Have you ever used Lyft's Priority Mode? It promises drivers the potential to earn more, but does that promise really hold up?

I think it's hilarious that Lyft restricts priority mode to higher reward tiers as if you've actually earned something helpful. It's a huge trap. It doesn't matter if you make money faster if you also lose money faster at the same time.

I’ve used priority mode for about 20 hours and made a little over $12 per hour. Lyft actually had the nerve to say that I made more than I would have without it

But I thought whoever is the closest driver gets the ping. This means they can pick and choose who gets more rides so who’s to say we aren’t being throttled and shadowbanned 🤨🤔

My experience has been that without using priority mode, I get no ride requests. Once i turn it on, I am inundated with ridiculously low paying requests. A few weeks ago, I used it for 30 hours and made 25% less than prior weeks. I'd rather not drive than break even. It sucks. Lyft sucks.

Detroit Market: I use it only when it’s stupid slow or I can’t get in a good ride groove. Also if I’m trying to get a bonus and I need to pad my rides. It’s not that great tbh

I have a 3 hour gap in the afternoon between jobs. I’ll jump on priority mode then but rarely use it outside of Tuesday/ Wednesday afternoons.

So Ive used this a few times and the difference is pretty big vs hourly even when they say you will make more money dont believe it unless you have a bonus already or some kind of quest going on that makes sense. Example my average standard rates I accept are 30$ or higher and can usually find those rides without priority mode. Turn on priority and it pulls further rides and reduces how much money im making to 20-23$. Not worth it during regular hours that are normally busy anyways just shuffle between Uber and Lyft.

This is consistent with other drivers I trust. They say it's great when it's dead but bad when it's normal or busy. I think it's a great tool to have, just in case, but it's not a tool id want to use often. Because that means im in a bad market.

Lyft gave me Priority mode when I was a Gold driver, I drive in NJ and it is my experience is that when I turn on that feature I get a lot of low paying rides which sucks. I did notice that when I turned it off in the busy times I don’t get as much ride request forcing me to turn it back on to get rides. Tuesday is the slowest day for me and it’s the only day I use it.

❤❤❤Lyft is my market DOES not make SENSE! The pay is SUPER low, and MOST rides do not make a profitable sense! These low ball fares do not even pay minimum wage! Even if I get a half decent requests, I must stop future requests because David will continue to fill my que with a low ball fare whenever I forget to turn off the unprofitable next ride!

I think we need to change our habits, especially if you are a full time driver. If it slow, do another hustle. If you are not multi-apping then you are doing everything wrong... Also, why are they giving priority mode to the higher tier, drivers? This seems like a punishment than a perk. They should offer this to the part time drivers, rather than to the full time drivers. The platinum and elite drivers should have access to the higher paying rides.

lyft deactivated my account yesterday after i accepted a far distance ride something like someone else was trying to access my account. So i emailed them telling them i have no idea on whats going on and they eventually gave me my account back. Is this a common thing they do.

I don’t know anything about Priority Mode here in Arizona. But! What I do know, I drive Lyft Black, 95% of my riders only paid the regular Lyft price (no driver in the area), so Lyft eats the cost and pays me the Black rate pay, while the passenger is paying regular price. I have no clue why they are doing it but I am banking!

Not here in Phoenix! We have 300, 000 Somalians in the queues 🤣. I stay away frim the airport here and “clean up the crumbs!” Key in AZ… when I see a surge… drive through it, lock it in, drive out! Go to the black (no surge) or we call “Pink to the Stink”, you will nail rides.
