In the wake of the new Top gun movie, we're out here trying out the new JF-17 Thunder against some F-18 Hornets, the objective is to take out 2 ships and to reach the ships we have to fight our way through 2 Hornets that are defending the ships.

That SD-10 yeeted me into another dimension... Great fight. Btw. I dropped my rack launchers while going cold to reduce drag and get more speed as they were just dead weight at that point. Also pretty sure the SD-10 has the proxy fuse enabled?

@UkraineStar77
@UkraineStar77 4 жыл бұрын
@@dan400919 Doubt it. Proxy fuses aren't really a thing in DCS anyway. Thing with the Hornet, it is fairly slow so a drag defense like this is't always your best option, especially against something like the SD-10 or AIM-54. You can get M1.3 - 1.4 out of it in a clean config on the deck but it takes some time to get to that speed. Surely not a F-16.

There won't be JF-17 Block 3 in the game... DIS denied the possibility for that for... obvious balance and secrecy issue.... If SD-10 was implemented realistically, PL-15 with its 150km+ range, multi pulse rocket motor (the missile will have sufficient energy in the terminal phase to catch you), two way data link (does not eat chaff) will probably spells an end to all other fighters in the game (or spells an end to Block 3 since it will get banned unanimously) The best of JF-17 to be in the game will be Block 2, with Block 1 (which can only fire IR missile) in some day.

I'll say that that's a mission failure; half of the main objectives plus the lost of a pilot and his/her plane...? i don't see that as a success; but it isn't a disaster. The mission presentation was really pimp IMO, had i think that kind of OFP Resistance vibe that i love so much, yeah, that was a clear success; and the mission setup was good enough, also, the JF-17s seem versatile enough for their range of operations. At 15:50 once you hit the ships with anti ship missiles try going for another pass and strafe that last one. The guns can pinatrate through the cargo ships hull if you hit it in the right spot. That's my only best guess. Because I've seen some people play dcs do stuff like that.

Old Soviet tactic in Afghanistan back in the '80's when they had a surplus of Air to Air missiles and were running out of Air to Ground ordinance was to drop flares low over the ground target and then fire a Fox 2 which would track on the flare and then hit the ground target. Risky? Yes, but it worked.

Seeing the ships respond to the cruise missile makes me wonder why we stopped using air dropped torpedoes. I feel like those could've made hits on target without alerting the ships. No, I thought same thing... And now for some strafing passes till Winchester, assuming you don't Epstein against possible CIWS. Hell, get all creative and dumb fire all remaining ordnance WW2 style at last ship, in hopes impact could detonate warheads. Worth a shot. Bare minimum, the harrassment has strong negative morale effect on enemy, and successive engagements give you momentum advantage. Assuming, in the brutality of war, you are very much trying to taunt them, right after wiping their sister ship out. What's a facefull of 20mm NOT good for, on the bridge of a Frigate?

@@alextrusty2585 As a former Uboat commander, I can advise to aim for the compartment under the funnel. That is the engine. Hit the waterline and flood the engine room, disable the ship and get a mission kill.

It's better to have 2 jf17 with air to air configuration protecting you on this mission, unfortunately it's a failure, you lost your wingman and didn't sank both cargo ships. But a really awesome video! Good job and Keep it up!

Hi, I’ve noticed in a lot of your videos you have a very high contrast cockpit, how did you do that?

Do you use a sound mod to get those explosion sounds or do you add them in the video because I don't think I have ever heard it like that.

@Bilal Ayub They r mainly for training, but they are much better option for fight too as one man control jet and other one can firearms. 2 can do work of 11 people u know

Quite an artificial setting, like in a vacuum, but you probably wanted more interesting 2v2 fight and it definitely was. Of course ideally hornets would have taken more fuel for longer on station time and it's the reason why tomcat could be better suited, so maybe cargo defender next time?

AIM-120 losing energy right behind was so cool. If you still had it I wonder if you dropped a fuel tank if the missile would track and impact it.

This is a mission success instead. Killed 2 f18 hornets and destroyed a ship. Lost one jf17 ... jf17 were 8 missiles against 20. That’s a very good score for jf17.
