Today I'm sharing the 10 foods I stopped eating to help cure my sugar tooth. These were foods that I had to eliminate for quite a while until my blood sugar levels were more stable and my cravings were under control. A few of these items I'm now able to incorporate into my meals as a weekly treat, but I still don't eat most of these items on a daily basis.

1) justin's peanut butter cups, 16g added sugar!! 2) chocolate chips 3) Siete Chips and corn tortilla - no added sugar, BUT both are have highly processed flour that quickly spikes blood sugar levels. And, they're not satisfying to you keep eating them. big blood sugar load from the chips 4) Chocolate covered raisins - big blood sugar spike, 1/4 cup had 26(?)g of sugar 5) Baguettes - occasional bread, about 1x per week, with olive oil/cheese, she'd eat 1/2 the baguette and she was still hungry! 24 glycemic score, big impact on blood sugar level. She was combining high starch with high oil (olive oil or cheese) ... sugars combined with high fats can bypass our satiety cues causing us to eat more!!! 6) Dates - ppl are deceived into thinking it's a sugar swap, but 1 date has 16g of sugar and HIGH glycemic index also. It's used in all the dessert recipes 7) all dried groups - glycemic load of 49, double the baguette! She continued whole food sources of fruit, cut out the dried fruit. 8) Lattes -1 medium vanilla late had 35g added sugar, about the same as a Coke! 9) "healthier" baked food items - made with better ingredients with lower glycemic, but it had tapioca, gasava, etc. flour. with alternative sugars like agave, maple sugar or cocunt sugar... combined with a latte it's 60g of sugar! When she had these she had brain fog, etc. 10) Protein bars - stilll have a lot of sugar, especially dates instead of regular sugar and don't come up as "added sugar" for the nutrition label.

I randomly stumbled upon your channel last week when trying to remind myself how to make Greek yogurt and I am obsessed! I have been watching your videos non-stop. You explain the science and benefits of intermittent fasting in a way that is so helpful and just makes solid sense. I watched a lot of your videos first to prepare myself to get started. I’m only on day 3 of my new journey but I am so exited and motivated! I am also giving myself permission to enjoy walks outside instead of creating injury after injury due to years of running on the treadmill at orange theory. Thank you for this amazing content! Hey Autumn!!! Love your videos, as I am trying to kick out sugar from my life for good. May you talk about the impact of sugar and our periods? I noticed that on the months I limited my sugar consumption, I experienced painless, lighter periods. Lots of energy, almost like I was not having my period at all; as opposed to months that I consumed lots of sugar, when I suffer from a lot of pain, anxiety attacks and moodiness. I am in perimenopause, and my gynecologist recommended a sugar-free diet to ease the symptoms. Thanks in advance!!!

@Autumn Bates Have you ever checked out Aloha protein bars? A co-worker turned me on to their products. The Peanut Butter cup is my favorite followed by the cookie dough. I usually eat a savory breakfast with eggs, veggies, maybe a piece of cheese or something like that. I use olive or avocado oil. It's a filling meal, but sometimes, I feel the desire to balance it out with something a little sweet. It doesn't happen everyday, but it does happen. For those times, I grab one of these, and it does the trick. Plus...added protein! The PB cup and the cookie dough only have 4g of added sugar.

Yes! I am so glad she included the chips and bread. I have tried to kick sugar so many times but never cut out grains completely. It was always hard and the sugar always crept back into my diet. Last month I cut out all added sugars (including zero calorie sweeteners) AND grains and for the first time in my life I don’t have cravings. It took a couple weeks but I feel SO good now!!! But I too had to stop with the tortilla chips, which were my biggest weakness. I also had to stop snacking on whole fruits and use them just for toppers in salads or for a little sweetness in smoothies. But this switch feels life changing and finally sustainable :)

Absolutely!! It's something that isn't often considered with sugar cravings because it technically doesn't have "sugar". But when seriously trying to get rid of sugar cravings (and not just cut/reduce sugar in general), those sneaky items can make a big difference.

Those “dried blueberries” have a ton of “added sugars”! But if they were just dried (dehydrated) they should be the same/similar to fresh blueberries 🫐. PS: a friend who I consider the queen of using her dehydrator just gifted me a bag of dehydrated lemon 🍋 slices. I’ve been experimenting with adding them to afternoon ginger & turmeric tea.

This video is a bit misleading though, you have to remember that the sugar contained within certain fruits such as dates and raisins is not the same kind of sugar that you would get from a highly-processed food source. It's worth notifying that not all dry fruit is equally the same in terms of quality. So it's always advisable to be sure to only get organic dry fruit. As long as it's organic there should not be major health concerns. It is important, however, to keep in mind that people struggling with certain health conditions are not good candidates to consume these foods in the first place. However, under normal and healthy circumstances, it won't hurt to have some organic dry fruit here and there. In a nutshell, sugar comes in different forms, and not all forms are equal and shouldn't be mixed up for this same reason, they are all different. and thus they should be talked about differently.

It's good that you're adjusting the tips based on your needs! I generally eat on the lower carb side, but recommend incorporating higher quality medium glycemic starches for those are who are more active in my Programs and with my clients. I also discuss it occasionally on my KZfaq channel as well as a side note for those who are athletes/have very active careers.

What I stopped eating: (1) highly processed frankenfoods that are made in a factory & come in bags, boxes, cans; most especially seed oils. (2) sugar & anything that ends in -ose; e.g., fructose. (3) carbs: there's no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. (4) plants & anything that comes from plants like coffee & tea. (5) Dairy: kills fat loss.

Relatable temptations. I recognize all these brands. I just wrote a whole long essay under a video warning against the danger of skipping a meal. My reply, copied/pasted (tl;dr quit snacking! ❤) "Love the content. I would add one tip: DO question commonly held beliefs. #6 short and long term fasting both involve skipping meals which has huge health benefits. The only ones who benefit from the myth that we need to be constantly snacking or eating are McDonalds and Coca Cola shareholders. The same as we need a break to recharge, our bodies need a break from the work of digesting food to heal and take care of other body business. The sickness you feel from skipping a single meal is likely due to the fact that our insulin levels are thrown off by the added sugar in all our highly processed food products. Snacking is a recent invention that doesn't make sense, unfortunately, unless you earn a profit from it. It might feel good in the moment, but I recommend giving abstinence a shot and seeing how quickly you learn to love feeling light, bright, clear, focused, creative and free from the constant distraction and cost of food. Our food makes us foggy, fat and sick. An extra dose in between meals is not the solution to erratic energy levels. Meanwhile, there is literally zero harm in skipping a meal, skipping two meals, in fact I have fasted for up to 36 hours and never felt better, or more clear-minded, and upgraded in every way, including liberated from my food addiction. Just something to consider. Keep up the great work! ❤"

First of all, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! I just found you about a month ago, and I'm addicted! your vids really motivate and guide me. I had a question though. Im doing high protein IF 20:4 + keto coffee in the am, and I'm enjoying it. I'm at the place where I'm taking light walks in the AM but wondering the order you would recommend for coffee/water/walk in the am. Also with an eating window of 3-7pm, when would you workout? i have no clue about the timing of it all seeing as I need protein/food after I work out, but I don't wanna lift light weights fasted (or do I??). thoughts ideas? Anything would help. or maybe make a video on this topic? I'm so curious. Also what is a good amount of sugar to aim for each day? im at 15-25 g as of now.

When I was younger and obese, chips, pastries, and chocolate were the ones. To this day, popcorn is something I find addictive as well, so I stay away. Dried fruit isn't something I am a fan of, I only consume prunes nowadays and 1 or 2 doesn't cause harm. Nuts can also be addictive, still less harmful in my opinion than popcorn; I can stop with nuts at 10 or 12 whereas with popcorn there is no stopping me.

There’s no such thing as sugar addiction. The foods you gave up are what research refers to as hyper palatable. Usually a combination of fat and sugar or fat and salt. No one goes to the pantry and takes a spoon of sugar. Now if you want to say foods you stopped eating to eat less high calorie easy to overeat junk food that’s fair.
