Great information 👍 my UK spec 2.1 is having the same issues. Went into limp mode on a long journey, thought I'd fixed it as I found the battery terminals loose. After another long journey same issue. I can get vacuum but it won't hold it it slowly leeks off, if I clamp the pipe from the vac reservoir to the boost control valve under the egr cooler it holds vacuum 🤔

Thanks for uploading the video very helpful. I wanted to clarify something at 4:15 you show the transducer that you replaced to fix the low pressure codes but then you mentioned boost pressure too high code came back. What was the fix high pressure codes? Are those two different transducers at 4:15 and 4:40
@drsoot97606 жыл бұрын
jacobb dir The hose that has the vent in it was the one I was losing my vacuum from, so in turn I plugged to test it and with it being plugged off it actually created to much vacuum causing the high boost pressure codes. Very odd I know but to much vacuum problems, to little vacuum problems. Hope this helps

The dealer said I have leak on my 2015 2.1L no water showing so he must be talking about the vacuum. do you a video showing how to take the fan off?

Hi, I have a 2014 e250 blutec with what I believe the same motor. Car was running fine but mechanic found the water pump was leaking. Car has about 120k on it so I had it changed. Since then I had the p261f code show up but drove for about a week. I was driving and got a turbo code p0299 and p00c4. The brakes also went out and the red brake sign illuminated on the dash. Towed to dealer and they said I needed a new vacuum pump. They replaced that and upon pick up no codes but car felt sluggish at low rpm. Slowly after all the turbo codes returned and I still had the p261f also. Car feels like it pics up at higher rpm. But initial take off it falls on its face. Any ideas?

Are you saying I need a new transducer? I feel the water pump is ok. No problems from that (that i know of).
@drsoot97604 жыл бұрын
Mastersharpener Do you have any engine codes other than boost pressure to low? If not then yes you need to replace the transducer under the EGR cooler. DO NOT take the bottom bolt.
@Mastersharpener4 жыл бұрын
@@drsoot9760 yes, I do have some other codes. Do I just loosen the bottom one? some of the other codes are reductant pump open, and reductant level sensor curcuit.

Yes just loosen the bottom bolt. Also mark your lines so as not to mix them up. Check the lines as well while you have them off for coolant, if the pump is leaking into the vacuum system it will leave dried crystals similar to when DEF fluid drys out.
@Mastersharpener4 жыл бұрын
@@drsoot9760 awesome. I'm so glad for that tip. That bottom bolt is a bugger! I was able to get the part out with only loosening the bolt. So, after getting a new part I should be able to draw a vacuum without blocking off the Little filter, right?

adam vet Is the low fuel pressure code still happening as well as the low boost pressure code? If the low fuel pressure is still there don’t put a fuel pump in it. If you can you need to test the vacuum system.

((I cleaned the air tank byetheway.. after I done that cleaning No more oils )) air tank which is connecting turbo/vacuum pump Thanks in advance mate
@drsoot97604 жыл бұрын
adam vet Glad you found that! That’s a very sensitive system. As far as the oil, no sir that’s not normal. I’m guessing your referring to the little black box next to the air filter had oil on it or the round tank that sits in the fender well? Regardless of which one has oil on it, it shouldn’t be there. In some cases I’ve seen the vacuum pump starting fail to cause that, but I’ve also seen where the check valve has gone bad causing oil in the system. The check valve is white/cream color and located at the brake booster. I would replace that first before throwing a vacuum pump at it. Hope this helps!
@adamvet96094 жыл бұрын
@@drsoot9760 I checked the reservoir (the little box next to fuel filter ) with air pressure gage , it doesn't hold the pressure after few second it will ease away .. do you think the problem could be from the solenoid ( same like the one that you have shown in video ) ..the water pump doesn't have any leaks and am not loosing coolant either !!
@drsoot97604 жыл бұрын
adam vet Yes if it’s not holding pressure there “normally” it’s almost always the transducer down underneath the EGR cooler. Typically if it gets any trash in the system it will cause that valve not to work correctly. Don’t exceed 14 psi or 30hg of vacuum on that system or you will blow er apart.
@doughoffman68485 жыл бұрын
Great video. Its amazing how far a little help/knowledge gos, I really appreciate the information!! I'm working to solve P261F, coolant changeover valve blocked. I pulled the changeover valve and it looks like there is coolant residue in the line. What do you think about pulling the line between the changeover valve and water pump and plugging the nipple on the changeover valve until I have time to replace the water pump? I did that and am still getting the P261F code. Do you know if air has to flow back into the pump to allow the changeover valve to let go?
@drsoot97605 жыл бұрын
Doug Hoffman Unfortunately you will still get that code mostly because there’s a little bit of coolant in the valve. The only time that valve is used is for cold start ups. It pulls vacuum to close the shield around the impeller to cut off circulation to help warm the engine quicker. I have been half tempted to try blocking that line and see if the code still pops up.
@doughoffman68485 жыл бұрын
@@drsoot9760 That's exactly what i tried. I replaced the changeover valve and capped/plugged the port that would go to the water pump. The code returned. I wonder if the valve needs have backflow to allow the valve to unseat. Perhaps I'll try a length of hose to give it an air volume to back flow.
@drsoot97605 жыл бұрын
Doug Hoffman If you can stand the CEL being on, you can let it run as is. It shouldn’t effect performance at all. Although seeing an engine light on bugs me.

@@drsoot9760 This trip the van fell on its face, no boost. No error codes. It was unnoticeable till a hill. Roughly how many key cycles have you had sense the loss of power? I get back to my book I can tell you exactly which transducer controls the waste gate and which one controls the boost actuator. Does the water pump act as the vacuum pump or does it just consume all the vacuum and cause the low boost code
@drsoot97606 ай бұрын
Vacuum is what works the water pump. It moves a ring around the impeller to change the flow rate of coolant to warm the engine quicker. It’s only activated during cold start up. But the issue is if the seal fails it allows vacuum to escape. The vacuum pump itself is located at the rear of the engine on the left side. Gear driven

ferris mower superstore Either or. The hp to me isn’t all that much different. Production on the 2.1l ended in the US in 2017 due to not meeting emission standards. Each one had its own issues, 3.0s eat turbos, kind of sensitive on the emissions. 2.1s vacuum problems not that expensive, broken exhaust pipes. Looking at 11k for engine replacement on the 3.0 and about 6500 on the 2.1L. From my experience it does seem like the 3.0 engine lives longer but the tranny in 2.1 lives longer. This also based on my line of work, working on fleets that get abused to the max everyday. At the end of the day I’m still a fan of Benz.

EDIS Osmanovic The components in the vacuum system should hold roughly 14 psi. That being said if you are testing each separate they should hold 14 psi.
