Watching you Laurel, after doing so several years ago when I was just feeling my way in watercolor. I'm now at the point where I know what I like and want to do but am having trouble getting started. You paint the way I just love and I'm newly inspired by you and your work. I think I can get there using your tutorials now as my reference and I'm fired up and ready to go! PS We lived in Brazil for a while and love the Brazilian people as you clearly do. Bahia is a magical wonderful place and your gentle love for it and its people shows. Parabens!

Thanks for the valuable recommendation, your precious advice and the good demonstration. My teacher (montly cours) also recommended me buying artist good brushes, small one as number N. 3, 6, 8 and large ones as N. 10, 12, or 16.

Laurel Hart - you amazing artist and person !! Love seeing your son working with you - just love it. You - as you know - got me started in watercolor!! I think it was 5 or 6 years ago - and I paint daily to this day. I also branched into collage, oils, the whole mixed media thing. I'm glad to know I can reach out it I need advice about getting my art work printed. I'm in Durham now taking care of my mother - but I paint daily - and still knit for so many elderly (and some no so elderly) with dementia. I'm doing really well and you helped me thru a really sad time in my life - simply by being yourself. Your art is always stunning - your teaching the best online watercolor tutorials - but what makes you so successful - is YOU being YOU. Thrilled to see these videos of your "behind the scenes" activities. Still have your book, still use it often, and am blessed to know you. And, finally - still have the lovely painting you shared with me. I adore you!! What a gift you are to this world!!

Not this one. I usually do go back and make some final adjustments before we post the thumbnail and final painting. Those changes don’t make it on the video.

Thank for all those wonderful videos yo’ve put out over the years! I was very excited when I first saw your Bahiana paintings as I had lived in Salvador for many years and taught at the Escola Panamericana there. I have your book and watched most of your videos. I have learned so much from you and continue to do so. Thank you!

Thank you so much! That’s wonderful that you lived in Salvador! It’s such a unique place with an interesting and sad history. I learned to love the people and respect how resilient they are! I love painting the women!

I enjoyed this behind-the-scenes look at the technical aspects of your videos. They are some of the best watercolor videos available for free on You Tube. I also like how you plan each video around one concept. You begin by explaining what you are going to demonstrate, then you do the demonstration, and last you give a summary of what you wanted the viewer to learn. I am a retired high school teacher, and I recognize your approach in what I know about presenting a lesson in a classroom setting.

It is so impressive how much effort you put into the photography process and it is worth it. But more than this I adore your painting style, often using only three primaries, mixing on the paper, letting the paint flow and focusing on the lights and shadows. After all these years you are still the most advanced youtube watercolorist, I found. I improved too in those years but I love your style and do still not dare to copy it. But I learned a lot of color theory in your videos. I don't want to miss any of your videos, no matter how long they are. It's a Laurel evening then.

Hi Laurel - can you share with me your paintbox type choice? I really like the shape, size and flatness of it. I've not had much success with egg shape paint holder as i've found the paint runs downs and muddies up. Also i'd love to know what type of paint and brushes you use. I really need a refresh on my materials. thank you and great connection to musical notes. i think like this and much love the base notes of color especially if saturated.

Every new year I make a list of the artists I’ve studied and learned from (shamelessly copied) and each year at the top of my list is “Laurel, of course”. So grateful to see your new lessons. Each time I re-do your lessons I learn new things. I’m re-reading your book for the third time. Thank you, my teacher 🎈🤗
