I think GW have really hated the name recognition that employees were able to create historically. Duncan and Peachy are just the most recent examples. I think they’ve had a problem with the name recognition of Warlord employees for a long while. (Rick Priestly, Paul Sawyer, Perry Twins, John Stallard, Andy Chambers, etc) It’s almost like Warlord is an enjoyable place to work! 🤔

Peachy has spoken about this on an episode of The Painting Phase podcast a few weeks ago. There are definitely some people who are getting credit for their painting tutorials because I see people thanking specific tutorial people online. I also do remember the one guy who worked for GW who was basically harassed off the internet and it even effected his future employment...which Peachy also talks about.

Just to mention Bø Telstrup (founded army painter after being a sales guy for GW), Alessio Cavatore, Andy Chambers, Toumas Pirinen, who all left and joined or created competitors - GW is not a good employer for actual talent. Except for like when you basically started the thing (Priestley, Blanche, Goodwyn, Johnson) apparently.

I could talk a lot about the importance of crediting creatives and other workers. But after that ad spot, all I can think of is OOZE. Fun fact: when I was first getting into miniatures, I toyed with the idea of an all-slime army. Maybe make some molds, so I could churn out tons of minis quickly. Then make some custom rules for Age of Fantasy. Never got beyond the idea stage, but I always liked the idea of such an esoteric army. Evidently, Dragon Trappers Lodge had the same stroke of genius, and actually did something with it. Designed better minis than I could ever produce. Good for them. I hope to see a lot of folks using them going forward.

I don't usually comment on the sponsored bit, but those ooze minis are something that deserves to be printed in transparent resin.

Yep, speak with your wallets. I got tired of being mistreated in the store by the "manager" so I just stopped buying GW products. In the long run of things, 1 person may not be able to affect the bottom line, but a score of people definitely can. Although, knowing GW habits, they will just raise prices to recoup the losses from the next pod of whales coming in.

Actors use their movies and TV shows to build their brand and followers, which then allows them to get more work. Gamesworkshop is just acting in an authoritarian way to control people, who in other places in our society, would be acting perfectly reasonably, in order to build a career around what they are good at.

Games Workshop uses servitors not robots.

I reckon Duncan (and Peachy) played a massive part in the resurgence of GW. A wiser business would have paid them more to keep them close.

I've played 40k off and on for every edition since 2nd, but this last year finally was the snapping point for me with the insane prices for models, steady and monstrous rules bloat that *required* buying multiple books every six months just to be able to play the base game, and GW just absolutely disrespecting their creatives. I still love the lore and universe they've created, but now I 3d print and play Grimdark Future instead. And yes, my W+ was very recently cancelled and I don't even pick up a monthly WD to see what's what.

I feel whoever is calling the shots over there at GW really has no Flippin clue what they are doing. All of the best painting tutorials, lore videos, news and rumor videos, etc are all on KZfaq. They are the best because they have great presenters who are fun to watch and relate to. For example, not one single Eavy Metal video has ever inspired me, but Ninjon has with his friendly, helpful, funny, and informative videos. Even his catchphrase "Slay the Gray" is like a rally cry bolstering my confidence to finally paint that pile of shame.

It pissed me off that there were no credits at the end of anything on Warhammer+. It's like those series were produced by The Borg and individuals were not involved.

Say good-bye to GW and get into 3D printing and play literally any OTHER game, so they don't get a penny of your hard earned money. I got a 4K 1 year ago, which now costs around 160€... I also have 2 patreons running that supply close to 80 brand new fantasy miniatures to me every month. 1l of resin goes a long way printing those grey buggers and the price of resin goes down. I used to spend between around 3.000 € per year on GW models and books. I tallied it all up. Since I got into 3D printing I spent about 1.300 € in a year including the printer, resin, accessories, STL files and additional paint) and printed... wait for it. Close to 400 minis (including big monsters and vehicules). Had I bought the same 400 minis from GW I would have spent probably anywhere between 3K and 4K... And I am playing more games more frequently, cause if I fancy a new/additional unit/army... Well I have them at my fingertips and on the table (albeit unpainted) in 8 hours, without even having to get up from my office chair... And the sculpts of those models are often times way better than GW. They need to change and quickly, rather than increasing prices and milking the public for every cent they can get.

I laughed a bit too much at the threatening video. Then went and subscribed to Warhammer+ so that I could unsubscribe to give them my own message. Also, I now know one fact about Kevin Rowntree.

When I worked full time in the gw design studio around the time they pulled all creative credits I had to sign away my right to freelance in the Games industry. We got an updated contract and payment of £1 to make it a legal transaction. Not many of us actually did anything but it was around the time kickstarter was picking up but we all got locked down with the new contract probably as a precaution. For some reason a few old timers like Jervis Johnson and Aly Morrison were able to still work on side projects.

An oooze army i didn’t know I needed that until now

This crap started back in 1998, During the hire and fire shake up I happened to be apart of. After that small seeds were planted, precise removal of key associates. Eventually the "we target young boys 12-15 with a 5 year rotation" Became "we target whales in the extra expendable income bracket, with a rotation of..." Sucks when you can see what is going to happen and are powerless to stop it.

I was super disappointed when they changed their paint tutorial videos. I'm not saying they were prime vids but they were interesting to learn some quick techniques.
