Well my saga started back on Dec 22 playing softball, am 56 yrs..I hit a single between LF and CF and saw the outfielder dropping the ball and I went to second base and after reaching the bag, felt a burning sensation in my heel. After the game was over, took a shower, relax in my recliner for an hour, decided to walk to the kitchen and that first step was extremely painful, decided to relax for couples of days, went back to my games, played again after each inning the pain was increasing, by the end of the game I was pretty much in one leg…went back home put ice on the heel, thinking was maybe a heel spur , made an appointment with a local podiatrist, took XRay and it was not a heel spur, diagnosed as plantar fasciitis. I went immediately on the 3 cortisone shots, they took some pain away but did not fixed my problem, went for physical therapies and it was turning into more painful experience, I went to my primary doctor, explained him my problem, I was going to the gym 3 times per week, ride bicycle, walk etc… consider myself an active person…my primary doctor ordered an MRI on my left foot and bang!…a tear on the middle plantar fascia was shown on the images. Went again to the Podiatrist with the MRI images and placed me on a 4 -6week boot and started PRP treatment, right now I’m off the boot walking again with new insoles made for my foot but still have that weird sensation on my heel, like something is in there, like a small pebble on my heel. Next MRI will be in couples of weeks to see if surgery is needed cause calcification was created due to a lot of syringes entering into my aphasia. Let’s see how this goes…can’t run yet but I feel I can do it but haven’t receives yet the green light to return back to normal activities…probably will do physical therapy and hit back the gym …but will take time to heal…it’s Jun 2023 and still having issues. If this doctor wants to see me I will visit him with all my images but my next MRI will show my destination…hope will end there.

Oh wow... THIS is why they say athletes should find doctors who specialize in active people!! I need a doctor like you in my life! Newly subscribed, and wondering where you're located? Edit: just went to your website, fantastic! Thanks!

Thanks so much for watching and glad you are finding the info useful! I do Telemedicine visits for runners in California and Texas. But most of what I would teach to you (and the processes I use with runners) is in large part all available through the website. Heal fast!!!

Would you be able to link the inconvenient routine you mentioned to cure a partially torn plantar fascia? I haven't been able to locate it on your channel. I had an MRI showing a partially torn PF. Thanks.

I haven’t been to the doc yet but I felt a snap and immediately fell, now it’s swollen and bruised and I can’t walk on it. It’s crazy to think about running with this.

I hope you’re still reading these comments, I am a boxer with a partial tear after a very long sparring session. I’m assuming the extra stress my lateral movement puts on the fascia means I should just rest from the boxing instead of trying to push through? Hard to get straight answers about sports medicine I appreciate this channel.

@@DocOnTheRun yeah it did heal, I had to take an enforced break anyway since I’m a chef and I started at a new place so no time for sports working 6 days a week 12 hours a day but I have started boxing again recently and it’s been solid so far. Thanks for following up doc 🙏

I am very confused with all the different medical advice, and i can't really find much clinical data about running with PF partial tears. It would be great to have references here.

@@DocOnTheRun Surgeon says, air cast is 4 weeks, can walk, and bike, no weight bearing, feel it out. Sport physician says, injections and 8-9 weeks. FP Physician says 4 weeks air cast and no weight bearing, UNTIL the ultrasound and/or MRI shows no hole, or no tear. I had worn the air cast about 9 weeks, biked daily, walked daily w cast. Then took it off for 4 weeks after, but avoided weight bearing. Diagnostic showed tear went from about 9mm x 6 mm to 5 x 3mm after the air cast 9 weeks. So i used a night splint too, however in the last 6 weeks, there is no closure, its same size 5 x 3 mm. So now for past 2 weeks back in air cast for total 4 weeks, 2 more weeks to go, and i will be super careful not to stretch too much, or do lunges or any weight bearing until the next diagnostic in 4 weeks. Wondering how ridiculous this is with all the medical advancement there is still no proper treatments, or efficacious advice across the discipline. Unlike other athletic or physical injuries. I am very athletic by the way and mid aged.
@DocOnTheRun

@@emreon3160 I can understand your frustration! It may seem like there is no consensus across the disciplines. But with what you describe...there isn't...it certainly sounds like the Family Practice doctor and the Surgeon are working in isolation, rather than together in your case.
