Love the leather wrap and jute cord. Works well with the primitive design.

Merry Christmas! *2023* I think that in bushcraft, there’s basic knife skills, and there’s the next step in learning/training, trackers and kukris is a great way to utilize basic skills and apply them to a multi functional “one tool” options like a tracker or kukri. I’m excited, my wife bought me a great kukri to take my bushcraft journey into the next year! I’m looking into trackers once the edge to get another knife, this blade you’re reviewing is absolutely perfect! Thanks for the first look at this beauty! ~Bryan

Bud, I think you are correct. I have nothing against hatchets and saws and axes however I find myself more often than not carrying one larger knife and possibly a smaller one along with that so I prefer to learn as many skills as I can with the equipment I'm most likely to have. Besides getting a chance to expand the skills and learn new techniques is fun and interesting for me.... This stuff is supposed to be fun! Lol

Caleb is such a cool guy. I’ve had one of his Primitive Trackers for a few years, from back when I was active on BCUSA. Like you said, his heat treat is excellent as is his grind lines. You made an excellent leather wrap for the handle. I really like that! Belated Merry Christmas Jim!

That is a nice looking knife. The mods you did have complimented and enhanced to the aesthetics and I think increased the comfort into the bargain. Great job from both the maker and yourself.

I like the modifications you did. It looks like a very functional knife. That being said, I will stay with my Shirley: I am not a fan of thin handles, probably because I ‘m getting old and have to compose with osteoarthritis. Like they say: it’s no fun to get old but we haven’t found any other ways of living longer. 😉 Happy holidays Jim!

Thanks Bob! It's a great blade but the Shirley will continue to be my EDC as well. Kevin really knocked that design out of the park and I don't see me changing from it anytime soon. The Shirley is the most intuitive design that I think I've ever used.

@@bushcraftcostarica808 You’re right, the two curves of the spine are so well designed they lead the user in the best functional positions to use the blade. I am not usually a fan of thumb ramp as I found generally that they are too close to the handle but this first curve actually helped me find the right grip on this handle. That says a lot when an handle and a thumb ramp complete each other. At first, I was thinking that the second curve was not close enough to the tip as I really like to be very close to the tip of the blade for carving, but then I realized that the second curve position my index at the best position to use the front of the blade and not just the tip which is more useful. Out of the park, you said… You bet!

You explain things better than I do Bob. I've been EDC'ing the Shirley for almost a year and a half and there's not another design I can think of that's as capable and user friendly.
