There are a lot of subjects you can do which aren't political though. I guess they could get mad at people for opening Pokemon booster packs on Disney+ instead of Lorcana, since they don't own Pokemon, but I dunno if they'd go that far.

And it’s not just “angry middle aged nerds in ball caps with action figures in the background” that’s driving KZfaq. There is a breadth and depth of content no one person can go through in their lifetime. How to videos, esotericism, mystery, uploads of old commercials, radio shows, local bands playing live, sports talk, the list is endless. There’s no way anyone, let alone Disney, can compete with that. At best, Disney will flood their service with Pixie Duster Influencers saying how the company is awesome and everything is fine with nary a dissenting voice in the comment sections.

I feel something like this could work as a way to monetize fan-made content, and allow fans to monetize those projects in-turn. Case and point, Axanar. Paramount would have been better served by providing them with a way to stream the final product on Paramount+, rather than slapping them with legal restrictions. It builds goodwill with the community, and encourages more creatives to make fan-content for the property you own. Disney, of course, will find a way to screw it up, though.

Well in the show Bizaardvark, they had a KZfaq like service, called Vuuuugle. They had actual KZfaqrs on it like Roe, a woman who bakes or tests out kitchen gadgets, among others. The funny thing is that there are also Disney Channel stars who later became KZfaqrs, like Christy Carlson Rmano.

This is hilarious. Disney cannot make good content so now they want to show content made by others. Can you imagine the restrictions and guidelines they would have? Not to mention them owning your content. No freaking way will I subscribe to Disney. A major purge and several years of them regaining my trust is the only way I will go back.

I’m thinking if this comes to pass, they will charge a monthly fee for content creators, but in turn allow them to make fan films of their IP’s. This would allow fans to make content they desire to see, and would also act as a soundboard for Disney to then potentially option fan ideas into larger productions without the worry of box office failure. They’ll already have the data from shares and likes, and they’ll also own whatever fans post. Maybe Im thinking too deep on this one…

I can't see Disney letting people use there IP's for fan films. They would be afraid of that doing better then their own stuff or go against the company line. If they did there would be language in the contract that says Disney could take any fan film not post it and remake it as there own without credit or payment to the actual creator. But really what Disney is thinking is "KZfaq makes money so we should do that" Disney can no longer invent things because they no longer have creators and dreamers working for them they have activists and un-creative people that where taught how to create in a classroom.

I don't see how they can compete with KZfaq. KZfaq is "The" place for user created content. if they try something like kid friendly content then they will soon find that it is a cesspool that nobody wants to moderate. I am not sure what else they could do to create a carve out for themselves that KZfaq does not already do. Maybe they could lure some KZfaq creators to do some special content for them, they really should stay pretty curated. I think Disney+ missed their calling by alienating a large number of parents. They could have been a great platform for a child safe platform with carefully curated content.

It will just be the pixie dusting cupcake crowd if it ever gets off the ground. Disney wouldn't spend the money on staff to review the material because you can bet they'd want to vet any content before it goes on. The cupcake crowd wouldn't get their content up in a timely manner but maybe they'd use it to big note themselves as being associated with Disney.

I would much prefer that Disney+ put more DVD-style featurettes and behind the scenes footage with all of their movies. Include more documentaries about how they made the parks and other different Disney projects. Show us all of Walt Disney's television presentations where he would talk into the camera and tell us all of the cool ideas he had. And sure, collaborate with various Disney-tubers about stuff they'd like to see. A lot of the stuff they upload with their newer content, trailers, bloopers, commentary, featuretters, etc is actually plenty dlcascinating, so why not do the same for all of the old stuff? It would actually add a LOT of value to the service because you dont really get it anywhere else but MAX and sometimes Netflix. You already have hundreds of hours of content not yet uploaded. If you upload it and promote it, people WILL come! Also, if you cut the price for Disney+ in half, your subscriber count will triple.

It asks too many questions about the viability and wisdom of such an idea for Disney to allow it publicity on their service. So, NO, would not be subscribing to watch it there!

If Disney wanted to make at least a bit of money with streaming, they'd make a KZfaq-style freely accessible portal that doesn't require logging into an account, put all their old shows and movies on it and finance it by showing ads. But that system couldn't be abused for monthly recurring payments, upcharging the customers or indoctrinating the audience, so it won't happen. 🙃

Of course KZfaq is a streaming service, I can name at least 1 streaming radio station. There are also indie studios creating content on here like Dust. There are movies & tv shows on here also, even Bluey.

It just dawned on me. Does Disney want to do to the entertainment industry what Tyson has done to chicken and pork production in the USA. Own and control every step of the process from creation to consumer. Force out (oops, buy out) the independent small farms. They are the only market, make all the rules, own the equipment, transportation , contract with the farmers who assume all the risks and get paid measly pennies while pork & chicken prices soar.
