Ай бұрын

Join Wranglerstar today as we make significant strides in our journey towards self-sufficiency on our cozy log home project. In this pivotal episode, we proudly erect a robust timber framed power base, preparing the foundation for our new 400 amp power service. This milestone is not just about power; we're also thrilled to announce the arrival of sparkling glacial water to our land-a monumental achievement for any homestead.
Getting water to bare land is an impressive feat, and we're excited to take you through every step of this process. Watch as Wranglerstar's trusty assistant lends his strength to the heavy lifting, digging, and setting of pressure-treated 6x6 timbers into concrete. These foundational tasks are essential as we gear up for even more advancements.
Stay tuned for our next episode, where we'll be installing a frost-free water hydrant, an essential addition for year-round water access. Subscribe and hit the bell icon to not miss out on our continued progress towards building a fully independent and sustainable home.

I believe a bit more content showing the work is the best thing for us, like only the work and some explanation about what you're doing. Like explaining where that water comes from and what's the point of that structure. I'm from Brazil and things here are very different so some context is always welcome

@raymondroberts1905 they may have done that as well as the job progressed after I was gone, but nobody is going to be able to dig through that red concrete fast enough to not see the color. It had to have been over 2 feet thick. It was also in a parking lot so they would have to get through asphalt and another 3 or 4 feet of dirt.

coming from a mason that is used to mixing I really think the dry sack method is best. less shrinkage and if you rod the mix in place after adding water once the pole is set you'll get rock solid stability that you don't get with mixing and pouring. it's a bit easier as a bonus!

I agree with most of his comments, however, his delivery is somewhat abrasive. Not that I inherently mind the abrasiveness, but it does have a tendency to building an echo chamber and repels folks that feel dumb or excluded from such comments to wholly ignore the prudent content. Just my two cents - worth about as much perhaps - I would think we’d want to build our support and convert hearts and minds.

@@wranglerstar it’s just hard to take your advice and encouragement to “tighten our belts” seriously when things seem to be going pretty well for you (nice house, nice car, lots of cool toys, etc.). And that’s great! Many of us aspire to achieve your level of success. But if your advice is, “you have no chance to get to where I am. Best you can do is a small cabin that you build yourself,” then just be honest. I’d like to think I can still get to where I need to be in spite of all the challenges we face. At least I thought that was your message all along.
@frank_jk
@frank_jk Ай бұрын
@@CoucilmanMilne32deg I don’t have issues with success. I have issues with someone who succeeded telling me “we’re all gonna have to downsize.” We all know the Wranglerstar family is not about to sell their house and move into a small cabin. It’s uncharacteristically insincere and disappointing.

Nicely done, trying one’s best is always the best policy for self respect and for the respect of others. I agree with Cody about meters, monitoring and the powers that be, they will squeeze you until the pips squeak. I’m sure there was a time when governments effectively mandated big business for the benefit of the populous, but those day are long gone, now politicians seem to mandate to get jobs on the boards of big business and a spot of the speaking circuits. A terrible reflection of a self interested and greedy system that ultimately bad for everyone and everything.
