Cutting Chipboard with the Cricut Maker is no easy feat, I will vouch for this now! So I made ya'll a Cutting Chipboard with the Cricut Maker - How To video! When I got my Cricut Maker one of the really exciting things I wanted to do was make those cute wreaths or door hangers for my kiddos and home! Little did I know it would be this much of a hassle!
Be warned my fellow Cricut crafter friends, cutting chipboard with the knife blade (what I used) on the "damask chipboard" setting takes several hours if you want a fancy cut! Even the less fancy cuts require a minimum of TWELVE passes. You will notice a few things, I changed images because the first cut failed after 15 hours! The time of day is also different, since ya know 15 hours.
Regardless of the hassle and whoopsy I love the way these turned out in the end! In my opinion, worth it!
MAJOR LESSONS HERE:
1. Set aside at least two hours for these cuts
2. Do not do something as ridiculous as jagged diamond borders for these
3. As always have fun and laugh about it!

Thanks for sharing a non-cricut chipboard. For a project I thought I was going to do, I bought natural medium weight chipboard from Amazon before the cricut maker was available. I finally decided to use it a couple days ago. I used the heavy weight setting and it said 24 passes, however it cut in completely in 8. I'm not cutting letters yet, but shapes with lots of curves.

Yes! It says sooo many passes but it doesn’t need it!

Hi, Did you have to cut the Grafix chipboard (12"x12") down to 11"x11" to clear rollers to allow feeding into Maker?

Hi! I did not, you just move the rollers all the way over and the edges catch a little bit I didn’t need them so I left it. You can cut it down if you want but it’s not necessary.

I’m not having any luck cutting the 2 mm chipboard It keeps getting stuck on the first or second pass Any clue what’s wrong

Are you using the knife blade? Also, sometime if its getting stuck that means there is a knot in the wood. If there are no knots, you are using the knife blade I would try a different piece first then if that doesnt work do a knife blade calibration. If that doesn't work I would contact Cricut and have them troubleshoot it further.

Hi, no you do not need a printer for this project just a Cricut :)

I am trying to cut an uploaded image but the software always sends me to a page that says "send to printer" or "already printed" I do not want to do either, I want to cut the image I imported...any solutions or do I just need to cut based on a printed design? Thanks

That means you have an image that is a “print then cut” image. If you want to cut it then you want to select “no fill” and “cut” in the settings at the top tool bar. Let me know if you still need help.

@@CraftingUnedited Thank you so much for the quick response. I uploaded the image to the software and then uploaded from the software to the canvas and it seemed to help. I think maybe I was trying to upload the image to the canvas directly from my desk top, not sure lol - Thank you for the help If I have that problem again I will be sure to remember this advice :)

The image you’re trying to print is a print then cut if that’s the message your getting. If you want to just cut you’ll need to select that from the drop down in the top left corner.

I cannot find the damask chip board or the heavy chip board in my material settings. The only thing in there is light chip board and that’s with the fine blade which does not work.

@@CraftingUnedited I also have that problem I'm using the maker and only have the light shipboard material,heavy shipboard 2.0 is there but not highlighted so not able to choose it

Apologies for the late response, if you go to the search and type in "chipboard" all the options are there except damask, for that you have to search "damask". I would send a screenshot but it won't allow me.

Search "chipboard" :) if you are not able to select it that means you have a different machine selected for your project. Go back and change the machine in the project. This was a new feature they added sometime recently.

I would say that's not the best chipboard though. 36 hours is never normal for any cut. I cut on play wood and it takes 30 minutes for that size

I think I figured out why it took so long. My Design Space needed an update and after I did that it dropped it to like 45 minutes, it was also the design I chose lol.
