Great explanation. You have an excellent teaching style. I am looking forward to doing this in my next tournament in Sydney Australia. I think I will make this my standard reply when I am black to pawn to e4. Well done!

Thank you for the lesson. I'm a little puzzled about one thing: If 6) Nxd2, do I still play Qe7 to prepare Q side castling on my next move?

1:54 what if Qa4+? then Nc6 and d5, forking 2 pieces.
@crazycrabchess2422
@crazycrabchess2422 5 жыл бұрын
Yes!! I love when this happens.... check it out... so he plays 7. Qa4+ then ..Nc6! Yes he will 99% of the time respond with 8. d5 forking 2 pieces as you said. You respond with 8...Qf6! which threatens mate.. so he can't take one of the pieces yet; he has to respond to the mate. So, he may play 9. Nf3. Now you can capture the knight on c3 with 9... Nxc3 and he STILL can't capture one of those pieces because that knight you just captured his knight with is also attacking his queen! Soo, he plays 10. bxc3 and you respond with 11... Qxc3+ winning the rook and giving you a deadly attack. Here is the line again and a few extra moves that could happen 7. Qa4+ Nc6 8. d5 Qf6 9. Nf3 Nxc3 10. bxc3 Qxc3+ 11. Bd2 (not too many good choices here are there..) Qxa1 12. Ke2 O-O-O 13. dxe6 (He finally tries to capture one of those forked pieces...) Rxd2+!!! 14. Nxd2 Nd4+ 15. Ke3 Qc3+ and he is in a mating net. 16. Bd3 Qxd2+ 17. Kxd4 Qf4+ 18.Kd5 c6+ 19.Qxc6+ bxc6+ 20.Kxc6 Qe5 21.exf7 Qc5# (if 18.Be4 then 18...Qxf2+ 19.Ke5 Qf6+ 20.Kd5 fxe6#) I LOVE THESE LINES!! White puts that check in, you block with the knight, then he moves that pawn forward thinking he's got you beat... and BAM.. play Qf6 and laugh.

nice video. Like u I expect the best move. At 3:00 min, knight should take the free king pawn. Queen can't take bishop, rook will fall. If queen checks, knight goes back, same position with a free pawn. I don't expect bad moves. At 6:30, I check with the knight and get a free rook. I see the queen check but prefer to leave it near my king which has not castled yet. What do you think. Wonderful review at the end, thanks!!!

If you capture the f2 pawn, queen just grabs the developed bishop on f5. If you grab the rook in the corner, the knight is trapped so you have a rook for two pieces (not good) since it was an undeveloped rook. At 6:30, again it's not about material or the rook in the corner, if you check, then he'll move the king, grab the rook, dxe6 and black must be careful. The black knight in the corner is misplaced

@@front331 Thx for the reply! But, black wins a rook AND a pawn for a bishop. The knight is NOT trapped as Q to h5 frees it, with a check! White is down an exchange and has a totally unprotected king. Black can castle either side to protect HIS king. Big adv black. At 6:30, again, white loses the exchange, loses castling rts and has an unprotected king on d2, the only safe square. Black can castle to safety. Big adv black! Thx for the info.

*Beware:* 5.Nf3 is much better for white than 5.d4?! These Icelandic gambit videos always feature the move 5.d4?! because it leads to black's magnificent attacks.
@front331
@front331 5 жыл бұрын
rizka you're right because if black tries 5...Bb4 to pin then white can play 6. a3 and black must do something about the bishop whereas in the line shown here because of 5. d4, black can gang up on c3 if white does block with the knight. For some reason most KZfaq videos if not all are focused on 5. d4.
