this car, what a shame we don't have it in Europe. BTW. Front end remind me a little bit of Peugeot 406 Facelit. It is more rounded and much more modern but still I see some similarities.

Great review! I own a 2015 Chrysler 200s and love this car, and so does everyone else judging by peoples comments and second looks. White with the 19" black wheels and sunroof looks best in my opinion. The 3.6 liter V6 is very strong and launches hard from a stop with AWD, and keeps on pulling. In sport mode it revs higher for maximum acceleration and sound. You could use the paddle shifters as well and in normal drive mode the exhaust note is quieter because it shifts earlier and giving the car an overall much more docile feel. There is so much more but I also like the fact it's a Flex-Fuel car. E-85 fuel costs just $2.55 compared to $3.60 for regular where I live now. BTW my previous car was a 2007 Volkswagen GTI with a manual trans. The VW was slightly better at handling however acceleration feels about the same but other than that the Chrysler is better in every other way. Off the line punch the Chrysler definitely wins thanks to its AWD.

I think the new styling is AMAZING all the way round, I love the look of the 19" wheels, the blacked out front end of the 'S' model, and the back end without the spoiler. I don't really like the 300, and in fact, I don't really like any other Chrysler product. This is the only one that caught my attention.

I was also disappointed with the front end styling. The renderings that were shown before it came out looked allot like the Mercedes CLA from the side with the 300C grill and I though "Wow this is going to take on the Fusion in a big way". The way it came out reminds me of a 1972 Plymouth Satellite. It's still a very nice car though. I'm disappointed that Chrysler has changed its position in the market as a mainstream car as apposed to an upscale car going up against the likes of Ford and Toyota as apposed to Buick. I hope as Chrysler grows that they reintroduce the Imperial brand for upper end customers.

***** yea I realized that this feature was available, but Chrysler seems to be pushing the fully loaded without the sunroof. The dealership informed me that I can get that feature, and that it'll just cost me more money (of course). I guess they're trying to get people to save more money, and that's always a good thing in my book.

Edit: I'm finding out there are some options for decent fidelity out there.... Sorry to repeat a comment I posted on the "infotainment" system review, but I am sure I am not the only audiophile for whom this is a significant detail: The omission of a CD player seems to me to be a big minus for the Chrysler. Take a premium sound system and then rely on crappy mp3 fidelity for external music? I don't think that's a good idea. I can't find any easy solution to the problem, and it's nuts that this looks like it will be the reason I buy a Ford Fusion or Mazda6 instead of the Chrysler 200. I was sold on the 200 until this detail surfaced.

That console looks amazing - so well thought through in so many ways. Does the sliding portion feel solid, and will it age well in your opinion? I wish I could swap that in to my current car, I'm that impressed. I agree that the back looks great and I do like the car's profile, but the rear headroom and rearward visibility issues will likely keep me from further considering the 200. Also those headrests and steering wheel look big and dumb to me. I like what you've done in depth-of-field with your camera work, e.g. pointing out the passenger door materials.

@AAutoBuyersGuide
@AAutoBuyersGuide 9 жыл бұрын
I have the Jeep Cherokee review on my channel. The CR-V should happen soon, I hope by the end of the year. I like them both but for different reasons. The Cherokee is bigger, a bit more comfortable, a bit less reliable and with the right options a great deal more off road capable. The CR-V is kind of the safe choice, it is reliable but a bit less exciting.

I find the front headrests of this car very unatractive. They look as if somebody took a shoebox and wrapped it in leather. They should also be adjustible fore and aft, at this pricepoint it is unacceptable . Regarding the styling, do not forget that this car competes in the most competitive segment in US car market. Chrysler could not afford to risk sales with a totally different design. Alex, please reconsider the exclusive trunk test. With all due respect, a grown man looks just wrong peeking from a car's trunk.

I like the design, it's fairly plain but nice looking. This is supposed to be the new face of Chrysler going forward, I just hope they can harmonize this design over all their models because right now Chrysler is disjointed. The C_d is one of the lowest on the road which means you can only do so much for the shape if you're trying to keep drag low, hence the chopped roof-line. Whichever way they choose to go in the future with the Chrysler brand, I think Chrysler desperately needs more models, e.g. small, medium, large cross-overs and a compact car, as well as the refreshed t&c and the all new 2017 300. The other thing Chrysler/Dodge needs is the new hurricane line of 4-cylinders to come out asap.

Drove a 2015 200C as a loaner while my 2014 Camry SE was in the shop (some nitwit rear-ended her). Uconnect 5.0 was a pain in the ass; would not sync properly with an iPhone 5c. Backup camera screen small and not very informative. Seats uncomfortable. Soft ride--maybe the 200S has a firmer ride. Plasticky interior; do not like dial knob for shift. Good climate control, though. Car felt bigger than it was. Shifted well, though why 9 speeds? 4cyl not very peppy, but he's driving a 6

Sorry but Chrysler hasnt hit the nail on the head since it was bought by FIat.
