Here it was 2018, when he was invited back as a guest in the finale of The Singer, and Dimash was saluting the people in China who had become his fans after The Singer competition from 2017, by replacing two "I love you"s with the Mandarin translation "wǒ ài nǐ", and adding one in kazakh at the end, "men seni süyemin". And at the very end he thanked the audience in Mandarin, "fēicháng gǎnxiè" - 'thank you so much' :)

I literally stopped breathing the first time I heard Dimash singing this song. I was around when this was popular with Lionel Richie but I never felt quite as deeply connected to the song until I heard Dimash’s performance. I have three daughters and would be thrilled if any one of them brought someone even half of Dimash’s abilities home since they would also be incredible with half of what Dimash has! I'm always glad that I too am old enough to be Dimash's mom because you're right, I don't think I could bear it if I were his age!😆 He is entirely too beautiful!! His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and is also steeped in Kazakh folklore. Together they create magic. The flute is a traditional Qazaq instrument called a sybyzgy. Also, for those who may not already know, he sings “I love you” in three different languages. First in English, then twice in Mandarin, “wo ai ni” and at the end, in Qazaq, “men seni suyemin.” What he whispers at the very end is “fei chang gan xie” which is thank you very much in Mandarin.

When Dimash arranged this song he wanted to portray that "Love" isn't always a whisper.

There was an older man sitting in the back room called Tengri (who sings a song called Heaven, which is amazing) but he sings a duet with Dimash called Swan Goose, which is really fun. You may get to that one along the line. But another suggestion is Know, the vocalise version from the Arnau concert, it is amazing but you could do a double with Dimash singing Know, with the words. One is Hua Chenyu, whose song "Nunchucks" is a good place to start. Another is Tengri, whose song "Heaven" shows a lot of dynamic control. Another person not in that video is KZ Tandingan, whose unique cover of "Rolling In The Deep" won Episode 5. There is also a short video of Jessie J, who was going to go on next, watching Dimash from the wings. At the end of verses 2 + 3, Dimash sang "I love you" in Mandarin for the Chinese audience.

Like Opera 2, this is a song Dimash never sang again after this. The show didn't get permission from Ritchie for it to be sung and he was not happy about it and again Dimash outshone the original. Imagine - this is an iconic Lionel Ritchie song that hit #1 on the charts for him, and you have this young kid from overseas blow it out of the water! Anyway, apparently Ritchie won't give Dimash permission to sing it again.
