So basically, if Tommy Wiseau remade Django Unchained and cast himself as the lead... Actually no, that'd still be a better movie.

I worked at walmart when I was in high school and this movie was in the two dollar bin. I was so excited by the cover, not only did I buy a copy, but I also pulled every copy out and out them on the mainstream movie shelves. I was pretty disappointed after watching it though, that the cover had nothing to do with the movie. It was worth having in the collection though

A movie that's called Black Rage that has neither a black protagonist nor the rage from said protagonist. I think they put that title there to purposely cause controversy and attract attention. Brilliant...

@@sperrin this came out in 72, not even a decade after the watts police riot when the us army drove tanks thru the streets- and homes - of the black ghettos, no different from china's Tinanmon square, and just like Tianmon, its been purposefully suppressed in our historical narrative. When movies like "black rage" are placed into their historical context the elements seen as incredibly controversial today wouldn't even raise an eyebrow at the time. What pissed people off in 1972 was the idea that a white man could be cast as the brother of black man at all bc it meant that blacks and whites were both humans and inherently equal. Racists have been trying to justify white supremacy since they settled America, clinging frantically to any pseudoscience that could be used to paint non whites as non human animals

It was a common practice back then to have a folksinger who sounded like Joan Baez (i.e., every female folksinger in the '70s) to sing a weepy romantic ballad over people who were in a bad situation. It was meant to be poignant. Even the science fiction movie Silent Running did this, and they actually got Joan Baez to do it.

Lol, they were treated as more of an oddity in those times. Since albinos are still visibly and obviously black despite their light colored skin, they were believed to be smarter than darker skinned black ppl, but not on the same level as whites. At most, they were treated like weirdos and paraded around at circuses and as parts of freak show attractions. There are some tales though, of albinos dressing up and pretending to be white and successfully escaping the plantation, but the validity of some of those stories have yet to be proven. I suggest u look up the history of black albinos in American history, cuz it's kinda interesting in a cool, but pretty sad and pretty upsetting sort of way.

Far more common is a person defined as black due to the 'one drop' style rules, when the bloodline was actually diluted because... well... to the slave women... General point- lit of that time practically fetishized the idea of a near white woman. Because they wanted to own a white woman, but that is usually illegal.

Why does the VHS box make this look like a completely different movie? Implications of the cover: A slave has had enough, so he goes to town on some slave owners. The movie itself: An albino and a black man search for treasure, with a slave owner and some bounty hunters on their trail. Not to mention, that whole bike scene is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. It looks to be a two-seater, so why didn't they just sit on it?! Surely they could've found a way to carry the chickens and ride the bike at the same time.

This movie is so cringe worthy. It's almost amazing as to how this even got made:

The movie is awful, but it does have a nice soundtrack at least.

Christ. I have watched nearly every Snob episode and this is the WORST movie out of all 200+. Yes, including Nukie.

I love this movie in the 'WTF were they THINKING!' way. Makes me laugh every time I watch it. Nukie just puts me to sleep.
