One of the most impressive ar versions I’ve used is the caracal 816 piston operated ar . A final “perfected “ version of the heavy over gassed hk416 and the sig 516 . They are virtually unattainable now but it is an amazing rifle .

I bought one several years ago after SAS did his first Caracal 816 video. I asked a nearby dealer to order me one and I had the rifle a week or two later. I may try the same thing with the 814. The prices are good imo.

I put the Strike Industries Enhanced bolt catch on all of my AR's, not the Extended. The top and bottom paddle are larger but just by a little bit. It's especially noticeable in a beneficial way for releasing the bolt. It's not an obnoxiously larger release paddle, it's maybe 50 percent larger than the mil spec release paddle. The bolt catch top paddle isn't really all that much larger than mil spec but it has a beveled edge and is thicker which gives you a bit more leverage when pushing with your thumb. It's a nice upgrade but is not a comically large part. The Extended bolt catch is the one that is ridiculously large, probably for competition shooting.

The Jordanian troops that stand guard at the Queen Alia airport carry Caracals with the fixed front sight post. Was pretty interesting to see. And I even saw some MP7's at the checkpoint just outside of the airport.

Thanks to you (and maybe Mrguns&gear) for doing a lot for Caracal marketing. I've gotten 816 and two of the moe 814 (pinned fsb👍) and loved them. Had a question about my order and ended speaking to the president of the USA branch. I vibe I got was that they put a lot of focus in duty products and not too much in marketing. I believe their approach is to let their products speak for themselves. Best kept secret for those looking for quality while not paying "influencers mark up". I explained the whole "over the beach" capabilities to the AR guys I come in contact with. Usually the reply I get is "Where did you get yours?" 😊

@@K1ZXI prefer the 816 cause of the piston driven operation but it does weigh and cost a bit more. Accuracy is about the same 1ish moa but I do have magnified optics and triggertechs in both.

Bought the 814 and 816 (Title I) on recommendation of your first video. The gun store that I ordered from ordered pistols for me at first, lol. Kind of a lesser known Dark Horse here in the Midwest. That will change with time. Dropped Monty's trigger and low power ACOGs on both of them. No complaints, fantastic weapons.

I like Strike Industries products. I have their latchless charging handle on my Colt CR6960. I love their overmolded pistol grip. I was considering buying their trigger rig to practice changing out triggers. Do you like their quality?

Did you notice much difference with recoil impulse between the internal and external piston versions?? Do the chambers in the internal piston rifles have the extractor nub in the barrel extension to prevent catastrophic failures from blowing gas in the wrong direction??

The barrels on the 814 and 816 are the same, just different gas block according to which gas system it used. The 816 will have a slightly increase in recoil due to the external piston operating mechanism.

416 is over gassed, around 1 or 2:00. The Sig and Caracal are around 4 or 5:00

HK felt this was necessary for reliability in adverse conditions so it is told. But it introduced other problems that would later be resolved with the Sig and Caracal rifles

I don't believe so. They partnered up with Wilcox early on. Now, Caracal USA does a lot in house.
