Building a MASSIVE SOLAR STANCHION!

We are building a massive solar stanchion which will hold 32 solar panels. Our current solar power system runs our fully off-grid home and by adding on an additional 20 panels we will have even more power to get us through the winter months. The first step to building the solar stanchion is to drill holes down below the frost line and get galvanized steel pip cut to the proper lengths to accommodate for the slope of our land.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.

Really interesting show about the other house to be demolished. Would be good to know if any can be salvaged. Also interesting to see what would be put in its place. Would make an interesting series in itself - the demolition and replacement. Thank you for the show it has been great to watch in lockdown.

@@fawkhamhall8596 Did you watch their other channel and see how poorly constructed that house is? I’m surprised the roof didn’t fall in looking at how those rafters weren’t actually tied into anything. I guess that’s part of the problem with not being required to have inspections.

Love Erin's PHD. That was so funny. Ellie does a really great job counting for her mom. Just keeping Erin honest LOL. I am always amazed at how loving you two are and how no matter what Josh is doing she is always by his side. Erin is an awesome woman, mother, wife and Josh shows that he is proud to have such a beautiful human being for his wife and partner. Such a wonderful family.

I am fortunate that being in the Sign Biz and installing posts, etc. in California, I don't ever have to worry about frost lines. It rarely even freezes where I am. (S.F. Bay Area) It will be Great for you guys to have all this power available.

What about running heat tape under the panels to melt snow away? They come on at 40 degrees. Just an idea. Also when putting wire in ground also put one foot above the wires with waning tape. Less worry that way. Great videos.

I can see that you've got the same weather as we do, here in Lofoten, Norway. Blistering cold and clear skies, as it has been for about two weeks now. We are getting worried that the pipes may freeze, as we have just about no snow at all on the ground. I wish you all a very good week. Dress warm and keep indoors if you can is the recipe for this week, but I know that farming your way is mainly done outdoors and we cannot let the animals to their own destiny, without proper shelter, food and water. Stay safe.
