There are bisexuals, who can ‘chose’ to ignore their gay feelings and try daily to be heterosexual. But these facts don’t enter their mindsets, they think cure one, all can be cured. I for one firmly believe that the process of ‘conversion therapy’ does infinitely more harm than good. If ANYTHING should ever happen or be allowed, it should occur in a 5-10 minute supervised conversation, it should be supportive, and life affirming. Before you tear me apart, what I am speaking of is a simple "There are some people with sexual feelings for both sexes, and some of those can chose to focus on one, but that might not be for you. Denying your feelings can create more problems for you, so we only as that you consider our words and apply them if you wish." The rest of the conversation should be the importance of accepting yourself, as you are, and knowing that God loves you, and created you, exactly as you are. Then following the 10 minute conversation the parents should spend many, many hours in counseling to learn how God and they can accept their child exactly as he or she is.
