Are you a Cancer? I noticed a lot of my Leo and Cancer friends who were born in like July and August they're really great at names. I'm horrible at names I don't even remember big actors names and I don't want to. I want to feel like I'm in the show and I have just met these people. But a lot of girls I've dated they're just so good at remembering people's names and the actor's names. In other words it's a personality type thing not every personality type cares about that stuff too much to me it's just a name it has nothing to do with the person or the acting or the show. So I quickly forget I kind of like it that way

Well think logically. It's clear that the father is a honorable man, a Ned Stark type, who values being proper and honest to the best of his ability (and protecting his family is his number one priority). Harvin Strong is a knight, who is considered the strongest man in Westeros. Meanwhile Larys is borderline a cripple, probably mocked and overlooked, probably by his entire family as well, and he is a second son who stands to inherit nothing. If he were to kill his own family, and have the queen as his ally and his accomplice, he stands to gain the biggest castle in Westeros, and a powerful ally he has under his thumb. He clearly is a psychopath as well.

@@7PlayingWithFire7 fair enough, but wouldn't it be fun to see this dynamic play out on screen? It was pretty obvious why Tyrion killed his father, but it was extremely entartaining to see how he got there, arguably much more entertaining then the killing itself.

That's true. However, it is treason for anyone to insinuate that Princess Rhaenyra's children are bastards. Also, there were no consequences when Cole killed Joffrey at the White Wedding. He single-handedly ruined the wedding. Viserys (or Lionel) should have had him jailed for his actions.

@@darkangel15221 there werent consequences for cole for several reasons. First, he was a kingsguard. Second, he could have easily said he was protecting the princess, which in a way he was as joffrey was threatening him with exposing the secret that they had a fling if they didnt protect his secret. Third, the queen was firmly on his side at this point and very easily could have exempted him from consequences in the name of everyone’s safety.

@Raymond Sims it’s not ab that she is still the same Rhaenyra. The first scene she shows she’s still defiant by walking herself with her child to the Queens chambers. It’s more ab the way the actor delivers her lines and her blank expressions.

I think 13 episodes would of been perfect for this season. We would have gotten 2 more with the younger actresses and an extra one in the current timeline we are in.

Great idea, let’s spend more time leading up to the actual dance of dragons instead of showing the darn thing…That’s like saying the War of the Five Kings should have started during season 3 of GOT instead of the season 2, and that Ned’s death should have been the season 2 finale.

Sansa,Jon,Bran, and Arya have all had “dreams” from their wolves perspectives. And if you don’t know the Stark family are direct descendants of the First Men. So Larys being a warg isn’t as absurd as you make it out to be

it's better than the book version; in the book she only makes it to the stairs before Daemon comes for her and brings her back. She wanted to go out her own way. I do agree they should've at least had maybe Laena ASK Daemon to bring her ot Vhagar under the guise of wanting to see her dragon the last time then BAM Dracarys. But other than that it is better than the book.

I really liked Milly, that being said Rhaenyra as a character gets pretty dark/morally questionable, Milly looks and sounds too innocent, we really needed the switch, also the ending of the Dance would destroy me if Milly was still in the cast. 😭😭

Compassion isn't what is weak. It's not understanding that others may not be compassionate and may be looking to take advantage of your compassion or honor. And in many cases it's obvious when someone doesn't deserve compassion, but the person gives them it anyway even if there are red flags all over. Compassion is good when the person who needs that compassion is good/compassionate themselves. It isn't when that person looks are your value as something they can manipulate for their own gain. It isn't weakness so much as ignorance in the expectations others share your values. It's important to learn when to pull punches, and when you simply can't pull them.

Which shows that he does know but he has a brain and can see what happens, so chooses to be blind. His grandchildren will be executed along with Strong and his daughter. Which will damage his house's reputation and with Strong being the son of the hand of the king means the council's reputation will be hurt as well. And with Rhaenyara being his heir to rule the kingdom would ruin the Targareyn name and put their rule into question. Which could cause a civil war to break out to overthrow the king. Which would cause the Targareyns to butcher everyone. This " corrupt king " is trying to prevent a massacre and war.

Ya it does a great job keeping you up with characters and how they change over the years, but still recognizable and not jarring character changes.

@@casual1118 it's pretty jarring, some characters look identical and haven't aged a day, Cole even has the same hair and facial hair, others like Rhaenyra are almost unrecognisably different besides the wigs. Couldn't even get Cole to grow a beard or something? Laena's character changed between 3 actresses in 3 episodes, and then she dies, not to mention her relationship with Daemon had no build up at all, same for Harwin and Rhaenyra. No time at all to even get attached to care about her death, and again, same goes for Harwin Strong who also dies by the end of the episode.

@Raymond Sims I would agree if they weren't already dead now, Harwin Strong could have been a cool character, we don't even know how his relationship with Rhaenyra happened, it's barely even hinted at in previous episodes, the dude gets like 3 lines, first episode he has anything to do and he's dead by the end.

My major criticism for the timeskip is the entire plotline of Daemon murdering his 1st wife was kinda forgotten. Wasn't he alluding to taking her inheritance in the previous episode? Now we just see him suddenly become a peaceful man sick of politicking. I may be wrong and they might go back to this but I just felt it was kinda weird that this wasn't addressed in any way this episode.

Then they’d have to fire Emma as they casted her first. Milly was cast because she looks like a young Emma, not the other way around.

In my opinion, Emma is way better as an actress than Milly, you perceive this way just because Milly played a younger character, while Emma is playing a way more dramatic and mature character. People always complain about everything anyways, the same way they did when Matt Smith was cast as Daemon.

Well the other lords would just undermine the hand anyway, as they would perceive him as being biased, even when he isn't. Also it's best for them to get out of there before it becomes public knowledge, or their whole family would be killed off

They aimed from the start for 3 or 4 seasons. Maybe they weren't sure they ll manage to secure a renewal at the moment and they wanted to reach the beginning of the Civil War by end of season 1 so there is some bang into it. The reason for all these time jumps is to reach the start of the Dance.

Harwin is a very small character in the books his purpose is literally to be a baby maker, same goes of Lanea And no they definitely intend for a season two, cause this entire season is just the prologue.

Why would they not intend for a season two? That makes no sense, they haven't even reached the Dance of the Dragons yet and we're more than half way into the season.

What moments? The crabfeeder for example was just a single paragraph in the 900 page book the show is based on. The majority of the characters in these first few episodes are not at all relevant to the actual main plot. The time jump here actually introduces us to the true main characters, the children of Alicent and Rhaenyra

@@vidmasterK1 Why even bother wasting our time with the character's then? I am kinda torn, since characters like Harlon are clearly integral, him being the real father, but they did very little to grow us attached to him over the past episodes, so he doesn't feel like a character, but a plot device. This show, while I enjoy it, could definitely benefit from some trimming of other characters or events to make room for those that actually matter. That, or just slow everything down and make it longer to fit in everything, if everything show really was required (which it wasn't. A lot of the hunt from episode 3 could've been cut out and replaced)

There will be more than 1-time jump, they were smart for doing that, this will give the public the final actors already in S2, and we will not need to wait another season to start the Dance.

While I think those are interesting things to see. I don't think it's enough to fill multiple episodes. Every episode needs a hook and I just don't think there could be between the time of EP 5 and 6. I think it's quite clear the arc of the show is that of a generational power dynamic. And the time jumps were necessary to tell that story.

The story is about intergenerational conflict. By the end of the series some of the children we've seen will have grown up and had their own kids, when everything is in laid out the first five episodes are going to feel like a pretty small part of the story.

Though I don’t know the story, haven’t read the book, it feels to me like they were speeding towards a point and that they were planning on slowing down at one point. This moment feels like the perfect time to slow down and let us live in the world.

Everyone is basing their idea of the show on hopes and expectations and we should know from watching so many TV shows from these networks in the past that it rarely delivers shall I say season 8 shall I say Disney TV shows. I don't get it because everyone builds this, House of dragon, up so much but it's all based on expectations and hopes. The show should be solid NOW. I agree I would love for things to just be great when the Civil War comes but it's hard for me to believe that it will all work out peachy king.

Absolutely not. Season 6 7 8 didn't imply things happened they just took crazy sharp turns and people teleported, every decision was utter nonsense cause the showrunners were bored of the franchise and ashamed of the fantasy aspects HOTD meanwhile implies things, it has subtext, it says things about the characters without spelling them out to idiots (I guess the exception is with the pin, the whole pin thing is just ridiculous). Apparently they cut a scene where Laena bonds with Vhagar, which is pretty absurd and wouldve been awesome. But at least they hint at her getting that dragon when she talks to the King about him. It isn't that it didn't explain it; Its that they didnt prioritize showing a cool moment like that. If you think Arya, who has NO relation to the Night King, killing him despite 10 years of character building is anything like skipping a few moments that are clear to the audience that they have happened and have had time to happen, then dude you're delusional

You’d rather they waste the 10 episodes they have on shit that doesn’t matter to the main story? THAT would be incredibly stupid. Imagine watching a show about the Dance of Dragons but the dance of dragons doesn’t even start until season 3 when most people already lost interest.

Yeah that's what I felt about this show. The whole first season seems like it's a long prologue for the 'real action' in the rest of the story. My concern is that non-book readers don't actually know what to look forward to and will be confused why things are moving so fast.

All of those things sound like normal changes for people who are growing older and have to deal with the realities of life as opposed to their dreams and urges when they were younger. The only good point you have is about Criston getting off for murdering that guy in front of everyone.

They’re only unimportant to the main story because you’ve deemed it so. There’s no reason they couldn’t be just as important to it. By your logic, people should have lost interest by now since the Dance hasn’t happened but since people keep tuning in to see these young characters, do you not think that means people want to see them regardless of what may or may not happen down the line? When you tell a story well, people will be invested and they would have been just as invested if they took the extra time to flesh these events out properly as they are now with the absurdly fast pacing the show has.
