I actually might know this guy IRL. His methods are extremely similar, he was very generous with psychs through facebook, had a large private group, and everything started being centered around DMT and then once they used a good amount he would start making pamphlets, calling it a family, and continuing to grow until I left. This is exactly his style.

Trust me, none of what he’d said up to that point was a red flag when it comes to Reddit. The userbase actively raises random people onto a pedestal all the time (Keanu Reeves being the best example), and Chris wasn’t even the first user to gain widespread popularity. (u/poem_for_your_sprog, u/Ramses_The_Pidgeon, and u/FucksWithDucks are all pretty well loved redditors for a lot of random reasons.) Incidentally, a good recent example is u/DeepFuckingValue, who sank a far too large amount of money into GMT stocks well before that whole fiasco went down, and when the value skyrocketed and he refused to cash in on the tens of millions he was making, the entire WSB subreddit basically worshipped him in a pretty similar manner to Chris, with common quotes like “if he’s still in I’m still in”. Reddit by itself is pretty much an ironic cult. It’s a common joke on the website to refer to the userbase as “the Reddit hive mind”, because pretty much everyone on there is the same type of person (that being young, progressive pseudo-intellectuals). The behaviour up until the cultish subreddit started was absolutely normal by the standards of the website, and honestly I wasn’t even at all surprised at anyone’s actions beyond that besides Chris’. The people saw someone giving out money and wanted in. Honestly I don’t think this detracts from Reddit itself. Obviously cults like this one might be dangerous, but people on the website are generally just smart enough to not let it spiral, hence the inevitable mutiny in the cantelmoism subreddit. Plus, nobody there takes themselves seriously enough to actually think the hero-worship is normal or good, and the people who take part in it are usually the ones making the most fun of it.

@@derpymule7977 I see Reddit as a new wave 4chan from a cultural perspective, where a lot of communities transitioned for the later platform. I mean look at the incel community where reddit users WORSHIP terrorists, the j4ilba1t community (granted was banned because of public backlash) where actual p*dos were sharing images, the school shooting community, the troll/hackers/ruin lives community, etc... Those originated on 4chan. Granted Reddit is much more PC nowadays and has became more of a forum for hipsters rather than neck beards but it's still baffling where it comes from and all of the fucked up shit are still going on on the website...

Banning a community for being "unmoderated" basically means reddit wants to wipe it off the website, but doesnt have a good reason to. What they do is find any reason (no matter how small) to ban each individual moderator of the subreddit, and then turn around and ban the subreddit for being "unmoderated" EDIT: And I actually would back reddit in this situation, I just wanted to mention that it was a thing.

Reddit constantly makes up the rules as they go along. The only real rule is "engage in the group think." For example Reddit doesn't tolerate 'hate speech'. As a part of not tolerating 'hate speech' Reddit allows communities like r/FragileWhiteRedditor to target people based on race and use racial slurs like "cracker".

Stuff like him telling people that DMT and meditation could cure all sorts of medical problems like arthritis, cancer, prevent heart attacks, etc. That was my big issue. Lots of potentially dangerous claims like that as well as discussion of having people move to his place and live with him in a DMT based religion of sorts. Desire to make a commune of sorts with his spirituality and harsh reactions to people questioning him.

This.... Literally fits the BITE model, if these claims are true. For those who don't know, the BITE model is a guide created by Steven Hassan to, in their own words, "describe the specific method that cults use to recruit and maintain control over people". It falls into 4 categories, those categories being Behavior Control, Information Control, Thought Control, and Emotional Control. Behavior: Modifying behavior through rewards and/or punishments. This was done through gilding posts, giving monetary gifts, paying for plane rides, or even paying for college of those who were considered to be particularly devoted. Information: Discourages outside information, particularly about DMT and cancer. divides info into "insider and outsider doctrine" . Basically, saying "we have the correct information, everything you've heard elsewhere is wrong". Creation of propaganda (the fake news publications, the podcasts, basically everything created to promote these beliefs would be considered propaganda. honestly, you could probably consider the whole subreddit to be propaganda), encouraging others to keep an eye on each other and use peer pressure to prevent people from doubting or leaving the group, Thought: Mind-altering Practices such as excessive meditation, chanting, and speaking in tongues, rejection of critical thought or analysis (anyone who criticized the group would receive death threats). Group members are encouraged to perceive themselves as 'special' and 'better' than those outside the group who are viewed with hostility. It's destructive and vicious, and it's effective because group leaders are willing to cause damage in order to gain power and control. I'm not sure what you meant by 'liberalisms' sole claim of certainty through sole individualism', but I kind of doubt the liberals have cornered the market on unreasonable, extremist assumptions or that all liberals or all conservatives think alike. Talk with individuals from both persuasions and you'll see a lot of crossover on that front. 'Us versus them' raises its ugly head in all walks of life, yes? Individual and social/societal needs are most effectively met when approached with balance, which would include methods of problem solving and social strengthening that are built, first, on what we have in common. As long as we continue to divide ourselves, no solutions or social strength can be obtained.

I feel like I am starting to see a growing interest in DMT. We did the crap in HS and honestly the best way I can describe it is you are basically becoming demonically possessed for 15 minutes. Besides, they probably just thought that it was some psycho which knew that was he was preaching was fake and not some mentally unstable person. Although, I can't confirm that. There were probably a few people that were concerned but were so put off by his behaviour that they felt uncomfortable trying to help.

madd_step After Chris guilding me on r/Jokes I explored his profile which led to me finding the sub, and while I never made any posts I saw almost every post on his sub. When I joined there were a few comments saying that Chris was mentally insane and they always got downvoted to shit, but after a while most of us realized that the comments were a reasonable and as more and more people started realizing the truth Chris spent less and less money on guilding (while he did buy stuff for people with real money. One of the last posts I remember was of someone claiming Chris bought them a new Mac, but in might have been one of Chris alts) anyways towards the end the sub essentially completely turnt against him and he got banned so the guilds completely stopped, leading to the sub essentially dying

Thanks for understanding the psychology behind psychosis as there is no conversation to be had. As someone who was highly intelligent at once, I found myself on the receiving end of a 3 month psychosis in which I was not only hospitalized, but, put on Lithium and multiple other drugs. The medicine made things worse and I transitioned back and forth from thinking I was God to the point I felt I was the Devil that needed to be dealt with. So any treatment that was offered was understood as welcomed suicide in the attempt to rid the world of the Evil that was within me. There was nothing that could be done but prayer. It was the only thing to free my mind from the depths of insanity. I've never understood my fall from grace or the reasons as to why I got better in spite of the Dr's suggestions of permanent brain trauma. Of all the medicine I received, it was faith at the end of the day to bring me back and allow me to enjoy the presence of everyone I thought I let down. What happens in Psychosis, stays in psychosis as we like to say. You become a 3rd person to a reality that you can't understand. I have terrible PTSD as an infantryman and nothing can compare to the terrors that come from Psychosis. I'd lose my life willingly before I ever risked my mind to that again. It's a living hell, I promise.

Glad to see this comment, it actually brightened my day, which i really needed right now. Psychosis and PTSD are terrifying because if you have bad symptoms, it's really hard to be sympathized with. I get you, i also went from thinking i was the messiah to thinking i'm the worst person ever. It's scary, and nothing short of a miracle helps. I'm still waiting for that miracle. Glad you got better, and i wish you the best in life. As for the subject of the video... I understand, this guy spread dangerous misinformation, but i think this vilification and witchhunt was just unnecessary cruelty towards a seriously mentally ill person. He should've gotten help, he was clearly not in his right mind, giving away all of his money to random people. I'm not saying encourage him, but not following him doesn't equal telling everyone that he's some sort of evil mastermind.

I was an atheist of 5 years before the most profound experiences changed my life. It wasn't easy and took years of conditioning myself but, I essentially re-mapped my neural pathways unknowingly. Constant work, motivational talks, and pychological videos on youtube. I even saved some of them and they'll be on my profile if you want to delve into them sometime. Move towards something, make your ammends with your people, and understand you will stumble along the way. I could go on forever man because this is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and know you've dealt with. Faith is what truly got me through. It'll help remind you who you are. The best is to become a new version of yourself and not replicate the old. That was my mistake for awhile. @@ScapegoatAngel Unfortunately mental illness is too finicky but at least it's being recognized. We've come a long way from lobotomies you know.. lol. You're absolutely right, it isn't a conversation many people want to talk about but you need some way to release those memories. You do need to vent but, when people hear uncomfortable stuff, something inside of them shuts down. It may be a defense mechanism. It's just a testament of what you've been through but, dwelling can be damaging and that could be a human thing to re-direct a possible relapse. Of course some flat out don't care but don't worry about those kinds of people, they're unimportant by default. Its the battle for the soul/mind but it can be repaired, that I promise you. I'm nobody special, just some guy who went to war and came back with fucked up coping mechanisms like everyone else. I'm sure you have some military family so I highly recommend reaching out to your squad if it ever gets heavy. They know you. If you don't have them already, you need people in your life. Trust me, Isolation is a soldier's worst enemy but it's also necessary in finding the parts of you that are you, instead of the attachments from your experiences.

It’s possible. But if he’s been preaching any amount of communism the way he talks, he’s probably been skimming the Bunker. If you go there yourself you can find it doesn’t take too far a read to see how every everyone there either saw a war coming or hoped one wouldn’t happen.

Deep down, he's a really good dude but his drug use combined with manic depression, and probably some undiagnosed shit, makes him seem crazy and like hes trying to get people to believe what he believes. He's really into geometric patterns and says crazy shit and claims psychedelics are the cure for everything. If he had a large lump sum of cash he would come up with a scheme to give it away to gain a following. It sounded like they were talking about my friend Devin the whole time I was watching this

@@Wheresmy240 I'm worried about this becaues i fear it gives a bad stigma to DMT now and everything related to it cause people will just think that everyone interested in it is straight up crazy i personally am interested in psychedelics however have never done DMT, i do believe there is a world outside of this one that you can acces with DMT or other psychedelics but seeing someone say shit like '' aliens chose me as their ambassador for this and that'' is just nuts.

I really believe in its potential and think everyone should look into them and decide whether or not they should give it a try. I highly encourage the use of psychedelics and think it's the key for global unity.

Psychedelics actually got me out of my bullshit mind. Originally, I believed in a lot of pseudoscience, and I believed in new age bullshit (which I didn't see through at the time) I did psychedelics, and realised I don't know shit, and now I'm rational and clear.
