In this video we take a look at the new 62" Classic Take Down Longbow from Striker bows.
I've always been a big fan of the Hybrid Reflex/Deflex longbow, so please join in the woods while I take it for a spin!
NOTE: The noise you can hear at 8:55 is the creaking of a new leather glove FYI
The bow can be viewed on the Striker website here:

In Northern California, I shoot a Southwest Spyder with 64 inches. It’s a 3 piece takedown @ 35 lbs! It’s good out to 70 meters, but a tack driver at 20 to 30 meters! I am 72 and have been shooting for three years. 1965 was my first encounter with a bow, then life happened! After retirement, I revisited archery, to find out if I still had the touch! Luckily I still have the eye and the touch! Cheers from USA, great job, keep going!

I have a 50# Fleetwood TimberRidge, 60" reflex deflex takedown long bow. I have about a 30 inch draw, but have no issues with the bow. I too love the look of the reflex deflex design. It looks cool, but is always smooth. You get the smooth feeling of a classic longbow, but also higher performance like a recurve.

Hi Jim. I've watched your videos on ETAR and the gathering and convinced my other half to go to either Austria or Germany for a trad archery trip. Would you ever put together a video about travelling abroad with your kit e.g. airport baggage, safety, tips etc. We would love to go with our takedowns but would appreciate your knowledge on travelling with sharp pointy sticks on planes! Cheers

Where can you get the 62" versions in the uk. I'm sold on striker after trying a sport a member of my club has and its just so comfortable. Im in love with the red colour one but all the photos I see of the classic from your other vid, even on strikers website are yellow which puts me off. Could someone explain why traditional bows are usually shorter than typical recurves? I've been shooting barebow for a few months now but new to the traditional way of thinking. at 6ft, I've been told that a standard recurve is 68", which is what I have... is this the same for traditional? Cheers! J
@cpullic
@cpullic 7 ай бұрын
I’m considering getting a 62” LB as all of my current bows are 58” recurves. Since accuracy and lethality are my primary concerns, do you see any more accuracy in the longer bows and are they any faster than the same poundage in a shorter bow ?

You've test both the Striker rx1 on 60 limbs and this one on 62 , which one is the best filling and accurate, the 60 or 62, the riser wood or aluminium, etc..thanck's for your answer

How do you like this compared to the cottonmouth? What’s the deal with timber creek also? Not making bows with them anymore?
@PooMonkeyMan
@PooMonkeyMan 4 жыл бұрын
Joshua Braunstein He worked with Merlin, which helped produce the Timber Creek line, hence why he helped with the designs. Since then (late 2016/early 2017) left Merlin and went back to being an independent KZfaqr, and subsequently established Grizzly Strings (makes hell of a good string too). So, since he’s not with Merlin, he’s no longer advising on their bows.

How long is your reach? I am not a very tall person, and my draw length is around 26 inches or so, but I also find my 62 inch Ragim Antelope recurve as my optimal bow length. Thanks for the video. I bet you your bugs in the UK are no match to our crawlies and buggers here in Australia.

Gilan Bar Ona my drawer length is pretty much around 28 inches, but everybody finds that sweet spot in a different bow length I guess :) You’ve got me on that one, there are some terrifying things out there in the woods in Australia 😅

Looks a decent bow. It would be good to be able to have a shoot with one to see how it handles. Unfortunately there aren't really any archery shops in Scotland with a decent range of bows where you can try before you buy, in fact I can't think of any. It's led to a few duff purchases over the years, which always makes me wary when looking at new, relatively expensive, gear.

have you ever shot or owned a black widow?? ive shot many many many recurve and longbows over the years and i prefer a recurve myself over a longbow and once i shot a widow i never shot anything else..i will mention the other bow i do really like alot belive it or not is the hoyt take down recurve bow..so impressed how great that bow shoot but unfortunately its metal riser but super fast and super quiet even with fastflight strings that i cannot shoot on my widows..all my widows just dont like fastflight.and wat too loud with fastflight that i just cant understand why..
