Regarding the filters, i think you can blacklist the molds instead of whitelisting every ingot type.

You can just fill the molds right on the conveyor belt. You don't need to load them into a depot, and it won't pass without being filled.

To answer your question about what tthe encased chain drive is for: - It can be used to change the rotational axis. Chain drives will still link with each other if they chain is "twisted" 90 degrees. Sometimes this ends up being more convenient than gearboxes, since the rotation direction ends up different. - It can be linked to an adjustable chain gearshift for a compact and redstone-controlled way to double or halve rotation speed. It's not super common that you need to control rotation speed with redstone, tho, so this is mostly just a middle step between big gears and rotation speed controllers for changing speed.

You can use mixers and presses to do certain recipes more efficiently than with mechanical crafters.

If you use trapdoors for the encased fan's "heated air" you can block the wind from damaging you and still heat up any item that would heat up anyways.

for firing the ingot molds you can just have a slow longer belt going along the same line as the fan that will always heat them enough and keep up throughput also the spout makes ingot molds instantly solid, the filter you made had NBT data of the mold being heated so it didnt filter out

Create has a block called a "Stockpile Switch". It reads the content of most containers and output a redstone signal depending on the amount inside. Also you can define when it should output a signal by adjusting the threshold for the "fill" level. Very easy to use and can even be used with the wireless links, also from the create mod. Also. Instead of adding all the different ingot molds to the filter, you can do the opposite and just put the empty mold on a deny list. That way every type of filled ingot mold should be allowed to go through, but empty mold will be held back.

Instead of adding every recipe to the filter try black listing the mold instead of whitelisting all the recipes, I'm not sure if it works I've never played create mod but worth a try

There is a much easyer way for the filter. Just use a attributefilter and input an empty mold. Then scroll down to "contains air" and select "add opposite attribiute" . Then you just have to select allow this type of item. This way any mold containing no air will be put through. I used this for my own setup cause i could not be bothered to make a sample of every mold type. :D

It probably won't help mango because these videos were prerecorded ages ago, but for anyone else playing ATFC and struggling to find Kaolinite, Graphite or other minerals, i highly recommend installing the TFC Hint Rocks mod. It adds out-of-place marker rocks for underground mineral veins, makes the search for minerals a lot less frustrating when you know what hint rocks to look for.

a better way to create ingots is making sheets (no mold required) and sawing them into ingots. this way you do not have to use the consumable moulds, though i dont know if they still break when used with create.

Regarding the molds disappearing, if they are hot the chance of breaking is much higher so you'd need to put them through a water bath first in order to keep the molds IIRC

A few things about the musings around 20:00. I've played Create on its own a year ago, so maybe my info is a little dated. 1) Brass funnels allow you to put stacks of items on the belts. Adjusting the count with a wrench makes the funnel wait until it can output the full count, so you won't randomly end up with smaller stacks. You do this accidentally with the depot's output funnel at 21:53. An asterisk, the default setting, just means "as many as fit, don't wait". 2) Going from there, processing time for bulk blasting/smoking/washing of item stacks (on the ground or on belts) depends on the stack's item count. For items stacking to 64, 1 item takes the same time as 16, 17-32 take double that, 33-48 triple, etc. In ATFC it may be based on quarters of stacks. And about the chain drive: Belts are restricted to a straight line, while chain drives can twist and turn as you like. Furthermore, Create seems to switch back and forth on whether belts themselves consume stress (1x rotation speed, if I recall correctly).

Watching one of the best technical Minecrafters play with create mod and solve problems in the most backwards way is truly a delight

Re encased chain drive: they used to be the preferred way to transfer power along a line of blocks, since belts used to take up stress units and ECDs didn't. In 1.18 they changed it so belts don't contribute to stress anymore so in 99% of situations its just cheaper to use them

Items on belts don't despawn and a block that is the Create comparator is called the content observer

I'm pretty sure the rotation controllers work both ways, the thing that was causing them to break is when you put two different power sources on both sides. You should be fine to put power through the top as long as you don't connect anything that provides stress units to the bottom.

One of my favorite features of Create is the Redstone Link. Wireless redstone! It's a game changer when it comes to automation and control. Also for the ingot filter it might be easier to set it as a "Deny list" and have it only pull out items that are NOT empty ingot molds.

hey for 2x2 and 3x3 crafting of the same item (the case for clay balls and bammbo) in vannila you can use the basin and press and its way fater then the crafters you might want to check it out for your systems

You can use a mechanical press to make shapeless recipies using a basin if you set a filter on the basin for the recipe you want.

For the fam recipes the normal method is to put them on a belt running through the effect of the fan at a slow speed or through enough fans that they all fully process before clearing the area.

You can do every operation on a belt. Both fan-bound and depot-bound operations stop the items on the belt until the operation is complete. Most factories can therefore be built with a single belt, which can also conveniently be used to power the machines above it

Stockpile switch(renamed to treshold switch in the newest version of create) is the alternative for the comparator. Multiple fans on the same item stack decreases the time it takes for the smelting process to occure.

If you want to change the direction of a shaft, you can use a gearshift. The speed controller breaks every time because it works 2 ways and will set the speed to the selected rpm. so the power from your base was trying to power the windmill bearing at 128 rpm. The cogwheels worked because it is working in the way it works in real life: large to small cogwheel will speed up but has less torque, and minor to large cogwheel will slow down but has more torque. Create will break parts when (so far I know): it spins faster than the max rpm in the config folder and if something turns in the wrong direction. I hope this helps you with understanding create a little more!

The content reader is a comparator like. You can🎉 switch on or off your contraptions with the fullness or emptiness of your storage. It's more precise than a comparator. Can't you "stamp" the clay balls to make clay block ? If i remember correctly, i think you can. Don't hesitate to use the wireless redstone to compact your contraptions.

Create ovens can be much bigger and faster. The baking timer doesn't reset when an item moves from one belt block to the next, so however fast the belt is, you can just make the oven longer to ensure any item entering the oven is fully baked by the time it exits the other side.

All recipes that work on a depot also work on belts btw. Also when you were wondering what you need encased chain drives for i was just screaming PONDER! in my head. Dont forget about it :) Also fans can just blow into belts instead of above them to fire items

pro tip since I saw you were using the mechanical crafters for clay blocks: almost all "compacting" recipes that are 2x2 or 3x3 of all one item can be done using the basin with a mechanical press instead, which is faster, cheaper, and uses less stress units; in a similar vein you can also do any shapeless crafting recipe with basin+mixer

Yes, that ilmango can't react to our tips is kinda painful, seeing him making all these mistakes & overcomplicating things: - gearboxes reverse the rotation direction - presses, deployers, spouts work on belts, no need for depots - you can read out the contents of a vault with a content observer/stockpile switch - you can do wireless redstone with a redstone link - filters can blacklist, and you can set them from rei/jei - you can rotate gearboxes etc. the side you click on will remain still. - you can do 2x2 and 3x3 compression using press & basin - you can do unshaped crafting with a mixer - brass funnels/chutes can in/output stacks, you can adjust the amount with the wrench. - fans can blow onto the conveyors directly - items on conveyors don't despawn

The Encased Chain Drive lets you rotate the output without any other components, and has lower loss than belts. There are other uses, but those tend to be the most useful ones

Encased Chain Drive: If you have a line of them you can rotate one or more of them by 90° and they still connect. And there is an additional variant (I forgot the name) which you can power by redstone and it doubles or halves the speed (depending on which is input/output) only while powered.

I think you can use a longer belt for cooking the molds , thus you can increase the speed of the machine and possibly make it work on demand , as we saw how 2 molds on the belt can be baked at the same time

Im just here to say you can turn 90 degrees with shafts using cogs instead of expenseive stuff like chain drives or vertical gearboxes. Especially nice for stuff like a mechanical crafter where you need a cog anyway. Love the content

the encased chain drive can be placed in configurations that aren't just a straight line and can also rotate 90° without changing the direction of rotation, they have a lot of uses, you just need to look into all the ways they can connect because it's not just a line that all rotate the same way

You can actually take the metal directly into sheets and cut it into two ingots, The process only consumes "Crystallisation Catalyst", there is a 50% chance to regain "Crystallisation Catalyst". Set filter to force “mechanical_saw” cut "sheet" to ingots , not something else(in case brass sheet turn into "brass_mechanisms" :P )

With encased chain drives you can change the direction they stay in a line but can change from vertical to horizontal

You can change with the encased chain drive to where the direction of the rotation if you want a horizontal to go into a vertical or ex.

For the filter that you put in the brass funnel, you can drag items from JEI/REI, you don't need them in your inventory.

The encased chain drive can also be used to rotate the axis of rotation by 90 degrees. You can place two side by side, one facing up and one facing sideways, and the rotation will transfer. (Make sure the face they have in common is neither of those axes.) Edit: oh never mind you figured it out :)

You can do stacks on belts by scrolling on the brass funnel to set a stack size

1. the chain drive doesn't use any stress unit, belts does! 2. with the brass filter you can chose between the tags so the temperature is an easy choice (cold denied) 3. with just the press and the cauldron (cold) you easly can compress clay balls into blocs

When JEI shows all the different types of items for a recipe (ie, all the sand types), you can use scroll wheel to cycle through. Also if you hold shift, this stops the cycle.

Im pretty sure you can set filters to blacklist the empty ingot molds, but I dont know hiw that would work if they get partially filled. Also, I think you can set filters by their properties, so theres probably a "filled_inot_mold" property or something you can filter by.

I guess the encased chain drive is in cases it's horizontal and you want to be able to walk over it.

Chain Drives do not use up stress units, but belts DO. I forget how much, but multiple belts used that way uses some stress units. Unless that's been changed since the recent updates, using chain drives is just more efficient.

I'm pretty sure that when you scroll while pointing at a brass funnels' filter it lets you take out items in stacks, and you can, for example, make it so it only takes out molds in bundles of 16 or any number for that matter. You currently craft two at a time anyway. While in the topic, I'm also pretty sure that you can make a cheap basin and a press to make clay blocks. It also is more compact and a lot faster than a crafter array, unless that gets added by some create addon, in which case I apologize

You should probably start turning that stairs around either down from the furnace room or to the side, so you can access it both ways. Hopefully it doesn't change the kitchen too much.

To speed up the ingot mold smelting if u change the brass funnel on the depot to 16 then u will drop the molds in stacks so more can be smelted at a time speeding it up

in order to revert the direction of cog rotation, you can also simply use a single gearbox.

Regarding the Chain Drive: You can chain multiple in L-Shapes and angle them against each other, making it slightly more versatile for compacting.
