I like to use the flour towels to filter with. They can be washed and resued and I think they work better than the cheese cloth.

I love how you tell us about the little mistakes you've made in the past. My Grandma and my aunt were making rose water and I was there just to watch and they poured the pan of roses blooms and water in the strainer and we all watched as the water went down and them my aunt picked up the strainer and there was a nice empty sink. They looked at each other and then at me and then we all started laughing so hard we had tears running down our faces and my poor Grandma kept saying "I'm going to tinkle my pants". They tried it again about a week later when my Grandma's rose bushes had enough new blooms. It's nice that you tell people that, they didn't have any money invested but if they had I don't think they would have laughed so hard (we still would have laughed just not as hard) my family rolls like that.

I must try this! It reminds me so much of the violet jelly my Mom used to make. I wish I could find organic dried violets now, but will have to wait until spring and use fresh. But, I'm ordering the lavender flowers now, so I can get these on the shelf, at least. So glad I discovered this video, Heather! Thanks!

Looks great. I just made a batch but I didn't put enough pectin and it didn't set up. I made 13 cups with two boxes of pectin. I should have used 3 boxes. Darn it! I think I'll turn it into some blackberry lavender jam when I re-do it.

So excited to watch this! I was going to do lilac jelly, but was too nervous to try jelly without watching someone else... I like the tip on bottled lemon juice. I used a real lemon for my violet syrup and the acidity turned it from violet to red! Your sink is to die for (I love Craigslist!).

Yum! I love lavender and I want to make some and put it in something Chocolate! Like a soft keto chocolate cookie! I do keto so I'll probably sub out the sugar for monk fruit sweetener that is a 1:1 sugar replacement.

I cannot wait to make this as well. While watching you make this, I was thinking of how lovely it would smell ! :) And then, you said it smelled like an English garden in your house. haha ! We seem to think alike, too, because I was thinking what a *wonderful* gift this would make (along with rose petal jam/jelly and honeysuckle jelly as a sweet floral trio !) for Mother's Day or a spring/summer birthday gift for a cherished friend.

Heather, I have very hard water so I always add vinegar to the canner water. Would that effect the jelly if I keep them in the canner before filling?

Two questions. One, instead of the lemon juice could you use something like a citric acid powder for a more neutral flavor? Two, if that last jar has too much space could it still be processed or would that much air cause problems with the seal?

I still sterilize my jars, but if you are processing for 10 mins or longer in a boiling water bath according to ball you don't have to sterilize just clean with hot soapy water. do you store your jars with new lids?

syre! i have to get exact.....i know its a 33" sink....its 8" deep! my old one was 5" . 😄 it is Kohler.. .about $400 retail. not bad for a $50 find! 😄👍
