ABOUT THIS GAME
Summary:
In From the Depths you can build and take first-person command of battleships, planes, submarines, space ships, hot air balloons and more! The game is currently in alpha and contains a wide range of single player content including:
A creative mode allowing you to push your designs to the limit and ensure the total annihilation of your opponents.
A campaign waged over hundreds of islands against eight unique factions.
A Story Mode where you can (eventually!) play 15 missions as each of the eight factions - a fantastic mixture of strategy, design and wild battles! Defend your fleet against waves of enemy forces in a series of extremely tough challenges that unlock new components.
An expansive multiplayer and co-op element is planned for the coming months!
Key Features:
Design and build your fleet, fortresses and structures however you want. The alpha currently has over 400 unique components blocks, not including 29 different components for making missiles, torpedoes, depth charges and bombs.
The sky's the limit, you can equip your vehicle with - cannons, lasers, mines, bombs, missiles, torpedoes, propellers, rudders, jet engines, wings, hydrofoils, hot air balloons, anchors, fire control computers, blueprint spawners, repair bots, air pumps, automated control blocks and many, many more!
Realistic physics - every block destroyed or added affects the vehicle's functionality, physics and control. Drag, inertia tensors, buoyancy and sealed compartments are all updated based on the design of your vehicle and the damage sustained.
Be part of a fantastic community: (www.fromthedept..., with new releases made on average once a week. Community organised challenges and blueprint sharing make it an extremely friendly place to hang out!
Customisable Components:
The customisable components in From the Depths allow a unique level of engineering customisation:
- Design custom missiles, bombs, depth charges and torpedoes by combining various warheads types, fuse types, IR seekers, laser beam riders, laser designators, thrusters, navigation algorithms, fuel pods, sonar seekers, buoyancy compartments and propellers, to deliver a truly bespoke weapon.
- Design custom cannons by combining four different barrel types and lengths with autoloaders, warhead types, ammo boxes and auxiliary components to create everything from AA cannons to howitzers.
- Design custom AI by combing an AI mainframe with 'AI cards' slotted into motherboard blocks. Add radar detection, laser detection and tracking and local weapon controllers to give partial or full control to AI. Create anything from a fully AI controlled aircraft carrier to a battery powered drone.
- Design custom engines using crank shafts, cylinders, carburetors, super chargers, exhausts and fuel injectors. Electric engines, generators and chargers are also available for backup power supplies and drones.
- Similar systems exist for the creation of anti-vehicle and anti-missile lasers, as well as drills that can cut even the largest of battleships in half.
I had nothing to do with the development of this game. All rights to From the Depths belong to Brilliant Skies Limited. Please do not upload this video elsewhere without my permission.

Supercavitation is a phenomenon that happens when a object moving in a fluid gets enclosed in a bubble of an other fluid, and only experiences drag from the fluid bubble. It is used in supersonic torpedoes, to reduce their drag by a factor of 1000. (‘cuz air is a 1000 times less dense than water)

fun fact, super cavitation was discovered by accident. By making ship props go too fast, the ship actually slowed down as the props were were cavitating and moving air bubbles not water.
@kirknay
@kirknay 4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how supercavitation would work with standard artillery shells, but supercavitating torpedo has are capable of going faster than the speed of sound, due to the fact that they have essentially a bubble of steam ahead of the torpedo. This greatly reduces drag, making said Torpedoes a lot harder to dodge by submarine or standard Naval capabilities. Edit. I forgot to mention that the bubble of steam starts at the front, and wraps all the way around the torpedo, including to the rear. This is probably what would be the source of the reduction in Drag, as you don't have water being sucked behind the shell slowing it down.

Actually, the VA-111 Shkval supercavitating torpedo only achieves speeds of up to 200kts/370kph, which is already tremendous while going underwater. Makes Alfa-class subs look like snails! The torpedo of course can not sense anything at this speed, which means it's dumb-fired, which means in this era that of course the payload is a nuclear weapon!

Borderwise, sabot can be pronounced in multiple ways "Say-bow" is a more American pronunciation, "sa-bow" is closer to the original pronunciation, honestly it doesn't matter how you say it, people know what you're talking about, it's very similar to Aluminum and Aluminium or Sulfur and Sulphur, or Data and Data. My point, we've seen this before it's really no big deal, pronounce it however is comfortable with you. Edit: I've seen people say it both ways I've seen tankers who use sabot rounds in their jobs call it both ways.

The way APS works is quite ironic, irl shell casings eat most of the heat caused by the exploding gunpowder and they are ejected almost imediately after firing. The problem with irl guns is overheating the barrel but for that you need to fire a lot of shells and some guns have such a slow rof (like WWII 122-152mm guns, slow enough rof with a lot of stopping power, enough to kill a tank in 1 shot, multiple shots are not required) thats not even a problem. In MGs you can fix that with water cooling, the highest caliber gun ive seen use water cooling is the 23mm on the ZSU 23-4, russian SPAA (self propelled AA). Another problem is the uneven hearing of the barrel. In desert areas the sun heats up the top of the barrel but not the bottom resulting in barrel warping, not good for accuracy. Thats where the thermal shroud or sleeve or blanket comes in, it insulates the barrel so the uneven heating doesnt happen. One of the earliest tanks that had that was the Chieftain and its 120mm gun. When you have 11-10 or less rounds a min barrel overheating is not a huge problem. Railguns on the other hand, produce even more heat, most railgun rails dont even survive 60 shots bcz by that time they are melted (i mean yeeging a projectile at 2-3000 m/s creats a lot of friction, thus heat, enough to melt the rails) Its so ironic how slow APS shells rly are but how much heat they create and how railguns dont even have that problem

No, gunpowder gets shorter if you decrease the propellant amount. On 500mm if you add a .2 gunpowder instead of a base bleeder the shell yes it’s a tad bit slower*, it’s way more accurate, way less detectable and cost less ammo. They nerfed base bleeders to the ground, I only use them to make aps bombs less accurate (so more spray) * unless it only has two or less gunpowder in addition, then its faster

by the way, gunpowder casing have diminishing returns. I've made 30m max length shells (including the casings), after so many of them, they literally become useless to add more. hence the fact that my 101 km/s gun uses mostly railgun casings. only 5 km/s is from the gunpowder, the rest from the rails. not sure yet if rail casings have diminishing returns. huh, that inaccuracy buff for the base bleeder and the warhead debuff for super cavitation is new... interesting.
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 4 жыл бұрын
Yup. There does come a point where more casings do basically nothing, and adding more sabot/solid warheads actually does more to increase speed and KD.

@@stallfighter about 2 metal beams (which isn't all that bad given its an 18 mil sabot head), and if FtD were realistic, before it even leaves the barrel. [edit] actualy, ive given it some thought. since the barrel is also magnetic, that much energy in the rails would at the very least melt and launch the barrel (magnetic feilds can heat things), and because Newton the rails would suffer a simmilar fate, but just the opisite direction and a tad faster due to less mass. so essintialy there would be a HEAT round-like explosion going two ways from the barrel, one of them mostly molten globs mixed with plasma, the other one high velocity molten fragments tearing through your ship. oh yea, did i mention the fact that moving a projectile to 100 km/s even for a milisecond would cause one HELLA sonic boom? not to mention the compression of the air inside the barrel stuck in front of the shell... that alone would blow the barrel into peices. to sum it up, *BOOM*.

I don't bother with Supercav to shoot things underwater when I'm above or on the surface, but I do use Supercav shells on submarines with my gun components. Also didn't know that shells can have rail draw without rail casings...that makes things interesting. I have a 500mm triple rail turret that uses full on 8-meter rounds, and they get between 1600 and 1800 meters per second. This is very useful as I have them fitted on a space battleship and that extreme velocity generally laughs at gravity.

I do like to use the angle of 50 degrees on frag shells and missiles. At least to me seems a good balance between damage value and frag concentration, at least testing in my test range. But its really subjective. Also "sabot body(ies) + heavy head + base bleeder" do more penetration (despite having lass AP) than purely sabot. Exceptions are a huuuge sabot in a large gauge and maybe rails. (Also idkw but hesh seems to have been nerfed. Heat is better now but people say hesh bounces off less when hitting but i have to still test it)

Actually, you have it backward on the Grav Compensators as far as I can tell. I added grav compensators to slower shells, and they weren't accurately accounted for when firing from space. It seems to work the opposite way, adding an artificial gravity equal to the gravity at the gun's altitude, not at the target's altitude. When firing from space, there is no way to make it have artificial gravity in my experience. Would be nice, though.

I noticed that ap head inertial fused high explosive shells are a good all rounder shell I used it on a 90mm anti air gun and it was surprisingly effective against both air and ground targets is this exactly a setup I should go for?
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the AP of that shell. If it's less than 60 I would swap out the AP head for something else (HESH, HEAT or HE preferably).

Yeah I don't think it was anywhere near that I'll keep experimenting perhaps I'll try a ap head 1or 2 sabot body with solid warhead body for my 230 and 330 caliber guns

You're being corrected by Americans with the "say-bow" thing. They tend to do that kind of thing 🤔 It's a French word, selected for a weapon created by the British, so I'm going to go ahead and say the last people we should listen to are Americans on this one :^) Pronounce it like a cheese-eater (sa-bow)

Hey man, there was no need for that "the last people we should listen to is the americans on this" To each their own and the Americans have been right with other things aswell, not saying they're right with sabot but everyone is allowed to pronounce it in their own way.

Americans have retained the original english accent...you can look it up. Its the *british* english that changed to the ridiculous thing it is now.(Still not as bad as french, which is rated at outrageous.)

One thing I'd like to tell you to try is time-fused smoke. I tried it out in a high rpm and caliber gun and it makes most LAMS completely helpless.
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 4 жыл бұрын
I always found that timed smoke didn't 'stick' to enemy craft well. It needs to impact on shields or blocks to do that.

@@BorderWise12 If your rof is high enough it really doesn't matter because the cloud "follows" the enemy ship. Another shell I'd recommend to you is mixing HESH and secondary HEAT warheads.

Smoke only lowers laser AP now, right? Lowering the AP value of the Lams wouldn't hinder them much in killing projectiles i think.
