When I was a teenager, watching the super bowl with my conservative family, this commercial came on. I was in awe, but my family started loudly complaining about how offensive and unamerican it was. I was baffled. What is unamerican about singing about your love of country in the tounge your mother taught you? To me, it's beautiful; both then and now.

@prestonjones16533 жыл бұрын
Not likely. Most of these languahes have a completely different writing system from one another, the Spanish, Arabic, and Punjabi for example, and Arabic isn't even written in the same direction as Spanish. So the closed captions would have to be swapping through different systems over and over again, and getting decent subtitles when everything is in one language is difficult enough.

I immigrated to America 55 years ago, and the country has really changed. Immigrants used to fiercely WANT to assimilate, to become part of this great country, because why else would they make the effort to come here? Now, immigrants come here to carve out a little corner of the country for themselves that resembles the country they came from. Multiculteralism actually divides us rather than unites. It's one thing to invite people to learn about your culture, but quite another to force your culture down the throats of people who may not be interested. We are no longer a melting pot, because nothing is melting. We a just a collection of disjointed cultures. This commercial would be 100x better if the whole thing was sung in english.

That would have erased the purpose. America has always been a county of immigrants. We dont have a national language. People are free to speak whatever language they wish. The way this was done was perfect
@ThatDudeJCrash3 жыл бұрын
@@novatala2070 It wasn't. There's no official language but there might as well be. When you come into this country and really want to be a part of it. English is the main language.
