There is a famous fairy tale called Hansel and Gretel where the brother and sister are taken far into the woods by their parents and abandoned. Secretly, they drop bread crumbs along the way so they can retrace their steps and find their way back home. In this video I will demonstrate how leaving small whites in a watercolor can guide the viewer's eye "home," or to what is the center of interest.

Thank you Rowena! Just start by practicing triad washes that aren’t meant for a painting, until they become familiar, and then when you get one you really like, continue a simple subject on top of it. But remember, my style is my style and if it isn’t comfortable to you, it’s definitely not the only approach to watercolor. You may find you love a completely different direction. That’s what makes us all so unique as artists!

@@laurelhart2183 I'm honoured by your kind comment, Laurel. For an artist this country is really inspirational. Plenty of old towns and villages with the original architecture of past centuries, specially Middle Age. Very picturesque combination of elements like bridges, canals, old houses, gardens, boats and wind mills of course. On a sunny day the sun can shine very bright and the light has something special. Netherlands is worth visiting, A few hours drive to different cities in Belgium, France or Germany. Thanks and best wishes!!
