Watching Aretha play You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman at the Kennedy Center Honors for Carole King is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen from beloved Aretha Franklin. She had President Obama wiping tears away along with many who have watched it. Carole King wrote that song and it made Aretha Franklin's career take off. This is beautiful, too. Oh my tears ❤

Guys...trust me...Aretha Live 1972 at New Temple Missionary Baptist is peak Aretha. Raw. Will bring you to tears. She almost collapses from emotional exhaustion after Amazing Grace, it think it is. Bernard Purdie on drums, 100° sweltering heat. It'll move you. And I'm a 70s/Led rock addict. Trust me. No one can sing like that without God's hand. Edit: she plays piano , too. I immediately bought the DVD when I heard this 2 yrs ago. Chill bumps now as she begins Amazing Grace...crowd be stompin'!

Music & lyrics by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. This song writing duo had so many hits in the 60’s, with most of them sung by Dionne Warwick😊👍🏼. Please react to her performance of Nessun Dorma at the 1998 Grammys. She filled in for the legendary Luciano Pavarotti when he fell ill. There was no time to rehearse other than in the dressing room. She wasn’t familiar with the orchestra or choir and they with her, she wasn’t even familiar with the stage as she tried to exit. The audience were on the edge of their seats feeling anxious for her: Aretha Franklin "Nessun Dorma" Live (Grammy Awards)

Hey felllas. For my money, Aretha was one of the best singers who ever lived. She never failed to amaze me in any performance live of studio. This song was written by Burt Bachrach and Hal David and was originally recorded by Dionne Warwick. Dionne's version was also great and I also appreciate her great voice, but as you said, Aretha completely reworked this song and "took it to church" infusing it with that wonderful gospel style she was famous for. Check out "Chain Of Fools" and also "You Make me Feel Like a Natural Woman". Peace.
