This song did set a chart record on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. To this very day, Waiting for a Girl Like You spent the most weeks at the #2 spot on the Billboard Top 10 chart. The record is 10 weeks in a row. The only reason that this song never went to #1 because of the monster hit song, Physical by the late Olivia Newton-John. It also took over the #1 spot for 10 weeks in a row.

Man the power of music that can just grab your emotions. This song will never tire and Gramm and Dolby created a masterpiece and this is coming from a metalhead. This is music composition at its purest. Not to mention complete getting down mood music. It’s got soul and rhythm but its different than Withers, Gaye, Pendergrass and such as in it’s got that new era feel of that captures the essence of the early 80s combined with the classic sounds of R&B but with a smoky, treble vocal dynamic laid over a smooth backdrop

That opening synth part was played by the great Thomas Dolby. I think "4" was their best album. Check out "Jukebox Hero" from the same album. Great early 80's rock!

Foreigner is one of my fav bands of all time. They can rock and they can give you a great slow jam. This song is a fav of mine and definitely on the fav love song list at the top. Love songs have to have a great slow beat, the words have to be smooth and make sense and it’s gotta make me feel a certain way. They just don’t make them like this anymore.

To me a good love song reaches down in your soul and brings you to a deep emotional place that makes you sad if you've never been there or had that kind of love and happy if you have. I've had the Foreigner "Records" album since it came out. Awesome band. Lou is an all time great singer. My favorite love songs include details about the person, not only their beauty. Those inner qualities that make up who they are, and what they mean to another. The genre isn't as important, as long as the meaning is expressed succinctly.

I've been waiting for a girl like you is the quintessential love song. I do like rock love songs too. But songs like this is how all love songs should be done.
