USING THE SUN TO POWER OUR HOME

3 жыл бұрынToday we are building a steel stanchion to hold 32 solar panels. Our solar power system fully powers our off-grid home and with the addition of these 20 extra panels we will be able to power our home on a cloudy winter day as if it was a sunny summer day. We expect this stanchion build to go more smoothly than the first since we have "been there done that" however, we run into a small snag when we incorrectly measure the hole we dug for the steel pipe last week. We need to correct the issue quickly and move on so we can get the concrete poured before nightfall and the next incoming snowstorm.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.

I agree, and a perfect ending to that episode. My favorite part was Erin holding onto Josh's arm while describing the plan to pour concrete. Love watching you two working together, it makes me smile.

Another great day on the farm. Erin, your camera work, editing and choice of music is awesome. We just discovered Robert Vincent, I think you would like his music. Bet you did get your massage, you earned it. But then, so did he. I can’t explain how I sit and watch these vlogs, totally absorbed, I know nothing about what you are doing but it is so interesting. I prefer your vlogs over tv. Your children are learning such valuable life lessons. Bet Bruce will be happy to be free again. Josh standing and looking out the windows was an awesome shot. Hi Josh and Erin, you two are the greatest. Erin, please look after yourself. Picking up cement bags etc. are not good for your health. While you are young, you don't realize what you are doing to your body but when you are older, you will know about it. Save yourself from it. Your co-operation in all the projects are phenomenal. Those oil tanks can be made into fuel tanks for your diesel and gasoline needs with either an electric or manual pump. You guys are very inspiring and learn allot from you.

I've set boatloads of posts with concrete over the years. Most mixed in a wheelbarrow, some in a mixer, and some poured in dry. Surprisingly, they all work about the same. I now do most dry, as long as there is any moisture around at all, it works.

How can there be any thumbs down for these guys, they are wonderful for sharing the journey they are on. I would have to say that all the the time they spend making and editing the videos is far more that the income they make off you tube. As a contractor watching from the beginning , not to learn anything but just to see if they can do it. The proof is in the pudding. Electrician and wife have pulled of more than most people could ever do. Kudos to them from not giving up.
