I like the concept of that double nib pen. I also have been thinking about buying the Photon Gluon ink and I think you just encouraged me to go for it. Thank you for taking the time to do these reviews. Have fun at the pen show!

Thanks for this review. I really enjoy seeing what "smaller" companies are doing and the creativity behind the products.

Both pens are beautiful!!! The Carolina Pen Company is making such great designs!! Your choice of name for the two-nib pen is great, David. I also loved the Gluon Colorverse ink. Thank you!

I had a chance to chat with Jonathan at the Chicago Pen Show. Great guy. I look forward to your interview. His blanks are incredible. I have a Franklin Christoph that I found out later was one of his blanks. I'm admittedly not a fan of the dual nib idea but I certainly appreciate that some are. His pens were really top notch, both design and material as well as construction.

Great review! I've been looking into Jonathan Brooks a fair bit recently and this review just makes me want to get one even more than I already wanted to.

Nice pens. I like the innovative approach to the double ended "Maul" pen.

I love his acrylic work. Had no idea he did the blanks for Kanilea Pen Co!
@davyj52165 жыл бұрын
Indeed, though it does make one wonder at the enormous price differential between Kanilea and pretty much any other pen turner when the blanks are so relatively inexpensive.

David iv'e always wanted to own an Urushi lacquered pen but they are premium pens with premium prices.But hopefully i will own one of these Rolls Royce's of the fountain pen world. The two you are reviewing are fine examples of these amazing pens. Thank you as always for another awesome review.

Enjoy the Triangle Pen Show! I had hoped to make it (live ~ 4 hours away) but family obligations needs must put a kibosh on that. I write pretty small and often on cheap paper so I've mostly used F and EF -- and even have one UEF on a Platinum 3776. The UEF probably comes closest to "scratchy". It's not at all bad but F and even EF are certainly smoother.

Do you find the 1.1 harder to write with than a Medium? my only experience with bigger than a Medium is my Visconti Broad Pd, its so wet you can't really use it, so it will get tuned, but it does discourage me from getting more wider nibs

Would it be possible to add a quick statement to your reviews as to the number of turns to uncap each pen? :)
@FigbootonPens6 жыл бұрын
Brian Chu We'll see if I remember. I typically mention it if I feel it is out of the ordinary (short or long), so if there is nothing said, it's usually because I feel it's average.

David are the pen sleeves available separately for retail or do they just come with the pens. Thanks again.
@EsheaB6 жыл бұрын
Wayne Clarkson I am Jonathon's wife Shea. I do sometimes allow Jonathon to sell the sleeves separately. :-) If you see a color or pattern of fabric you like I'd be happy to make a custom sleeve or if you see one in a picture or video just email Jonathon and he will let me know. Thank you for watching and commenting on the video

David, I thought the Triangle pen show was in June. Has the date changed?
@FigbootonPens3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is still in June. This video was from May, 2018.

Does the pen leak during transport since one nib is always facing down?
@FigbootonPens6 жыл бұрын
In the time I had the pen, I did not experience that.

$650 for light coat of urushi seems way overpriced. I have two Nakaya urushi pens. The thick, wet look of the urushi is amazing to say the least. I paid $650 each for my two Nakayas. Also, some cons of the pen like your normal reviews would have been great. Thanks for sharing.

Clipless pens is something I don't get.
@FigbootonPens6 жыл бұрын
I used to feel the same way. But my mind has been changed. There are some pens that look better without a clip.

Yan Doroshenko For me it makes sense since I never have shirt pockets- or things to clip them to period lmao.
