He means type 2 diabetics you moron, laughing at a joke you dont even understand. Good one 😂😂 Your wife wouldn't require much insulin at all if she didnt eat carbs and sugar. That's a simple biological fact for you, the carbs necessitate the taking of the insulin so the sugar doesnt poison her. You're a smart pair though, you knew that already right? Strange thing is, I bet she never in her life tried a diet without the carbs involved to see what it was like yet feels so confident shes doing the right thing. Is she healthy and of normal weight?
@thepocketboy
@thepocketboy 3 жыл бұрын
@@dogwklr yes I'm aware of the difference between type 1 and 2. Yes I know he was referring to type 2. Yes my wife is very in control of her diabetes with a healthy a1c. She hits her macros is very athletic and active in the gym lifting and running. I'm very proud of her. She has done low carb diets as well as a balanced flexible dieting. You have made a lot of assumptions in your comment that really just make you look ignorant and rude. We are both educated. I have taken biochem and thoroughly understand many of the metabolic pathways that are regulated by insulin. We both laughed because we both understand how you get diabetes of either type and the implications made in the critiqued video are wrong. Sugar itself does not give you diabetes. Carbs are not an enemy even for a type 1 diabetic like my wife. Explain to me why you are so quick to be a presumptuous bully please.
@dogwklr
@dogwklr 3 жыл бұрын
@@thepocketboy nobody with a brain says/means that sugar somehow "infects" you with diabetes. You need very little of it in your daily life so saying that it isnt an issue in a real sense (and not shitty research context) is flatly incorrect and propagating that myth is of no use to anyone. In the world today, very few people eat just sugar on it's own if that's what you're implying. It is combined in foods with other ingredients that make it very hard to be satiated, that much is clear and youd know that from your studies. Carbs are not needed for your wife or very minimal amounts, I'm not presuming that not does it matter if she has tried every diet under the sun, still isnt logical for her to consume something that would threaten her life if there wasnt artificial insulin at hand. How you think you're making sense when you talk about it that way baffles me tbh. What would she do if there was no daily supply? She would have to stop consuming them eh? Zero carb would keep her healthy all on it's own no matter what lame says. How is it that you "get" type 1 diabetes? I'm interested how you've come up with that one
@thepocketboy
@thepocketboy 3 жыл бұрын
@@dogwklr type 1 is an autoimmune disease. There are various ways it can be triggered and it's not fully understood as to the many ways it can be triggered. It's multifactorial and many genes influence it, but one "gets" it when their immune system essentially makes a mistake. She is healthy now eating whatever she wishes. She makes good choices. Sugar is not bad for her. Eating sugar/carbs and not giving insulin is what's bad. And obviously if there were no insulin available she would eventually die even minimizing carbs and calories and using exercise. It was done before the discovery of using exogenous insulin. It did not extend diabetics lives by very long unfortunately. It just can't be done as youre suggesting without insulin. That does work for type 2 diabetics though. There are no bad foods there are only bad portion sizes. And it turns out the body is quite capable of adapting and making due with what it's given. Eating sugar (added to food or straight up pouring the granules directly into your mouth) in moderation does not have any significant negative health outcomes in healthy people. That said, minimizing carbs and sugar isn't necessarily bad either. If that is the type of diet you like and is sustainable for your then I wish you all the best with it. You will be just fine doing so. As far as the food industry, yes they are very good at making it hard to control portion sizes.. But that is when an individual needs to take responsability. It's excessive body fat and lifestyle that is the underlying problem not the eating of sugar. The studies are showing diets with high or low carbs has the same outcomes when calories and protein are equated despite the increased insulin levels for the higher carb group. It seems we will just have to agree to disagree. I hope you love a long healthy life with whatever diet you choose to follow. Best to you and yours.
@dogwklr
@dogwklr 3 жыл бұрын
@@thepocketboy no. We wont agree to disagree, that doesnt exist in science or life in most situations. Something is correct or it is wrong and the reasons stand whether we like them or not. Type 1 is a genetic issue for the most part and starts at a young age, type 2 us also autoimmune once it takes hold, ypure talking nonsense at this point. It's so you can keep sticking to your point and use the apparently exceptional case of your wife to apply to all people. You are saying that she basically must have carbs and would die to keep them in her diet 😂😂what utter tripe. All foods and calories are not equal, enough of that lies please. Watch bart kay analyse lames ranting know the cico topic. Its embarrassing for your balloon animal hero who thinks a can of monster is the same as a steak, they both have calories so are just as useful to you 😂 Ypur wife could live with zero carbs, eat fat and update your knowledge. I wish some people would finally understand what confounding factors are, and that splitting hairs in two about single macro and micro nutrients is pretty pointless when detached from the total energy balance. Actually the most typical foods to do this are processed meats with high amount of fat in sedentary people. Like hot dogs, burgers etc. Not only is the fat easiest to store as fat (duh), but the salt also increases your desire to eat so you eat more. Of course the same could happen with pastry for example, but again, that is a combo of fat and carbs. For example chocolate, regarded as a "carb" food, contains more fat energy than carb energy. (fat is 9 calories per unit and carbs are 4)

The first thing you want to do is get rid of cereal and white bread if you have a thyroid problem. You want to eat food with actual nourishment. Eat plenty of carbs just eat ones with actual substance. Make sure you are getting selenium and your b-vitamins. If you have a caffeine problem you might want to have a look at that too. Our muscle cells become resistant to the effect of insulin. What’s gumming up the locks on our muscle cells? What’s preventing insulin from letting glucose in? Tiny droplets of fat inside our muscle cells, so-called intramyocellular lipid. Fat in the bloodstream can build up inside the muscle cells, creating toxic fatty breakdown products and free radicals that block the insulin signaling process. No matter how much insulin we have in our blood, it’s not able to sufficiently open the glucose gates, and blood sugar levels build up in the blood. And this can happen within three hours. One hit of fat can start causing insulin resistance, inhibiting blood sugar uptake after just 160 minute This mechanism by which fat induces insulin resistance wasn’t known until fancy MRI techniques were developed to see what was happening inside people’s muscles as fat was infused into their bloodstream. That’s how we found that elevation of fat levels in the blood causes insulin resistance by inhibition of glucose transport into the muscles. We can also do the opposite experiment. Lower the level of fat in people’s blood and the insulin resistance comes right down. If we clear the fat out of the blood, we also clear the sugar out. That explains the finding that on the high fat, ketogenic diet, insulin doesn’t work very well. Our bodies become insulin resistant. But as the amount of fat in our diet gets lower and lower, insulin works better and better-a clear demonstration that the sugar tolerance of even healthy individuals can be impaired by administering a low-carb, high-fat diet. We can decrease insulin resistance, however, by decreasing fat intake." Is that true?

@@boneTHUGS111 Layne's a real scientist. I see no problem with asking science based questions. Sadly a lot of people watch this Friday program for the rant only and could care less about the science.(Stick it to the Man!) There is indeed studies that suggest that fat and high glycemic carbs in combination have an acute insulin resistant effect. I'm interested in Layne's response.

Hey Layne, They are speaking to the masses not the friggin gym rats. Have you been to a mall, a diner or an amusement park? The masses eat terrible and need tough love. They need to stop opening their mouth and putting sugary shit in it.
