Actually, most of the crowd did not know who they were at the start of their set. This was the last song in a 5 song set and, as you can tell, they totally won that crowd over. It's such an iconic moment for them. I stumbled into Babymetal on KZfaq by accident. I don't even remember the first song I heard. About 3 1/2 years later, in 2017, I checked them out again and quickly became addicted.

I had actively ignored them, due to being ignorant for years. Then one day, only about a year ago, I was cleaning the apartment, listening to a random metal playlist on Apple Music. Suddenly "Megitsune" came on, and I had to drop everything in my hands, and check who the Hell this was. Big surprise : Babymetal!! Hmmm, maybe I had been an idiot. Maybe they weren't trash. "Megitsune" truly sounded great! Next I checked the mv, and from there I have been a massive fan of everything Babymetal. I'm a permanent resident of the Fox hole. 😉 Earlier fave bands have been Slayer and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, but with Babymetal it's different. They never fail to put a smile on my face. The metal is strong. The vocals arr amazing. The girls were just three kawaii explosions in the beginning and on the first album. Then kawaii teens on MR and now kawaii young women on MG. They deserve everything good that comes their way, thank Koba for managing the girls the right way (instead of k-pop artists) and not sexualizing them, and thank you in general to the entire team Babymetal. I love everything about them. And even though they're massively successful, they never ever come off as anything but humble, appreciative and just happy to be doing what they're doing. In a pretty cynical business, these are good people, this is amazing music and show, and I'm all for it. Put your Kitsunes up!!! 🤘🏻🦊😎

Great reaction - and as Jeff Schreifels said, 30 minutes and 5 songs earlier most of that crowd didn't have a clue who BABYMETAL were - and a few who had maybe seen the 'Gimme Chocolate' video weren't happy that this "gimmick, joke, money grabbing manufactured band" were playing at Sonisphere at all. This was BABYMETAL's first adventure outside of Asia. They played a couple of small venues in Paris and Cologne in the days before this, but Sonisphere was their first time in the UK and their first major event outside of Asia. They were originally booked to play a small side stage or tent expecting maybe a couple of thousand of their own fans, but 'Gimme Chocolate' had gone viral and there was some noise surrounding them, so with just a couple of months notice their booking was changed and they were moved to open the main stage first thing on the Saturday morning. The crowd that gathered was unusually big for that time on the Saturday - 50-60,000 UK metalheads and some had been threatening on social media to boo them off and throw bottles (it has happened before at UK festivals if the crowd don't like what they hear). The girls were aged 16 and the two younger ones only just turned 15 (they celebrated their respective 15th birthdays at the two shows in France and Germany I mentioned earlier). They were aware of the threats and thought they may not be accepted, but they were more worried that nobody was there to see them at all - they couldn't see the crowd from where they were back stage. They walked out on stage to a sea of puzzled faces and a crowd wondering why there were 3 small Japanese schoolgirls in red tutus walking on stage at a metal festival. Su-metal is reported as having seen the faces and thought of it as a challenge thinking to herself "This will be fun, let's knock it out of the park." IDZ was the final song of the set and you could hear for yourself the crowd calling for "One More song" and "We want more". They made a lot of new fans that day and their merch outsold all the other bands playing that weekend (including Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Anthrax and many more big names in the metal world). They have spoken in an interview not very long ago how this performance was a major turning point for them and how it made them realise their music could cross language and other barriers and that they might actually be accepted into the world of metal. They played their first show in London a couple of days later and enjoyed that so much that they now think of London and the UK as their second home.

How did I find Babymetal? I found them during a Covid Lockdown almost a year ago (probably the only good thing for me to come from the pandemic). Babymetal and their reactors helped whittle away at the long days of isolation. In a way, Babymetal saved me. Not in a religious sense, but they certainly stopped me climbing walls and gave me a focus. Before Covid-19 I never knew a band like this existed. I am now a big fan. This song (IDZ), has a positive message and it needs to be amplified to help reduce bullying. Many of Babymetal's songs (the early ones) have positive and empowering themes; particularly for young girls. Their songs reflect positive self-concept, standing up for your rights, battling your inner demons and deciding what make up and hairstyles to wear to school. Early Babymetal was very age appropriate and promoted a style of music that would attract young people to metal music in a safe and inclusive environment. As the girls grew older, so did their musical stories. I love watching these gifted performers, and those that react to them. It is a highlight of my day when I see a new reactor to Babymetal's music and they begin their descent down the Fox Hole. Welcome to the insanity that is Babymetal.

I stumbled across BABYMETAL about 4 or 5 years ago purely by chance after watching a couple of reactions to a couple of my old favourite bands. I've been listening to metal and many other genres for too many decades to remember, but I was bored ... there was nothing new that grabbed my attention, very few new bands doing anything I hadn't seen and heard done better countless times before. All the new metal bands seemed to have forgotten to add any melody to their songs and most of the singers seemed to have forgotten to sing and were just growling and screaming, so I had all but given up on new music and I just listened to my old favourites. I thought I was a fan of a couple of bands in the past - it turns out I just liked a lot of their music, went to concerts, had a good time, bought some records and t-shirts etc, but I know now I wasn't a fan. BABYMETAL is the most entertaining, pleasing to the ear, talented, engaging all round package I have ever had the luck to discover. All the bands I followed in the past had at least two or three songs I didn't care for and would skip - BABYMETAL are yet to put out a song I don't like (OK there were maybe one or two that had to grow on me, but live performances of those won me over too). So 4 or 5 years on and I'm still listening to them every day and not even a suggestion of that stopping any time soon.

I discovered BM in 2013 when the Megitsune video popped up on my feed and became a fan in 2014 with Road of Resistance. I then listened to some Sakura Gakuin songs and liked some of them too. In this IDZ performance you get a bit of everything: Kami Band shredding, Su power vocals, Su's hyper extended elbow, Moa and Yui backing vocal, dancing, and a Yui tutu malfunction. The title takes an iconic Japanese anti-drugs slogan Mayaku, Dame, Zettai (Absolutely no drugs) and uses it against bullying substituting Ijime (bullying or abuse) for Mayaku. In the two years before this concert BM had worked hard to transform themselves from an idol group singing and dancing to backing tracks into a metal band capable of performing live in concert. The Kami Band had been formed and integrated to the performances and they had played several Japanese festivals and done the Legend concerts in preparation for touring. Then, in 2014, BM were getting good buzz on their first European tour and so were invited to perform at Sonisphere...a big UK metal festival at Knebworth. They were nervous because the UK crowd was notoriously tough and weren't expecting such a large crowd, but by the end of their 30 min set they had won them over completely. IDZ was their finale. It's the moment that critics and the international audience realized that BM were a legitimate headlining band and not just a gimmick. It was also a complete vindication of Koba's vision and everyone's hard work and I think you can see that in Su's smile at the end.

Great reaction. This song hits me in the feels. as i was bullied at school. Ok it was decades ago and I've put that behind me a long time ago. But there is this part when Moa and Yui goes down on their knees in praying position Su sings these lines that could have been mine those years: Namida mise-zu ni, nakidashi-soona yoru wa kokoro no oku no heya ni hitori. Kizutsuketa no wa hoka no dareka dake ja naku kizuka-nai furi shiteta nakama. I didn't show my tears, and in the night I was about to cry, in a room deep inside my heart, I stayed alone. Those who hurt me were not only someone else, but also those who pretended not to notice. It was my friend.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🚫 My favorite part of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' is still the part where Su threatens to kick Yui and Moa in the head if they don't stop bullying each other. And this anti-bullying song gets some of the biggest mosh pits. : ) I can't imagine the strength of nerve it took for a 16 year old Su, and just turned 15 year olds Yui and Moa to take that stage. And to leave the crowd wanting more. I'd say they made some new fans that day. They followed this up with a headlining concert at The Forum in London two days later. This was a classic Kami Band line-up with Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus guitars, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. BTW, there were Band Score books published for each of the three studio albums, 'BABYMETAL', 'Metal Resistance' and 'Metal Galaxy' with guitar tabs, solos, etc.

Your favorite part is mine, too. In addition, whenever Moa is kicked by Su, she always looks angry bully who was threatened or scolded severely. Even at 10 Budokan shows. Moa makes such serious facial expression due to her strong feeling toward this song, I guess.

Great reaction again! Most if not Babymetal songs have a strong messaging behind their lyrics (unfortunately, sometimes some of that is lost in translation) but you get it mostly. That was their first real appearance outside of Japan (they’ve played in Singapore, Germany and France before tho) and they didn’t know what to expect and were afraid that they get booed or stuff being thrown at them and also, that nobody would show up to see them. From backstage they couldn’t really see the crowd and were seriously scared that this would have come true. Luckily there was so much buzz going on that 50-60.000 people actually showed up that had no clue what they were about to witness. At the end of their 30 minute set they had won the crowd completely over (you can hear them shouting “one more song”) and that was the beginning of the worldwide success of Babymetal. Unfortunately, one of the main guitarist passed away in early 2018 after a fall whilst stargazing (RIP Mikio!). I discovered Babymetal in 2014 when “Gimme Chocolate “ went viral but didn’t pay much attention to them until late 2019 when KZfaq recommended them to me. Ever since there is not a single day I don’t listen to them :)

An early version of the song can be heard in a video uploaded to the band's official KZfaq channel entitled "Babymetal - My First Heavy Metal in Tokyo 2012", which also features part of a live performance of "Iine!". On November 8, 2012, an official trailer for the single and accompanying music was uploaded to the band's official KZfaq channel. The trailers, along with a live performance at Sonisphere Festival, subtitled the song as "No More Bullying" and "No More, Bullying, Forever", respectively. An interview with the producers of the band was published in the December issue of Marquee to promote the single's release in January. The single was released in four versions: a standard edition and three physical limited editions, "I", "D", and "Z". The single also had a promotional release to customers who purchased tickets to live performances of Legend "I", "D", or "Z". "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (good job with the pronunciation) is one of their earliest songs, their second, actually according to live performances although they released "iine" before this one. And it's one of my top favorites (huge power metal fan here). This performance in the UK was a huge milestone in BABYMETAL's history. And probably their most important gig ever. Win over that particular crowd is considered an epic win. I discovered BABYMETAL only a couple of years ago (yes, it was so late and I hate myself for that) because of a suggestion of YT while I was watching reaction videos. It was the song "Catch me if you can" and it blew my mind as I got hooked from the very first moment. But I can't listen to a handful of songs all the time, my Spotify stats are embarrassing enough as it is. Not because it's Babymetal, but because I have this tendency to listen a lot to the same music, and the last 7 months have been 95% Babymetal. But by the end of their 30-ish minute set, the crowd is chanting "We want more! We want more!", which you can see and hear at the end of this video. They had the largest pits and wall of death's, as well as sold the most merch out of all the acts performing at that event (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc). This show was an important part of them blowing up outside of Japan and is considered a major moment in BABYMETAL history. This is why this show is my favorite of all their shows! Great video and reaction! Keep up the great work!

Great & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The title is "Ijime Dame Zettai". The phrase "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s. So this song implies that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful and addictive as illegal drugs. We have to continue our efforts at home and in school (and in any society or organization or group in the world) to eliminate it. This was filmed in 2014. Now in 2021, BABYMETAL performed IDZ in all of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan Concerts with Su-Metal's matured beautiful voice. It was probably their message to the world.

Nice reaction. I found Babymetal through KZfaq. I was listening to a ton of Amon Amarth (another amazing band you should check out if you don't know them), and KZfaq for whatever reason suggested I give Babymetal's "Gimmie Chocolate" a try. I put it off for a VERY long time. Probably about a year or so. Finally I was bored one day and was in the mood to try something new, so I figured what the heck, lets give them a listen. I REALLY wanted to hate them because I hated the name and didn't like the display picture Gimmie Chocolate was showing. 3 little girls. I was sure I was about to listen to some garbage similar to what kids in North America listens to these days. I listened to the song and I must have spent a good 2 to 3 hours listening to different Babymetal songs after that one. I was hooked pretty much right away. I fell even more in love with these amazing young girls when I watched the Babymetal reacts to youtubers react to Babymetal Reactions. They were so sincere and so open to how the youtubers reacted. It didn't matter to them if the reaction was good or bad. Obviously they were happy when people liked their reaction, but they didn't get hurt when the reactors didn't know if they liked them or not. They were just happy people gave them a chance, and they were just happy and open to receive the criticism. They won a lot of respect from me that day. Anyhow, that is the short version of MY story anyhow lol

I was there! I’d never heard of them until then but they were absolutely mind blowing. I’ve seen them a few times since, including in Japan, & they have improved and matured wonderfully but the impact they had on me that day has never left me. Full of joy and positivity. The Kami band are masters of their art.

I had been watching KZfaq videos of Pentatonix from their win on The Sing-off (along with some other X-factor and such contests). I also found a Taiwanese street drummer (Vela Blue) which lead to some Japanese drummers on my feed (like Murata Tamu san, now the drummer for Nemophila). This lead to Van Canto popping up which brought in the Metal that I hadn't really been into since the 70's. I started to get video recommendations for Babymetal showing up, but the girls looked so young I passed them over. But KZfaq kept pestering me. Finally, one where the thumbnail did not feature the trio came by and I said "what the heck, why not" and clicked. This was the official MV for Megitsune. While I was still a bit put off by the age of the trio I was quite taken by Su-metal's vocals. And of course, the instrumentation, and that bad-ass heavy breakdown to a Japanese folk song that I already had heard before and have always thought of as very much Japanese in melody. So I watched more of the videos on their channel and was really blown away. Still, I thought they were just a flash in the pan and would be done when the girls grew up. Then I watched Road of Resistance - Live in Japan. OK, this band has some staying power. Then the Karate official MV was released. That's when I asked that fateful question "how did this happen?" So, now I know who Karen Girl's were, the names of all the members of the Idol group Sakura Gakuin for it's first 5 nendos (years) and many after. The names of most of the kamiband musicians. I know a bit about the Idol groups of Hello! Project and also NGZ46. Almost forgot, there is Actors School Hiroshima (ASH), and the Choreographer Mikiko including watching a documentary about her career. You did ask. 😁

I came across Babymetal randomly. Watched one or two videos but didn't register yet until I watched Catch Me If You Can. That one blew my mind. Then I said hang on a minute, let me see Gimme Chocolate again. That was in late 2018. I only listen to Babymetal now. Nothing else compares.

It's about f*$%ing time someone reacts to this song and actually pays attention to the lyrics. And that's no disrespect to you... it's just that I've seen so many reactions to Babymetal (various songs) where the reactor laments not understanding what they're saying. There are a lot of live performance videos of theirs that have English subtitles. There are a few songs that you should definitely do the lyric version so you're not completely lost. "Meta Taro" is one of those songs. Anyway, most of their songs have good, positive messages and/or interesting stories that you totally miss out on if you don't understand their lyrics.

@@bamos3D I agree. There are some people who take the time to understand them. I just don't understand why people are so bent on reactors seeing specific videos. I'm just glad people react to Babymetal at all. They deserve the attention much more than a lot of artists that get more attention. I just think that if you're not understanding the message of the song, you're really missing out on yet another amazing facet or layer of their music. 🤷‍♂️

Hi!!! Haha I love your reaction I've been listening to metal for over 10 years and Babymetal became one of my favourite bands of all time !!! it's different from "traditional metal" but they are metal without any doubt, and they are great, both the girls and the Kami Band (The musicians) are excellent at what they do, and in their live shows they always give 200% ... personally I love this band. You have a world whole to discover, Babymetal are a genre by themselves, you'll see hehe. Well greetings from Mexico !! /o/ PD: You should react to Headbangeeeer live :P

Are you reacting while on the treadmill? That's a good idea, haha. I am relatively a new fan from late 2019. I found BM out coincidently on You Tube recommendation. I think it was Gimme Choco. But I was hooked from that point on, listening to "Headbanger live" and "Onedari Daisakusen". And for over a year, I had spent more than 5 hours after my work in ordinary days, and almost all day on weekends, watching and reading BM videos and articles. After that, the fever finally cooled down and I started watching your reaction videos and commenting on them as well as learning my English. I am not a Metalhead. I have always listened to my favorite jazz fusion, Latin music and Rock. Mostly Japanese stuff, not so much foreign stuff. I have always had the same habit of getting carried away if I like it, but in the case of BM, I have surprised at myself by such getting carried away. And finally, I have arrived at Sakura Gakuin, Japanese Idol Group that is origin of BM. I have never expect that I begin to listen to Japanese Idol songs, haha. Well, only SG. Thank you from Japan.

Great thing about this performance was, most of the audience DID NOT know anything about them. They were waiting for the big metal acts, but see this weird group on the mainstage (they got bumped up) and just check them out and they got increasingly drawn to them and accumulating in that great last song and by that time everyone was just in on it. This was a significant show for them, the first the world really get exposed to them live, and the first time they get to play to a huge international audience. This was what shot them to stardom, apart from the KZfaq music videos. So knowing this was sort of their "debut" you can see from the audience how that turned out.

We're going to have to start talking about whether the whole band, and Su-metal, are some of the greatest metal musicians of all-time, very.....su-n. Pun intended. I've seen them 3 times now and have seen 1000s of bands over the years, there's nothing that just destroys a venue like a Babymetal concert. It's amazing, and them deciding to carry on in 2023 brings more happiness to my old musical heart than anything I can think of.

Great reaction. BABYMETAL and the Kami Band earned that chant of "We want more". This performance always makes me a bit emotional as it really was a day they made history and really started taking over the world. 🤘🦊🤘 I saw them somehow on the LINE app. I think someone sent me a link about them waaaaay back in 2011 to their official account. I saw how young they were and I wasn't into metal too much. Saw little girls and was like ummmmm I don't feel right looking at this. Didn't even listen. I regret that sooooooo much. Found them again later on KZfaq and was oh yeah.... sure I'll give it a look. Best decision ever.

I found them by accident, we used to look up the most random stuff we could find on YT on our work computer to leave for the next person in the office. Then I see these three tiny Japanese girls sing a heavy ass song about playing hiding seek with an Ogre. How fricking metal is that? I will never forget seeing Yui and Moa skipping along during the dirty ass drop in headbanger for the first time, I was instantly hooked. Do yourself a favor and watch Headbanger live, the crowd interaction for this band rivals anyone you have ever seen. Su has such control over the crowd and is such a natural performer, you have to wonder if she is Freddie Mercury reincarnate.

Nice reaction. One of Babymetal most important performances. Now known as the miracle at Sonicsphere. They had just a handful of fans who somehow made it to the front of the crowd. But as you can tell from this video. By the end of their performance they had won over the crowd. They garnished a lot of credibility from this show in the metal world of music. Babymetal was once considered a joke and made fun of. Just like this song. Babymetal stayed their own course, resisted and moved forward. Bullying was a big problem in Japan around the time this song came out. I wondered how much bullying did they suffer through by even folks they considered friends. It could not have been popular idea amongst them to drop the idol jpop music world for the metal life. It's been said that individually on their own Su, Yui and Moa would have been Jpop idol stars. Su's vocal power is enough for 10 people. Yui's dancing ability alone would have gotten her far. And Moa's charm, singing, dancing and the fact that the head of Tower Records is a big fan would of made her a star for years to come. They gave all that up to fight through a heavy metal industry that wasn't ready for them. Some thought it was the end of heavy metal. What they didn't realize at the time was they were watching the birth of a new heavy metal. Kawaii Metal. 10 years later their fight for a place is over. They have made their own seat at the table. Babymetal are now legendary performers and a song like this has got a long life ahead of itself. Enjoy your journey through the fox whole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

I discovered Babymetal back in 2014 (I think) when their song Gimme Chocolate went viral. I also had a metalcore band back then and I and my band used to do a lot of gigs with other bands from my school and one of my friend in the band showed me that song saying that it was hilarious. I think my friend only showed me that song because he thought it was weird but I actually ended up falling in love with the band. Plus, the girls and I am around the same age so I looked at Babymetal kinda like a rival to me as I also was part of the metal scene back then. I don't have a band anymore as real life sucks and I needed to study and get a real job. Coming from an Asian family, trying to take music as a career is a huge NO so I ended my band once I went to college. As much as I loved music, I never thought I would make it my career so ending my band wasn't hard at all as all of my friends pursued other careers as well. We only created the band for fun and we had a lot of fun playing music even though it didn't last that long. We only did it through out high school. But I still listen to Babymetal every now and then as they're my top 3 favorite band of all time. Plus, music is a huge part of my life and I'll never stop singing or listening or playing music.

In fact probably 90% of that crowd had no idea who they were. But this was their last song on their festival set and by that time they had conquered the crowd. At first they were more static and curious but then this was the result. This is commonly seen as their breakthrough performance to west audiences and the performance that put them on the international map for years to come. Many people realized they were legit and not just a gimmick at that festival. They apparently outsold every other band's merchandise at that festival and the girls themselves believe this performance is a special one in their career. But it's easy to get fooled by the storyline when you only watch this last song off their performance as the crowd was sold by that point and chanted "we want more" because most people knew that they had just witnessed something special and new being born that day in the realm of metal.
