I had a friend from Jamaica here in Pennsylvania, USA and he made me the best damn Jerk Chicken & Oxtail over a fire in his Carport one Summer and if we'd would've had this for dessert it would have been Da Bomb For Sure! Your version of Bread Pudding definitely has peaked my interest and I will be making soon with Jerk Chicken Dinner one evening real soon, you guys made me smile and think of my old friend Doug from Jamaica, he taught me how to trim hedges with a machete, Good Man!

My grandmother use to come from Virginia to visit us, and she knew that she was going to have to bake some Bread Pudding for us. And it was always very good. She made it the same way it was made in the video.

I had to look this up: Red Label Wine is a brand of fortified wine traditionally used but it may not be easy to find outside of Jamaica. A good substitute is ruby port wine such as Taylor's. The flavour is similar to Red Label Wine with a slightly sweeter flavour. Overproof rum is commonly used but any 80 proof white rum will also work.

As a kid I had a sweet Jamaican family next door & the Grandma made bread pudding. She sent over some to us & it was my 1st introduction to it. I was born anew. Ever since then I've longed for this but wasn't sure I'd be able to find it made just right. You guys have given me hope! Once my finances are good enough I have to make this. This is the real deal!

Should I say some children got it the easy way growing up? in my African culture where I come from, it is mandatory that you learn to cook, your mother will stick you in the kitchen with her, you mostly learned by watching your mother or an aunt or grandmother. many times you will have to cook for you and your siblings. By age 13, You have learned to prepare so many dishes and by the time you are 18 you are an expert in many local dishes . The video was interesting, will try this recipe too. Thanks for sharing.

Oh .. so many memories. Kitchen smells so aromatic. When the pudding sets it is dig in time. And I agree with the vanilla ice cream on the side. . I make bread pudding myself but soak everything together and I soak my raisin peach crown . With dice peaches in it... With all my ingredients, nutmeg vanilla flavor cinnamon eggs condensed sweetened milk in allspice

I’ve had different types of bread pudding or what we’d call “capirotada” ask any Mexican & they’ll know ! The best bread pudding I had was made with a bit of rum & bits of pecans ,oh so yummy! This dish is usually made during lent season but I guess anytime will do ! Beautiful parents , working together!❤

Beautiful bread pudding Mom. I'd never thought to use Bailey's Irish cream for bread pudding. I don't use raisins; I use bananas, golden delicious and granny smith apples. I'm definitely going to give this recipe a try.
