So...do you think, Link's ability to instantaneously change clothes, even in mid jump attack is a Sheikah slate power similar to the disguise drop of the Yiga? One moment he is a harmless traveler in a blue tunic and the next, a Sheikah ninja in sneak suit.

I discovered through another video that fans had decoded the Hylian text on the backstory art piece (v=q-GjWof7Kx4 Note that this video was made before the game was released.) It reads: "Hylians pass stories of a destined time long past where multiple races lived and worked together in harmony. The Sheikah Tribe's blue aura breathed through the land and this mutual prosperity continued until a cataclysmic disaster stuck. The Hero and the Princess attempted to seal the terror which became known as the Calamity Ganon. Divine beasts awoke from four directions and deployed a mechanical army which made the King and his people fearful. They fractured Ganon's power and sealed him but the Sheikah were banished from the land ever since." This implies that it was not the Sheikah Slate, but rather the Divine Beasts and Guardians that made the king fearful.

Kohga probably knows about the slate because Yiga are Sheikah, they've just separated from the rest of the race to get back at the Hylians. The Yiga can also teleport because they're Sheikah, who are known for being adept in combat and are very ninja-like, Monk Maz Koshia is a Shiekah monk but he uses a lot of techniques that Yiga use...... because those techniques are Shiekah techniques

@NintendoBlackCrisis : an Important point that I thought maybe you might have glossed over without realizing. When you use the Sheikah Slate at a Divine Beast's Map podium and it's terminals, it says "Sheikah Slate Authenticated" Obviously there's some kind of Sheikah Magic Encryption involved, The Sheikah would know that their technology could be replicated, so there would have to be a way to ensure that the Slate Zelda has (that ends up with Link/You) is the only way to operate the technology. (Other than being it's chosen Pilot, apparently, since that seems to work on some kind of telepathic connection between Pilot and Beast)

being able to create an "anti-aging rune" seems to fit well with the "Sheikah technology is based on Timeshift Stones" theory. If that is the *basis* of their technology, then it makes a lot of sense that one of the first abilities you'd learn to harness is time-reversal.

I have a theory. As I watch your videos on different BOTW theories, I feel as though my theory has some weight to it. It is that the soul of the hero, Link's soul, is losing the will to go on. In the canon Legend of Zelda games, Link appears to becomes less expressive. In Windwaker, you see him show several emotions through his reactions while in BOTW he is very stoic and has the best poker face. Now in certain diary entries, he is said to be expressive BEFORE he comes ino contact with the Master Sword. This leads me to believe that Link aquires some, if not all, memories of his past incarnations. We see Link be attacked physically and mentally throughout each adventure and is very possible that Link gets hit by the trauma his past selves recieves when first drawing the Master Sword. This is mostly speculation but it does give you something to think about.

Something to think about is how the sheikah slate resembles the console you use. for all the people playing it in handheld mode, it almost exactly represents how Link would use the item, such as for motion controls in shrines, aim controls and divine beast controls. If you think about how the slate replicates what we play on and how its designed only for the player (and link) i think it resolves most of those issues

Hmm. I just realised the "age reversal" and "age boosting" runes could be built upon in the sequel as its way to time travel instead of a gate or ocarina.

Now I finally see a realistic reason to why the Royal Family outlawed the tech.. this makes me think. I’m currently typing this on my cell phone, could nintendo be hinting at something more. That our civilization could be going down a similar path that the Sheikah experienced 10,000 years ago. If so we’re in for a rude awakening in say.. 100 years ;). Sorry just had to, but seriously another exceptionally well made video mate!

If Nintendo were to make a Zelda game involving going into space (or something super advanced like that) using Sheikah technology, I'd be super hyped. Maybe they could make a thing where you could create your own Sheikah rune (kinda like how Nintendo Labo has conditionals/programming basics), possibly in a sequel to BOTW (after defeating Ganon).

I doubt anyone will see this after 4 years, but I feel like this theory can be improved when taking the DLCs into account. I believe it is reasonable to assume that the Sheikah race has innate magical abilities, or at least know very advanced magic-like techniques. Both the Yiga and Monk Maz Koshia are seen using a set of 9 symbols that are associated with Kuji-in, AKA the "Nine Hand Seals" (Rin, Pyō, Tō, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai and Zen). Perhaps by using these techniques they can channel special abilities such as manipulating megal objects, hovering, teleporting, creating copies of themselves, changing their own size, etc. It seems that there was never a need to create more Sheikah Slates because the ancient Sheikah already had all these abilities. So, similarly to how Gorons made the flamebreaker armor or Mipha made the Zora chestpiece thingy for Link, the Sheikah Slate was created by the Sheikah for Hylians who don't have these abilities, or specifically Link, and the runes were modelled after the powers the Sheikah already had. If other Slates existed at some point, they were probably more like mobile phones today, without special runes like bombs or the shrine sensor that only really make sense for Link to use. In other words, Link's Slate could've been a specialized variant just for him. Another thing I'd like to note is that it seems fairly unlikely the shrines were built after the Sheikah tech was banned, since there's a shrine right inside a supposedly well guarded area (docks are generally guarded) inside Hyrule Castle. And don't forget that HUGE dome right below the Sanctum. It'd be pretty hard to covertly construct anything there. Not to mention there are shrines near any other populated area like stables or villages. Rather, I don't think we can assume that the tech was banned RIGHT after the Calamity hit. Since it happened over 10,000 years ago, a few years wouldn't necessarily be accounted for in the legends told nowadays. So I believe that the Sheikah started constructing the shrines and probably the towers and pillars around the castle (and possibly more that we'll get to see in BOTW 2) right after the calamity but before the tech was banned. Following Hylia's revelations, they knew that Ganon would eventually return, and they probably already assumed that he would learn from his mistakes, so they started building trials for the next hero. This must've also happened in cooperation with ALL of the races, as the shrines can be found in or next to each of their traditional settlements. For Zora's in particular, we know that they helped building that big dam. We can also assume that they worked with the now missing Zonai, like you've already theorized, but we don't know much about them at this point. BOTW 2 will hopefully shed light on that. Now, regarding the banishment of the Sheikah technologies. Considering that the Hylian goverment is most likely not completely stupid, I doubt they would've ordered all tech to be permanently destroyed or otherwise gotten rid of. As we know, it was all systematically buried instead, including the towers and some (but not all!) shrines. They probably knew that Ganon would return once again, so perhaps most of the tech can be sealed away until then, but be retrieved if absolutely necessary. While some (many) records probably got lost, I believe the instructions on how to use the tech might not have been preserved by the Sheikah but rather the royal family of Hyrule instead. We know they value knowledge and documentation, since they have a library that's bigger than some houses, which is quite impressive. So uh yea. I don't really have a punchline for this or anything, I just think this might make a decent improvement to your theory. If anyone sees this, let me know what you think :)

Considering the things you talked about, it feels kind of weird that nearly everyone in Hyrule is convinced that Link is Link when they see the Sheikah Slate. He never even owned it before. Perhaps Purah told everyone that he would be bearing one when he came back - but no, everyone thought he was supposed to be dead. What if Symin borrowed Purah's Slate and went out one day? Would people have thought he was the hero? He's the right age, after all...

Do you think we will ever see Hyrule in a tecnological craze period? We're always thrown into the periods where the least people and tecnology are present, so i think it would be cool to have a game that explores the highs of Hyrule.

Purah's anti-aging experiments were funded by Zelda's father, as a desperate attempt to save Zelda's dying mother... the anti-aging experiments were a success... but were too late to save Zelda's mother. The Anti-aging treatment was abandoned and Purah was the only clinical trial... the funding dried up as Purah stated. Convince me otherwise :)

My theory about the completed map from when zelda had the slate is that it was filled frome the start but was wiped to make link travel further around hyrule. That's why the compendium us not complete even though zelda took pictures of materials, and the memory photos were gone.

I like the theory of multiple shiekah slates I haven't played BOTW yet (sadly) but I watched many videos about it and during the videos of the champions ballad I asked myself "how could the champions solve their trials without Link's/Zelda's shiekah slate or any kind of shiekah slate? And how did they managed to control their divine beasts?" But with possible multiple shiekah slates they could have done their tasks. And after each champion was defeated by the blights, the blights used those shiekah slates to take control over the divine beasts. Well done 👍👏

Something else that points to more sheikah slates, Koga says "could that be a sheikah slate?" He says "a" sheikah slate and that usually means there are more than one thing, like "a" McDonald's or "a" Legend of Zelda game.

Hmm... I have a topic to reccomend ... But I couldnt find much on the topic myself. What is the 'blue flame' that powers all these devices? There are two ancient furnaces in the world. They produce an undying blue flame... But what is it? It certainly works like fire... But interestingly the brush fires it starts are ...just regular fire. So it is obviously some kind of high heat energy that can start fire, but is not actually fire... In a sense. An interesting thing to note here is that the ancient furnace is powered by a blue flame, and it is what creates ancient weapons. Ancient weapons glow with the same orange and blue hue as guardians (their lazers), shrines, towers and even the sheika slate. so I think they are powered by the same energy - the blue flame. The blue flame also shares the same hue as the timeshift stones in SS. The robotic enemies in that game are powered by timeshift stones, and they have the same glow. Theres a bit to work with... Whether or not it's worth the effort to research is up to you though.

The idea of using the shieka slate in a future Zelda game is awesome. The runes made BOTW so awesome because, in addition to complete explorational freedom, you can manipulate the environment in some pretty unexpected ways. In my opinion, the best thing that Nintendo could do for the next game is to create another open world with the same physics engine, build on the shieka slate and create more new runes, and tell a more interesting story that actually makes the player care (I.e. Majora’s Mask)

Great Theory once again! I've noticed that the Yiga Clan Members appear in every region (there are 15 tower-regions) except the Great Plateau. I don't know if I'm the only one so please answer to that comment if that isn't the case for you. Or maybe the slates (or some specific slates) are made to recognize their golders and to grant them access to a specific limited set of functionalities? Like maybe the entirety of the Sheikah tech is made to recognize things like The Hero who Wields the Sword that Seals Away the Darkness or whatever the title is, and to grant him the tools to fight Ganon without making it accessible to a simple traveler.

wouldn't have been fun and amusing if the Sheikah Slate had a Rune that turned the Sheikah Slate into a portable Guardian laser weapon for Link to against enemies. (Because it would be OP, it would have to have a recharge limit as well as having to power it up making temporarily vulnerable when using it.)

While watching the playlist of theories, I went back to your Kass Teacher theory and the Dying Master Sword Theory and it made understanding the sequel's trailer easier. What if they were heading under the castle to charge the sword with those crystals with the spirit energy in them? And when you mentioned time travel in a recent theory and the fact that Kass's teacher is dead... That got me thinking about the Great Plateau and the Woods. What if the Guardian Arrows send the person hit to one of the splits in the timeline?

You can se what the creators are trying to do. When the world was first introduced to the sheikah, it was in OoT - there insignia found around hyrule castle in LttP symbol. From the Eastern Palace east of hyrule castle in LttP, the fighting statues in Link to the Past (Ltt)) and the constant fighting statues we see throughout the Zelda series like Minish Cap and the Oracle series - they are trying to present the case this was the Sheikah Race. The warrior design surrounding the hero, ganon and Zelda are of a very similar design to the Gameboy fighting statues.

Link wasn’t mad at Zelda for holding the slate. It was quite the opposite. He was busy thinking about that big, beautiful Personality.

About the pictures- Zelda knew that the shrine of resurrection would cause Link to lose his memories, so she went and took pictures of some of the places that they visited together. Maybe.

I actually had a dream last night about what if the Sheikah Slate was dangerous and I came across this video.

Although this is a super late comment, I have to say something. Remember how the Yiga use to be Sheikah? I believe that Master Kohga was very possibly around by the time the first Sheikah slate was around, or other Yiga knew about it's existance. It's unlikely Kohga has a Hyrule Ipad, but just heard of it.

By the way, have you ever thought that the guardians turned on Hyrule, not because of Ganon magic, but because someone in the Yiga helped. The Yiga are good at disguise so it is possible they slipped in with the sheikah or perhaps always had an override code. There were traitorous sheikah that were ready to strike. Ganon was just a convenient way for them to gain power without drawing suspicion.
