Just a thought on the 'maidens' point: Maiden was in olden language often used to mean(/imply) a virgin. This could, *could*, be why Gertrude and The Dancer are referred to as Maidens, but Rosaria not. I can only guess that Gertrude and The Dancer didn't have children, since one was imprisoned and the other exiled, and any children in either case would probably suffer a similar (or at least mentioned) fate. But it is stated that Rosaria's tongue was stolen by her firstborn, so she definitely did have children.

What about Gwynevere being an ancestor or mother to the Queen of Lothric? Like you said, many years have passed since Dark Souls 1, so maybe Gwynevere and Flann founded Lothric? Notice, Prince Lorian's crown is designed with flames, and Flann's title is "Flame God Flann". It's possible that the Queen is one of the Heavenly Daughters.

I just feel like there's two many links between Gwynevere and Rosaria for them not to be the same person. Leanard brings her soul to Anor Londo, man grubs are near the cage of her daughter, she's a motherly diety, bountiful sunlight miracle, and of course the amazing chest.

I always thought the mass of flesh on Rosaria was her corrupted/deformed boddy. Never noticed that it was in fact a man-grubb that she was hugging x)

just realized that if Gertrude was blind how would she know that she was conversing with an angel, they may have just been perceived as angels and may have been something far more sinister, like the ravens or the serpents or maybe even the man grubs. just a possibility.

You know, since we never actually meet Gwynevere, the illusion we see in Anor London might be a complete fabrication. I know we have statues and paintings of her, but who can say that these aren't also lies?

One thing that keeps bothering me about Gwynevere isn't just that she's absent, she's _conspicously_ absent. We meet every member of Gwyn's family. Gwyn survived linking the flame, went hollow, but was still around. Nameless King? We meet him too. Gwyndolin was alive, well, and active in DS1 and is alive/was alive immediately prior to the start of the story. Filianore, we certainly make an impression with her. Gwynevere's nowhere. We also meet every single member of the Lothric royal family: Oceiros, Lorian, Lothric, Ocelot, and Gertrude's corpse. Gwynevere's nowhere. So who the hell's Rosaria?

I just need to point this out. The Cresent Moon Sword requires Titanite Scales to upgrade. This implies that the weapon was made from a powerful soul. Who that is is anyone's guess but it's interesting to know that Leonhard's possession of it points to him collecting the souls of blessed gods as trophies in some kind of twisted love and while the item description states that he inherited the Cresent Moon, it doesn't state how and who from. The wording in the item desription is misleading as it give the impression that he got it from Rosaria but looking at it plainly there is no confirmation that he did. Also I don't know if Leonhard has the Cresent Moon Sword before he kills Rosaria but if he doesn't, that in itself is an interesting factor to make note of as it cold imply other forces involved.

I'd like to suggest that the grubs may well be other individuals in the process of having their stats/appearance reconfigured. We somehow skip the full transformation since we only transform our stats. Also, great video. It flowed smoothly and was very comprehensive, though I suggest a lot of this is now relatively common knowledge and can be summarized with links to other videos while you go into your individual insights and variations vs. the other videos. You had some really good points regarding her, especially in the comparisons to Leonhard, but they were buried about 15min under establishing that yes, she's probably a daughter of Gwynevere.

Smoughtown, I personally believe, based in nothing but my convictions, that the angels send to Gertrude were by the orders of Gwynevere or her decendents, you know, to protect their family and stuff. Again, personally, I see no sense to the angels simply come from nowhere and talk to the only heavenly daughter found inside Lothric. Another point. If you are a finger, at some point, Ringfinger Leonhard murders Rosaria and on her body you find a black eye orb, to avenge her killer. It only works in one specific spot, that spot is Gwynevers chambers in the aldrich boss room in Anor Lando

Great video. Something else that links the man grubs to Gertrude is that if their saint bident spell hits you, it causes feathers to appear. I only just recently noticed this as they are super to avoid but I think it is super interesting....especially as even the ones outside Rosarias bed chamber have this effect, and since it is clearly the Saint Bident which belonged to Klimt, it could be that he was involved with the worship of angels - which just adds more questions but it seems to imply something significant.

5 years later, but as soon as you said "The Deep (i agree on this one) and The Dark are NOT good things", you lost me. I cannot understand how some people truly believe the gods and the light are the good side of Dark Souls. This mirrors Berserk perfectly, a series Miyazaki adores and took a lot of inspiration from. Guts, The Black Swordsman, is the good guy of the story. Shrouded in darkness, constantly battling external and internal demons. He is often consumed by his own darkness and lost for periods of time. But still, he is one of the last bastions of good in the world. Griffith, The Hawk of Light. A member of the Godhand. An angel. The embodiment of evil. A selfish man who cared only about being in power, and remaining there... No matter the cost. Ring a bell? Gwyn much? The gods were only ever interested in remaining in power, and have cursed humanity by binding their darkness within the light. An unnatural combination that lead to the undead curse, the negative side of hollowing, what we know as The Abyss (as it all formed after The Age of Dark was delayed indefinitely, breaking the natural order of things), etc. The dark is NOT evil. Its humanity at its purest form. But Gwyn cursed it, and prevented its age from coming to be. This broke the natural order of things and unbalanced the state of the world, giving birth to most negative things related to The Dark. It isnt that The Dark is evil, its that the world is reminding as constantly that what Gwyn did is not okay, and everything is falling apart because of it. The Dark is going to consume the light sooner or later, and the only way to let it do so while not letting it destroy everything in its way is by making sure the First Flame is never lit again. Consume it. And the curse of the world will be broken.

The only plausible deniability it’s not Gwynevere is Lothrics obsession with the “Old Era”. The Sun worship and similar description to Lothric Gods could, could, be Lothric taking the symbols of Anor Londo, and reusing them the same way Catholicism reused many local concepts to streamline it under Rome. In that example Anor Londo would be the scattered myths of Judaism, Greeces pantheon, Germanic Occult traditions etc. With Lothric being a later Empire that pulled from these earlier cultures to the point many concepts for “Gods” were copied. But at the same time, I lean towards Gwynevere, so we’ll stated.

I had this theory that Gwyn married Gwynevere to Flann - a demon king or demon prince - for political reasons (corroborated by some of the The Ringed City pre-release material), but I think you're right: she beats a hasty retreat from two failing kingdoms.

Good Stuff Smough... Do you think Gwynevere will play a role in the upcoming DLC? Is she the raven feathered humanoid who is peering into the 'lordvessel' type cauldron? If it's not her, what will her role be?

I do believe differently about Gwynevere being the queen. While you say Flann is gone you also must remember that Flann was a god, the same race as she was and therefor would still be alive or at least still be around so it wouldn't make sense for her to leave her husband when there was no reason to especially if she mothered several heavenly children. Now take note of the words "several heavenly children" because it plays an important role in what I'm about to say. To assume Flann is gone then you'd have to imagine how that would be possible for Gwynevere to still be alive but he gone. Also it would have to be explained why Gwynevere has last so long while her husband, a god like her, has died. It may be fair to say that maybe instead of her leaving his side, Gwynevere's child or a at the very least a descendant of Gwynevere had married the king and had the three children. After all, it is likely to assume that at least one of Gwynevere children had been gifted with the same powers as her mother before her. Now it is understandable why people would assume this would be Gwynevere considering the rings and such are an indicator but that is a lie. You see it is BECAUSE of the objects that proves it is not Gwynevere. You see in every explanation it is revealed that the objects represent the goddess of bounty and fertility. Note the words used. It is not Gwynevere's name that is used but her title and power. If it was her, then it would be stated so, since the players would already know the name and therefor not need a connection. But as we can see, it doesn't. There are no words that say Gwynevere, just a goddess of bounty and fertility. So it is more likely that the queen, the child of Gwynevere, knew of her mother's past and left when horrible things started to happen just as her mother did. There is enough to point to Gwynevere but if that is true then one must ask, if Flann is gone, why isn't she not with him? That of course is only my two cents here.

On an offhand thought, what if Leonard was someone serving the "goddess" Gwyndolin (the moon references, and he was raised like a female) mistaking him for a goddess- and may have been trying to bring rebirth (thus explaining why he's in Gwynevere's area above the Aldrich area) to Gwyndolin? Granted, this would mean he infiltrated the Fingers.

if gwyn had his children with the goddess of sin. it would explain gwyneveres tendency to create holy dragon offspring, a weapon against her father. like mother like daughter as the saying goes. perhaps it was gwynevere who created pricilla with seath to support her mothers cause in bringing the world into darkness. #VelkaIsReal

The cathedral worships two orbs that represent knowledge and experience. They are known as the Balls Deep Orbs. And rebirth is started with going balls deep
