Without the USA economy, military presence, and military bases across the globe, Europe wouldn’t be able to enjoy their free healthcare, education, and 30 days off of work vacation. If they were to abandon posts across Europe, the EU borders are now vulnerable and that means the tax month that Europeans pay for their social programs would have to be reallocated towards defense and the military now, which means that healthcare won’t be so much free anymore.

My late father was assigned to the USS Enterprise, the very first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. They had a video game arcade on board that had like 10 games and an ATM machine that held a million dollars.

Did you cruise around the SF Bay? I also went on that cruise in the 80s and that's when all the officer's family members were allowed on board. That was the day I got to visit my dad's disbursing office, the convenience store, the arcade, and the ATM. He used to show me the little wooden mini-crates that held large quantities of bills inside their little safe. thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/wooden-crate-full-money-29658187.jpg @@Seastallion

@@moomoopuppy508 Yeah, if I recall the ship went underneath the Golden Gate Bridge into the Pacific and then sometime later turned back around and went back into the Bay. While aboard my dad showed me his office, and I followed him all over the ship while he worked. I remember having to jump through every doorway which I think they called knee knockers. I had to almost run to keep up with my dad. He never left me behind but he did keep a brisk pace for a while. We visited what I think was a boiler room, a place where they prepared the oxygen tanks for the pilots, and various other places. I remember riding on one of the aircraft elevators and being a little freaked out because we were getting closer to the rushing water as the elevator went down. You could see it through the metal grating on the floor. I was about 7 years old at the time, and I think that was in 1985. I got to watch the aircraft take off (they played a trick on me by having me takeoff my hearing protection just as a jet was taking off. Jerks; 🙄), and I remember going into the aircraft hangar where a lot of people were at the time. It was indeed one of those cruises where families were brought aboard. In my case it was just my dad and I. He was a Chief Petty Officer by then.

A part they neglected to mention was the F-35 was specifically designed to interact with and control multiple combat drones simultaneously on missions. The F-35 is basically an AWACS platform with missiles on it.

There's probably a reason why some information is left out. Not every detail about our military capabilities is international public information.
@brianeleighton
@brianeleighton 10 ай бұрын
@@hollyheikkinen4698 That tidbit has been actually widely touted. As well as the technology that literally allows the pilot to see THROUGH their aircraft as if it was invisible. This means that when the pilot looks at the floor of the cockpit, they instead see the terrain they are flying over. If this information has been released by the DoD, imagine what features are actually classified. When deciding classification, the DoD balances security with deterrence. Those features I mentioned were allowed into the public domain by the DoD and Lockeed/Martin as deterrence. It is the same as during the Cold War. The US and the Soviets would be very public about the unveiling of new weapon systems and would brag about the capabilities as deterrence to their enemies. At the same time, they would keep the system's maximum capabilities a very closely guarded secret. Edit: An example for here would be that they widely tout the F-35's ability to serve as an AWACS platform to control drones. That is public knowledge. The classified part is exactly how many drones it can command simultaneously.
@hollyheikkinen4698
@hollyheikkinen4698 10 ай бұрын
@@brianeleighton I didn't say that the tidbit you shared was classified. In general, not every detail needs to be broadcast in every video. Technology is constantly changing & they can do a lot of amazing stuff nowadays.

That's a potential gen 6 capability for the b21. The F35, which we sell to other countries, definitely does not have that ability. Even the F22, our ace in the hole, never to be sold master class in multirole stealth capability, does not have the gen 6 concept integrated. Maybe they retrofit it in future blocks, but currently it's not even a mentioned possibility. None of this is classified information- that refers to the limitations and capabilities of whatever system you're thinking about, not broadly capabilities. Like the anti sam laser on the AC130j isn't classified in it's existence - just in what exactly it can do. And the fake range on the ATACMS you can read about is an example of counter-intel where everyone thinks that's how far it can reach.... but it's not. And you can say whatever you want that you read off Wikipedia. The classified stuff... I assure you, that's special. And we might be getting a show here pretty soon.

@Frindleeguy It's not a mental leap. Sensor fusion and high-speed datalinks are already present. Line of sight coms can be done by low power laser. Boeing already working with Austrailians on wingman drone concept. Russia is feverishly working on their wingman drone for the su57. US Navy wants a tanker drone, and I wouldn't be surprised if overlap to wingman.

Quick note...not to spoil things, but that image at 7:13 that you folks were so taken with is not a picture of a US fleet. It is a picture of a multinational naval exercise that is held every other year...on even numbered years...in the Pacific. The exercise is called RIMPAC...short for Rim of the Pacific...and it is most definitely a US led operation, but it involves 20 or more countries participation...the 2022 RIMPAC had 26 participating nations, I believe. That is definitely a US nuclear powered super carrier in the lead, and there will be at least 10 or more other US ships in the group behind the carrier, but there are also ships from Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, New Zealand and a bunch of others in the picture as well...at least those are just some of the nations that regularly participate. In fact, in the past the US has even allowed ships to participate from China's PLAN a couple of times.

That photo is used because the fleet doesn’t operate that close. Typically each ship may be miles from the nearest ship. This distance allows a large defensive perimeter for the carrier and dramatically reduces the risk that multiple ships can be compromised by something like a nuclear strike.

You are correct the F-22 can sneak up on its enemy without them knowing. There was a recent incident were 2 F-22s flew up to a pair of Iranian F-4s that were following an American drone. The pilots flew up under the F-4s to check what ordinance they were carrying and the F-4 pilots had no idea they were under the planes until they came up beside them. The F-22s then radioed them politely saying “ You should probably go home now.” The pilots immediately turned their planes around and ran for their lives. 😂

What Napoleon once said was both true and wise. Amateur warriors discuss tactics, while professionals discuss logistics. A carrier group can operate the ships for years on the reactors, but are limited by the intake of food and fuel to support the crew and aircraft. The same applies to the submarines. The reactor can go for years in a SeaWolf class, but the crew can operate for only about a single 4-6 month deployment before running out of food. Also, a carrier group is also comprised of at least two destroyers and/or frigates plus one or more attack subs. The supporting surface combatants are still diesel-fueled only.

The pilots flew up under the F-4s to check what ordinance they were carrying and the F-4 pilots had no idea they were under the planes until they came up beside them. The F-22s then radioed them politely saying “ You should probably go home now.” The pilots immediately turned their planes around and ran for their lives. 😂

One weapon not mentioned are Tomahawk cruise missiles. These missiles can be launched from surface ships and submarines. The TLAM-C is a convensional missile. The TLAM-D is a missile that dispenses cluster bombs to be dropped on troops. The Tomahawk Anti-Ship Missile (TASM) is designed to go low near a ship and smash into a hull at the water line. There were nuclear versions but they have been decommissioned.

I find mum's response perplexing about the nuclear threat. Born in 1980 and growing up in the USA I have always worried and heard about our possible nuclear destruction. There were many fictional movies about it or with nuclear holocost as an underlying theme. Even after the fall of the Soviet Union the fear was the former Soviet weapons falling into the wrong hands.

I grew up in Tucson, AZ. during the 60's and 70's. Due to our strategic value with the airplane boneyard, there were 18 Titan II ICBM bases surrounding the city. In other words, to protect us, the government made us even more of a target. 🤣

I was a civilian support to the US military for half my life. My relations or ancestors have fought in Vietnam, Korea, WWII, WWI, Civil War (both sides), War of Texas Independence, War of American Independence and in preceding colonial wars back to 1607. Where did this come from? Because half my ancestors were bare knuckle fighters for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland ;-)

Well, when you come to America, go to Arizona and you can fly in a military jet. It does cost money. It’s a company that buys the military jets and refurbish them for cuisine, and take civilians up for a flight

The engineering to convert the theoretical aspect of radar-absorbing non-reflective materials (which was actually ithe work of a Russian physicist who defected to the US) was done by British engineers and physicists working at Groom Lake. In appreciation, the RAF was offered the F117 but declined.

How’s Millie? Love her Mum being in the videos, I live in Louisville, Kentucky so every year we have a 3 week celebration for the Derby and one of the weekends we have what’s called Thunder Over Louisville which is a massive fireworks show but before that we have an air show and when the Stealth Bombers fly over it has such a huge rumbling boom sound you can feel it on the ground and up your body, it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before I think Sallie would love it and you all as well, maybe on your next trip to America you could schedule a visit for Thunder weekend, the closer to Derby the higher the prices on Hotels and Derby week no rooms are available they were all booked a year in advance, but Thunder is 3 weeks before the Derby, there are still thousands of people but most will not stay in town so rooms are available. I think you would love it.

Nimitz class carriers are obsolete in the US Navy...They are being replaced by the Gerald R. Ford class carriers...with 4 Ford class already in service (plus the 11 Nimitz class) The US has 15 active Super Carriers in service. Each has more air superiority capability air craft, than most countries entire flight capability.

Im from the US. In the 80s, it was a big thing about the USSR. not Russia as it is now for nuclear war. In the UK, it might not have been such a big deal, but in the US, it was. Supper scarry. When Burling wall fell, it was a big sighe of relief. No more cold war..

Served with plenty of Brits, Canadians, and Aussies. Make no mistake, we had a family quarrel in the 18th and 19th century, but family fights are always bitter. However, let someone else try and pick a fight and they got to deal with the rest of us.

7:14 Just FYI, they tend to show this picture a lot when talking about America's Navy capabilities. However it's a bit misleading. Because the picture you see is not just American Naval ships. The picture is part of a joint Naval exercise that America and many of its allies, take part in, annually or once every few years. This includes the British Royal Navy and many others. The picture is all of them together. They take part in training exercises, and war games, type stuff.
