I actually don't know anyone who doesn't have any empathy for animals, some more some less but none is kinda weird. My cat was always there for me, he grew up with me. He followed me to school, cared for me when I was alone and crying and now even after 14 years falls asleep right next o me on his pillow.

Had the same with my leopard gecko. “She’s just a gecko” I had two surgeries done on her, one a tail tip amputation, the other a spay due to her oviducts bursting and fusing to her kidneys. She passed during that recovery but that gecko was my life for the three years I had her after rescuing her as a full grown adult after she was dumped at a pet store severely overweight.

@Sheltieshangrila

I'm not sure about that. I rescue squirrels and they definitely don't act fine when something is wrong. One squirrel that I hand raised, Clyde, would come to me for help whenever something happened to him out in the wild. He once ripped off a toenail and it got infected. Then he once broke off his top teeth. And twice he had bad bouts with mites. Each time he came inside for a couple weeks to heal and be on antibiotics (though he was inside with the tooth incident for a couple months). But each time he would stay in his pouch while he wasn't feeling well, and would only peek out with sad eyes. He wasn't sad from being indoors b/c he'd even come to stay inside when really bad storms were brewing. I knew he wanted to come inside b/c he'd stay by the patio door until I opened it and then he'd go on his own to the big indoor cage and would crawl inside to get in his pouch. Then I had 2 wild yard squirrels that came to me when one had a massive tooth infection and the other was near death and we weren't sure what was wrong with him. The squirrels had known me for a couple of years because I fed them daily from my hands. They even knew their names and would come if I called them. Unfortunately Honey w/the infection was too wild and had to be put down because her teeth needed to be removed and there's no way she could have survived in the wild without them and she definitely wouldn't have let me care for her indoors. She was also pregnant too which was heartbreaking. Poor thing relied on me for weeks to feed her soft foods until she simply couldn't even eat applesauce due to massive throat swelling. Sketchers ended up dying overnight at the Vet. It appeared he had been attacked by another animal, but even the Vet didn't think that's what caused him to die. They think he had something else going on. But both squirrels came to me and refused to leave my patio because they knew I would help them. Sketchers actually let me pick him up, which is unbelievable since he was 100% wild. I didn't even have to use a trap. Sorry for writing a book. I just really miss those characters so much.

I bet someone could create trotters for Stubby by taking a mold of her back foot and using a 3D printer to create more. Pad the inside of them and it would probably feel a lot more natural to her. They could even have a dog wheelchair customized for her to use on her front legs so she could take breaks from having the printed trotters on. But the chair stoppers are pretty ingenious.

Honestly, even with 3D printed trotters, I don’t think she could truly have a good quality of life. I would have put her down. I love animals and I appreciate wanting to give them a chance but sometimes you have to think about the animal’s quality of life as they grow. A piglet is very different from a full grown pig. Do you think a plastic foot would be able to support a full grown pig?

@@Sheltieshangrila I generally don’t trust people to do the right thing. In my experience, people are motivated by emotions and selfishness. I’ve seen “kind-hearted” people do selfish things for love. My aunt had a dog that was really suffering. Arthritis, diabetes, blindness, etc. but she wouldn’t but the poor thing out of his misery. She clung to that dog for 15 years (at least 3 years after he started to suffer) because she “loved him”. That’s not love. Our dog got diagnosed with debilitating arthritis and we put him down the same day because that’s what was best for him.

Having seen parts or all of the recent videos already two or three times as they've been uploading and remixing these over and over again since the corona pandemic, I can only say that I wish we could have an update on some of the patients. Such as here, did Chippy live painlessly at least for the rest of his likely very short life? Full original episodes usually include very different animals but the remixes are often themed instead, so perhaps that's why you feel it is unusual for them to look after animals other than dogs or cats, while I tend to feel like there is a serious lack of dogs shown at times as they've focused on "exotic pets" and rodents.

A rat named Mittens (black, with white fur at her paws, so it looked like she had mittens) was my first childhood pet/first close bond with an animal. I think she somehow knew I was a young child, because I swear it was like she babied me. They're such sweet little blobs. I can't remember exactly how many rats my family has had in my lifetime (we don't have any now, but when I was a young child we had a long run with 'em), but a number of them got cancer. It's tragic how common cancerous tumors are for ratties. D: Though, despite some animals having short lives can be a con, in a way they're actually very important for existing just how they are. They only need a few years- sometimes not even that- to live a life full of love and happiness which they share with us along with their little personalities. It might contribute to how I view the adoption of senior animals. A couple years with an animal can be a priceless treasure. A lifespan can be naturally short, or at the later points of a life... quality of time is what matters in the end, and what we remember the most fondly.

The ingenuity that Dr. Chris showed in the case of Stubby is just amazing. They should contact companies that make prosthetics. I'm sure they could engineer more permanent solutions for this little pig. What wonderful owners not to give up on this little baby.

The way Dr. Chris sat with the women and chipmunk was amazing I don't see any other vet being so sweet telling her that her little guy knows she loves him. And that he'll be there if she needs a shoulder to cry on.

I totally agree with owner number 1, my dogs have always been my babies, especially my last pupper Gracie. She passed last year after 11 years, and I haven’t gotten over the loss completely. But when I do I plan on adopting another rescue and babying that pupper with for the rest of his/her life.

When they said some people would think it's a chipmunk that reminded me of my fish my fish died almost 2 years ago not long after my sister and her fiance moved away I had always been attached to him and been scared of his death but once I was alone he was all I had and I grew more attached then he got trapped under a decoration and got fin rot and I had him in a nurse tank and I tried my best to take care of him I slept in the same room as him every night and did so much research but he kept getting worse I knew he was going to die but when it actually happened I cried the whole night it was horrible I was heartbroken and organized a little funeral for him a week later it still hurts and I don't think I'll be getting another fish any time in the next few years but I'm looking into getting a dog sometime this year

One of the most insidious things about breast cancer is by the time a lump gets to the point where it is palpable (felt under the skin) and detected the patient has already had the cancer for awhile prior to detection. We have no idea how long my Mother had breast cancer, she found the lump by accident. Stage III. That was 12 years ago! Now she is cancer free! I lost both of my Grandmother's to breast cancer, my Mother had a negative BRACA but still got cancer so regular mammograms are very important especially with a family history of cancer.
