You know, despite many baristas finding a million flaws of your brew, I want to express my appreciation to your process. The simple manner in which you made this cup of coffee brings me joy. And, I just know this translates into your overall demeanor. I hope I may one day reach this level of simplicity. For it is surely a great way to enjoy life. And I mean come on! A tree?! We love that here.

Hello there!!! Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes I am definitely not a barista, but honestly think there’s a lot more people out there that are just everyday people like me , who sometimes appreciate the finer things in life, so this is what the video is on here for. I am not claiming to be a barista, nor do I have the ins and outs of the science behind the perfect espresso. What I CAN Tell you though , is , I can guarantee the way I make my latte every morning is BY FAR far superior to a regular drip coffee. Thanks for watching !! I appreciate your comment very much!

I have tried for weeks to foam the milk so that it gets this thick creamy consistency. Sometimes the milk was too foamy sometimes too liquid and sometimes both. I have seen many videos on YT that have told me something about "rolling phases" and "pulling phases". Or how I have to hold the nozzle to the millimeter and at what angle. And now you come and just put the cup under the nozzle and the milk is virtually perfect. Thx buddy. :)

Hey, so I picked up this machine and am playing around with it. Just using the auto double setting and a grind setting of 15, I’m getting about a 17-18 second shot. Any tips pulling a shot around 25-30 seconds?
@hazelcreekheritagefarm80923 жыл бұрын
@@christineprovo3527 hey so that’s definitely something you’ll have to constantly play around with. Because every single brand of coffee and the freshness has a huge role to play when it comes to shot time. I have figured out only to use beans from local roasters to make sure it’s as fresh as possible. And with that , I have figured out 14.5 seconds on a 4 grind size. Take that formula and folly my intructions on the video. When it comes to pack, that’ll be hard to explain but the pressure I use is is hard as I can but a little less than that. I’m sorry if that dissent make any sense , but that’s what gives me a 30-36 second shot every time.
@christineprovo35273 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your help! Is that a 4 grind on the burr setting or the knob? I’ll definitely be playing around with it - already it’s a better shot than my old machine, so that’s good.
@hazelcreekheritagefarm80923 жыл бұрын
@@christineprovo3527 you bet 4 on the grind knob to the left of the machine. I’m glad I can help!! Also I’m embarrassed to say this but when I first bought the machine, I went through a whole massive bag of coffee beans trying to figure it out lol. Don’t do what I did. The grind knob go down slowly. It will take a couple ports filters worth for the burr to actually adjust to the setting. But don’t throw the espresso out, use it for your latte, just expect it will take a few espresso days to get it set.

the frothing is a bit bad you have to hold the milk pitcher with your hand and you have to put the tip of the steaming wand in one of the corners and start steaming by letting air through the milk and you can hear the tis tis sound leave that for about 5-6 sec depending on your drink if its a latte you want a little bit of foam so you can do latte art or if you are making a cappuccino you should let more air through so when your done letting air through you should let the steam wand deep in and make sure the milk is spinning while your doing that put your hand over the milk pitcher and see if its the right temp its about 60 celsius when you get this temp you can't lay your hand over the milk pitcher and thats it thank you i really enjoyed your video .

My next one is Either this or the Oracle Touch. I have had the BES 870XL and loved it to death for over 5 years then sold it. Went to the Bambino Plus (using it right now) I am on the fence 500 is not worth it. Drip tray is too small have to backwash it every 200 shots or so... All in all, you have to be a true coffee lover for 900USD or 2600USD Oracle T. I bought a Sage Barrista Pro today and have been working on getting a good shot. This is my first "real" espresso machine. Previously we had a phillips saeco automatic machine. So I am an absolute novice! I've been at it for 4 hours and went through about 300 grams of coffee. Which was expected of course. The Coffee I'm using is: - A freshly opend bag of L'OR ONYX - Intensity 12 (Intense & Powerfull) - I think it's to dark and oily for this machine The tools I'm using aren't ok I think: - Kitchen scale which measures to the gram (will need to buy a different one) - The standard Sage Tamper and my finger (I'll buy a palm equalizer and tamper) - The standard Sage Portafilter with the single wall dual shot filter (I'm considering buying a open bottom portafilter so i can see if there is channeling) I eventually got a fairly good shot out of it. The taste is awesome, the crema is ok! However the settings I'm using concern me a bit. - The main bur is set to 1 (which is the finest it can be as far as I know) - The grind coarseness of the grinder is set to 1 (which is the finest it can be as far as I know) - Weight: --> I started with 18 gram weighed per shot then grind --> I went down to 16 gram weighed per shot then grind --> I then configured the grinder time to 15.5 seconds which results in 16/17 grams of coffee grounds --> While grinding I wiggle the portafilter around to make the grounds fill evenly and make sure no coffee spills - I measured my presure with the Tamper on a people and I'm between 15 and 20 kg --> The pressure is exerted as evenly as possible --> Before tempering I move the coffee around so it's even, then I move the coffee that is over the edge to the middle from four sides with my finger, then tap the portafilter on a rubberpad on the counter --> The result consistently presses the Tamper into the filter, using my fingers around the Tamper brim, my fingers are on the fiter filter side when done with the Tamper. The Tamper is at a height where the champfer of the thickest part starts, as seen from the side of the filter. - For the shot: --> I set the heat 1 setting higher --> I preheat the porta filter --> I do a shot without the portafilter to make sure it's clean --> I set the portafilter and turn it in, in the beginning needing quite a bit of force. Afterwards noticing that keeping the handle on the portafilter in a different way makes it easier. --> On the machines timer the coffee starts to come out after 8 seconds and runs for 18 to 20 seconds. The resulting espresso has a full taste and is neither sour nor bitter! The crema is probably a bit thing though. My concerns: - The grind settings: --> I'm at the absolute thinest grind the machine can do, this concerns me. --> I will be getting lighter blends, which will probably need a coarser grind, but am a bit concerned about reaching the limit on the first day/calibration - The storage basket for the filters. This gets wet! Is that ok, or will that damage the other filters? - From the videos I saw this machine should run 18 to 25 seconds. Which I'm just barely getting. Is this ok am doing something wrong? Any advise/help/considerations would be greatly appraciated! I can make a video of my process and make it available to you if that helps.

Hey there ! The coarser you grind, the faster your shot will be. In my experience, my settings for the grind size ( no matter the brand or freshness of beans) always varies from 3 to 5. Rarely any higher than that. As far as the amount, that ranges anywhere between 13.5 and 15 seconds. What I have found with the tamp, the feeling should be almost like a stuttering feeling. Kinda hard to explain sorry. But don’t push too hard. Every different bag of beans will have a slightly different setting but will typically be within the perimeters I have mentioned. I also strive very hard to achieve a 32-36 second shot as that will give the optimal espresso flavour and quality. With you mentioning about you puck being wet, that to me sound like the espresso is being under extracted which could mean an improper tamp, or to coarsly ground beans. I would try to dial back your grind, and start with that. I hope this helps, feel free to ask more questions! We’re all in this together, and don’t give up! It will be worth it once the learning curves get a little less crazy Thanx for watching!

@@hazelcreekheritagefarm8092 Hi thnx for the feedback and input, i appreciate it and it does indeed help. The grind is as fine as it gets (assuming that the bur setting of 1 is indeed the minimum). I took a scale and measured my tamp presure and it's between 15 and 25 kilo's. Today I did get a better extraction time of 21 seconds. The taste is great though. The puck is reletively dry now, I do expect I have some channeling going on though. since often a small part of the puck sticks to the filter.

I have honestly never measured out my beans , I just use the hopper and the settings. So I honestly can’t help you with that , but typically a good shot of espresso, your puck should not break off or stick to the bottom, it should come out all in one piece with just a little bump and it should come out.

If you use 5 grind and 14 sec for double what do you use for a single shot?
@hazelcreekheritagefarm80922 жыл бұрын
Hey, I very rarely use single shot. I honestly don’t think I have ever used it. Sorry but I can’t help you with that one!

Can you steam the milk at the same time as the espresso is pouring with this machine?
@hazelcreekheritagefarm80923 жыл бұрын
Hey there ! No you cannot do both at the same time. You would need a double boiler espresso machine to make that happen. Thanx for watching!

Hi there ! I’m a new owner of the Barista Pro. Something is troubling me while using this machine and therefore need some inputs for those who already owned one. It took the grinder 28-30 secs to grind 17.5g of beans which I roasted a week ago. The grind size was set to 15 . I personally feel the grinder is taking too long to do the job. The instruction manual and the KZfaq videos I watched presented only 13 secs in general. Can you enlighten me?
@hazelcreekheritagefarm80923 жыл бұрын
Hey there ! First of all , thanks a lot for watching! So from what I understand, is the grind size( the knob to the left side of your machine, )will set the coarse- fine ness of the grind. That is very very touchy, and it is advisable to do it one click at a time for each espresso shot you make until you get the espresso strength you desire. , then leave it there. The grind time, is the knob at the front of the machine, and from my experience have never had an issue with it being out of time.

Also I don’t really measure out my beans, I simply put beans in the hopper. And let it ride. I find I get very good quality espresso doing it that way. I have never attempted to measure/weigh beans
