This big turbo MK5 2.0T has lived a rough life. We fight problem after problem to try and give it a chance at redemption. But will it make it? We push this FSI to it's limits before ever making any progress on the dyno.

Great videos really appreciate the work. You asked for a conversion. How about a2.7t into a b6 s4. The 4.2 seem to be an issue and s4 have dropped in value. Would really enjoy seeing that swap. Keep up the awesome content.

I would LOVE to see a 3.6 VR6 from a b6 Passat swapped into a mk4 gti and then Turbo it.

The 3.6 is direct injection...so turboing/standalone become a huge cost compared to other port injected VRs. Which is why you don't really see it. Swap no problem, turbo much more expensive.

Really like the shifter setup. Sure as hell beats the Diesel Geek one I used to have. How does it compare to the CAE?? Looks as nice and I'm guessing a hell of a lot cheaper. Dope. Not surprised about fuel pumps or electronic stuff being bad out of the box. Definitely seen it many times over the years. Without the data logging or live data it can be a real head scratcher. Its easy to suspect the pump is functioning properly, and not the problem, since it IS new afterall. That oil pump shaft made it sound like a TDI lol. Glad its your dyno and the customer isn't at a dyno session he paid for having to diag and replace it. That would've been a bummer. Good job on resurrecting this thing dude! Came in questionable due to the money$hift, got some work done, tuned and worked through all the issues and definitely made some respectable numbers. The fact these drivetrains are so affordable and plentiful makes this a great daily to beat around in and have fun with. For sure there is more potential when theres enough fueling to play with. Keep it up man, really enjoyed this video. 👍

Thanks, it was a struggle for sure but determination and stubbornness paid off. As for the CAE shifter vs KDN shifter. I own both, I would chose the KDN over the CAE for a couple of reasons. One it's a bit cleaner without the reverse cable running outside of it, the KDN it's built inside. Second, the lockout option available for the KDN is what really makes it a game changer. As for price, similarly priced, KDN may be slightly cheaper and no wait time bringing them in from over seas.

What is the specific maps you have to change to get rs4 injectors to work right.. was it the start angle and injector timming? Do you have to have it spray later down low on lower rpms? I know injector constant has to also be lowered to .026690 I've heard others say you need to lower it more..

Good video as always! A random one but Just wondered if you’ve looked at the guys in the uk called R-TEC vag tfsi specialists, one of if not the best builders and tuners for the tfsi vag platform. They have 360-385bhp (meth needed for higher numbers for cooling) but without rods really pushing a stage 3 Ko4 build. I plan to build a 2007 mk5 golf gti edition 30 (already ko4 and correct diverter valve etc..) or would I be better off straight away going for “big turbo”, rods and pistons? I’m wanting at least 400bhp and will be a dsg, facelift uk car. Would i be playing with fire and a ticking time bomb with big turbo without pistons or rods?

This is the specific R-TEC uk 🇬🇧 built car, hybrid turbo but no rods, no pistons, no uprated rod bolts. 417bhp ? Would this be safe as seems not a lot of gain from a maxed out stage 3+ 2.0tfsi Ko4 @ around 350-385bhp, is it worth the little extra lag of the hybrid or is the gain from a hybrid very noticeable? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rsqSfNCJqNS-hqs.html

Stock FSI engine (excluding golf r) has junk stock rods. I would not want to push them they are basically old school 1.8t rods...aka junk.

@@BlaxJakx Although the K04 is a decent upgrade on these due to cost... it wouldn't be my go to just due to the very small power band and the need to really crank the boost to make any sort of power with them.

So how did you figure out the knock issue? I’m currently in the process of getting my car tuned and am getting some knock the tuner says everything looks good fuel and timing wise. So if I was to put some higher octane fuel in it and it was still knocking would that prove something else is wrong? I don’t even really know where to start with this issue. Thanks

If the timing is conservative and you put better fuel in and all else is fine then there shouldn't be any knock. Lots of things can contribute to it.

@@TheMeatncheese12 They are basically headphones for your engine... so yes they can pick up all kinds of noise if it's at a similar frequency to detonation.

There's a few different ways, we simply modify a stock pump.

Not through stock ECU but with a proper EBC and stock ECU.

No, modified stock pump. A different one because this one was trashed.

Definitely not stock injectors. These would be RS4 injectors.

I believe this is still stock release bearing. I did not do the clutch on this one... well I did the first one but he wrecked it and we got him a twin disc and he installed it.

@@Otte49 Full disclosure I never noticed. Ive done so many of these I know where the clutch engages so I don't typically ever push the clutch all the way to the floor. I know it can be a problem, just never noticed it in this.

The AWD series is a TSI same engine as in the MK6... it's not going to get much crazier than that setup. All the bells and whistles.

@@bike23august It's not a lot, it comes with that comp from factory. Good fuel or water/meth definitely helps when running higher compression. It's all about suppressing the knock.
