Yep. Regular tv wrestling used to be stars beating up on jobbers and then the ppv had stars vs stars. but now, like Bobby said, regular shows are stars vs stars, same quality as a ppv. the only difference now is usually feuds/storylines reach some conclusion during a ppv.

The entire time Bobby was in WCW, he never participated in the on-air WWE bashing that would happen from time to time. Eric Bischoff did it regularly on Monday Nitro and, he had some of the other announcers do it but, Bobby wasn't going to burn that bridge.

He also stayed loyal to Verne Gagne in a time when everyone was bailing out and breaking their contracts and going to the WWF. He honored his deal to the letter and then moved on. @@GameTime-yj6qv Absolutely right. People forget that Austin wasn't wrestling every night in 1998 or 1999. That only ramped up when he returned from 2000 to the end of his career. Heenan makes a great point about the weekly RAWs being just as good as the PPVS. That is why I never even wanted to watch PPVs as a kid. I figured it was a huge waste of money and you're only missing 2 hours a month out of the the whole 10-15ish (depending on if there was a C show at any given point) hours of other TV they had each month. Nowadays, the PPVs are definitely must-see, but they are almost free anyway. Back then, watching RAW every week was plenty enough on the quality front each week.

Exactly, tv is as good as the PPVs. Since PPVs seem to have also become the exclusive belt changing arena, it demeans the point of investing in tv greatly at this point. So no point in even investing in tv either. Especially with belt holders being allowed to work part-time with their tiring generic lucha libre wrasslin styles. They keep giving you too many reasons to no longer want to watch or get invested in shows or PPVs with all these grifts.

I have an amazing story. One day I was driving home, when all of a sudden the Lord came to me in spirit. I felt very close to Him. I knew if I asked him to play any song on the radio he would, I guess to bless my faith. So I said "ok, Lord play "Come as you are by Nirvana". I turned on the radio and the song started playing right there on the spot, perfectly… I started getting flooded with chills like a waterfall, crying, and trembling. He stayed with me for 10 minutes in my driveway. until I got outta the car. A couple months after that I started getting amazing prayers answered way more often, because it helped me quit doubting when I pray and I was lined up with biblical instructions. It's 6 years later and I still get answered prayers in Jesus name.

Now that we have heard about Vince’s scandals, it’s interesting how Bobby just said he isn’t around Vince so he doesn’t know what Vince is like anymore. Bobby knows everyone and so there’s no way he didn’t know what was going on, but I’m not gonna say shame on Bobby because if I was in his shoes, I think I’d be very careful about what I say. The damage was going to be terrible, that’s why Becky Lynch shut her mouth too and didn’t want to talk about it even though she was a victim. She did the math and decided it didn’t add up to talk. Bobby reached the same answer she did right here.

I agree with Bobby about there being too many PPV’s. The PPV’s that have a gimmick are the only interesting ones to watch, sans Summer Slam and Wrestlemania due to them both having stacked cards. Keep Summer Slam, Royal Rumble, Survivior Series, Wrestlemania, Money In The Bank/King Of The Ring, and Elimination Chamber. That’s 6 interesting PPV’s you can put 2 months apart without having “Backlash” style snoozefest filler PPV’s that just set up matches for the bigger ones. Do those kind of matches on TV.

Anymore than 4 a year, and you have NO TIME to build up an angle! And this notion that angles have to change constantly waters it down. I'd love to see 2 really good wrestlers just essentially go at it for a year! Think of more and more creative ways to keep it fresh, hold onto what really works about it. Nothing will ever repeat the heat Flair and Dusty built up! No matter who Flair was working with, Dusty was going to be in the conversation. They could have worked in the bathroom of and airplane, and it would be better than whatever the main event in this year's Wrestlemania.

People really don’t like to admit but Vince IS the wrestling business. It wouldn’t be what it is without him. IDC what he’s being accused of.

It's not a one or the other situation though, you can recognize his contributions to the business while also recognizing the man's a monster.

@@Vaishino A lot of can’t be objective though and I’m done with labeling people as “monsters” in this day of age of cancel culture because to the SJWs of the internet everyone is a monster. Unless I see him on tape doing something, I’m not jumping on the bandwagons because of something someone said he did. Sorry

@@viperrecords3288 you're saying you need to see Vince on tape doing something to believe it's true. That's an unreasonable standard. Why not apply it to Roman Polanski because of his film contributions? Call me a mark if you want to, but Vince booked himself in angles where employees had to literally kiss his ass on live TV. He was paying settlements in exchange for silence on sexual misconduct to multiple people. If five people witness a hit and run are you going to say "sorry I need to see it myself to believe it?"

Vince could have done it without Hogan, but Hogan would never have achieved the success he did without Vince. Had Hogan stayed with the AWA, he would have been just another popular wrestler in Minnesota, and that's about it.

Why base your income on 4 events when you can get a big contract for a TV show? The business for Vince became better by making the TV show, not the events, the product.

I wonder what Bobby would thinknof Vince today? Vince was always a divided topic. But almost everybody calls him a genuis. Perhaps, but the was an awful lot of swings and misses as well. And his vanity almost ruined him 30 yrs ago. In this case it's almost impossible to seperate art from artist. In the end I'd say it was Vince's conqueror persona that outweighs his genius. As much as I hate it I'll give Vince that much. He risked everything and won in 85.
