Personally I think the reason people think that aromantic people will be sad and lonely is because society sees a happy person being someone who is in a loving relationship and has kids. I’ll admit when I first heard the term I felt a little bad for them because I thought that they would never get to experience the same happiness that others do. However now I understand that there is no reason to feel bad for them. Their happy and spend so much time living with their friends! So of course they would be happy! And yeah maybe they won’t ever experience the same love a married couple has, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be happy either. They still love others, just in a diffrent way.

I love this channel. Ace/aro rep is soooo important. I hate when people say we don’t need it or that we’re not a part of the community because we don’t “experience as much discrimination”. The fact that real people in this world with real lives and personalities experience sexual attraction/desire is baffling to me. I've been trying to come to terms with it for years and I just can't. I knew sex was a thing, but I thought it was something people did with their spouses when they were bored on weekends. The concept of a "sex drive" (instinctively desiring sex on an unconscious level) is insane. I recently realised that I'm aromantic. It all explains how I never felt any connection with anyone and just thought that a romantic relationship is basically best friends who have sex lol and when I see them as best friends, I cannot really have the urge to develop physical intimacy with them and the whole thing was just a big fuck up. I know it sounds silly and I ruined about 5 healthy relationships with beautiful men, because I couldn't relate to their ideas of love or romance. I know better now.
