I never would pay $10+ thousand for an apu. You got the right idea. I'd probably splurge for a heavy duty ac that's rated for a rv just for the vibrations over time.

I disconnect from my reefer, when possible. Put landing gear down, pull forward about 2ft. Helps cool my truck better and helps with sleep

I did the same Wednesday when my A/C went out. Running it of truck inverter while rolling down the road the swap to genny at night.

Get you a Igan generator cover for rain and snow. I did realize moving my ac like the way you have it cooled the sleeper down way more, I had mine behind my driver seat and the little part of the vent hose in the back did make it harder to cool down.

Was in AZ yesterday, my truck read 131, actual temp was about 113. Going to be doing the ac/generator soon because Idle is killing me on fuel

Folks I've got. Generator running all great but it did not save me from a engine overhaul.. 15k to get it done next week and hopefully i can get back to grinding

I have the Is same kind of A/C a 9500 what Predator generator from Harbor freight I found that venting the tube out the window was creating too much heat For the AC to keep up with So I cut a hole in my floor in the bunk and then it out that way that way and just cover the hole in the wind And you sunshades it works great And I tell everybody that has a Generator thay need a carbon monoxide detector Just for safety reasons just in case exhaust gets in the cab I did have that problem but fixed now

I've got exhaust pipe funneling those generator fumes down below and away from me or any 9ne else. Also hope u got monoxide alarm in ur bad boy truk

I literally just bought one of those last night. I’m going to hook it up to my gas generator I will run outside the truck. This company I work for has no problem letting you fry to save money on fuel. They have an optimized idle option where sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Finally I got sick of it, bought the generator and now this.

@@dell7054 i bought a black and decker, 8000 btu. For $340.00 on Amazon. The generator is a small 2000 watt champion gasoline generator I bought from tractor supply for $450.00. Well worth the money! Don’t let these companies leave you out here sweating your ass off

You can push in the yellow air break to idle with optimized idle on my truck anyway if your trailer air breaks work well might want to use wheel chocks on slanted parking areas to be safe

@@SamC992 I had a truck shut off once while driving. Had it in first gear just idling down the road during very heavy traffic. After 5 minutes it shut off. I was laughing my ass off. Same mother fuckers that sit in an ac office decided I didn't need ac or heat!?

Apu they break down alot Iwork for Marten Transport and they are kept up and new but I'm not a fan I would go the generator route more dependable dose your ac have heat also

Montgomery Marathon Diesel $ 5.39 a gallon Reg 5.76 gallon premium 6.69 gallon Illinois RT 25 at Boulder hill pass about 200 feet south of the marathon there is a 12’11” viaduct you can not go south to Oswego Illinois you have to go back north to downtown Montgomery or downtown Aurora Illinois you can not go into the Boulder hill subdivision on Boulder hill pass heavy trucks are not permitted Any how this marathon is considered Montgomery Illinois when hours are slow from midnight to 5 am you can probably get in here with a 53’ van I don’t know the height of their canopy but I have seen semis in here dump trucks and land scrapers come in here all the time I would suggest just coming with the bobtail the dump guys show up all at the same time & you have chaos the owner don’t like it but !!! This place is on the east side of the Fox River well any way it is an option but you have to plan ahead food for thought keep er in mind when your working this area and you need fuel

I have a 12000 btu with 3500 watt generator. And it's cold inside when outside in Arizona is over 100 outside. And the last time I Crack the window my portable unit suck the dust 🤧 from outside so watch out where you park.

Get a duel hose ac much better. It doesn't draw in outside air.

Those residential ac units compressors just aren’t built for mobile applications. The liquid coolant inside gets shaken up into a gas. Takes a hour or so after the ac (compressor) stops moving for the gases to settle back into a liquid

I agree. I really don't run in areas that are super hot. But if you check out Driving by Braille's channel he has a similar setup and he runs to Phoenix a lot.

Get the ac with dual hoses coming out the back. They are 10x more efficient.

I'm assuming that second hose is for return air? I use the cool air in the sleeper for the return. Way more efficient than pulling hot air from outside. The way I do it it's like having the recirculator on on your car AC. No need to pull hot air from outside.

@@CashisKingtrucking you basically have the front and back half of a window unit inside the truck. The front side pulling inside air through is like a car ac on recirculate. But the back half of the system is exhausting through the window. Some have 2 window hoses for the backside of the system. I had a single hose portable like this in my truck and is just made a vacuum and pulled hot air in from outside. Maybe your curtains are separating it enough to work right. Mine was terrible.

A lot. I usually don't do 34s on the road but gets me through a 10 no problem. It takes about 1.5 gallon for a 10hr break

Generator holds 1.25 gallons and runs about 14 hours on average tank.

My buddy bought one of those about 2 weeks ago. He's not impressed. He's buying 40 lb of ice a day and only staying cool for about 4 or 5 hours. I hope you have better luck.

Got an APU that came with my Freightliner literally have got that thing fixed 4 times AC keeps going out only the heater and fan part work only thing it's good for is jumping off the truck and a heater smh going to Lowes buying a generator and portable ac I'd rather spend 1k on that than 1k at Thermo King to get a temporary fix that last 2 months

There is no sweating and messing around with the generator. Watch my video on how I set it up. I literally run a drop cord from the passenger side door to the back catwalk. It takes one or two pulls on the generator to start it and I'm done.
