ABOUT PAPADAKIS RACING:
The Papadakis Racing team began drifting in 2004 and is the most winning team in Formula Drift history, earning the 2015 title with driver Fredric Aasbo, as well as backto back championship titles with driver Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008. The Rockstar Energy Drink / Nexen Tire Toyota Corolla Hatchback is the latest competition build from the Hawthorne, California, based team.
Team owner Stephan Papadakis is a legend of sport compact racing who began building his reputation in the 1990s with the first front-wheel drive, tube-chassis drag car in the U.S. The team earned multiple records and championships in the discipline, turning in elapsed times and trap speeds previously thought unattainable in front-drive drag cars. Papadakis' successes in front-wheel drive were matched by his efforts in rear-wheel drive when he campaigned a Honda Civic that became just the fifth car to join the NHRA's Sport Compact 200 MPH club

Exactly! KZfaqrs set reality so high for most of these kids/new comers into sports that's it's really nice to see that. Shit will happen, every time, in every build, in every shake down. Even a master tech like him, messed up a rear main seal. So common in every engine build... It's set back after set back that people don't get to see often. I mean hell, that dyno adapter set up alone was more than most people will ever put into their drivetrain $$$ wise...

@@Spkfox Right? I just got back into skateboarding from a long hiatus, and all you use to see on videos was everything getting landed, nobody ever thinks about all the bailing and failed attempts that led to that line\successful trick. No fake problems\deadlines, people throwing wrenches\faking having fun, just a genuine dude who is the most well spoken engine builder on the tube, and definitely one of the most mechanically inclined as well. So humble, like the kind of friend you would have a beer at the bar with, or the homie who doesn't drink but goes anyway to make sure everyone's ok lololol. Keep it up papadakis :O, just watch out for those non japanese coils packs, heard they can dildo the engine ROFLMFAO ;).

I love how some of the solutions are "We designed these mounts and created them from scratch" and "We custom CNC'd this spacer after 3D printing it". But some of the other solutions were "We zip tied a towel on top of it so it won't spray" and "We heated the head up on the grill". TRUE ENGINEERING.

@@RmX. Not saying the OP isn't full of bullshit, but it's common practice in many fields of work (not juist automotive) to go through some sort of special training to get certifications when a new product is launched. For example one of my friends work at an Audi dealership. You can't just take an R8 to any dealership. Only dealerships with mechanics that have R8 specific certifications are allowed to work on them. I worked for a cell provider years ago, and some guy from Apple would come out and introduce us to various new Apple devices in some weird hippie, laid back way where everyone sat in a circle of chairs. So like the OP said, Supra training.

honestly, getting LN2 is actually easier than finding an oven big enough to fit that block. Basically any welding supply store will sell LN2 for about $1 to $5 per liter, assuming you've got something to put it in. No license or any paperwork required, even just a double walled thermos is enough for a container.

@@Turbochargedtwelve agree you're just flogging a dead horse after that. If it was my engine it would never see any more than 15psi of boost. Another 27 psi for 150hp is a foolish trade. Like you the first thing I would be looking at is where the volumetric efficiency is going. Is the intercooler not big enough / no heat exchanging going on? What about that poor AC pump with no coolant take that off and put it in the bin. I would have pulled the pump off it if you're only going to use it as an idler pulley. You can't claim it was actually working.

No it didn't. It was probably a heat issue, and maaaaaybe and ever-so-slight vacuum, but it wouldn't have been much. I bet it just got really hot in there.
@sasjadevries
@sasjadevries 4 жыл бұрын
@@detaart It's definitely not vacuum. If it would have affected it, then the boostgauge would see it. And even a vacuum that's too small to notice would either pull the door out of your hands, or not allow you to open the door as soon as you go there. Heat and slight drop in oxygen levels are most certainly the reasons. It's hard to say which of the two mattered more, but it's those 2 factors together that did it.
