Its actually Alain Prost that brought Senna to Mclaren, he said it himself in an interview that he recommended Senna for the benefit of the team. keep in mind he didnt know about Senna that much at that time. Edit: I might add that you guys sort of mixed up the details of Senna and Prost’s agreement in Imola since it was Prost that led through the first turn and Senna agreed to stand down only to break that promise later after the restart since Senna said: the agreement only counted in the race start NOT the restart

Senna liked to play with fire. He got away with that move several times thinking Prost would once again back down. Prost basically had enough and showed Senna he wasn't going to do it any more. This goes back to the beginning of racing. It was just racing. But almost 2 and a half decades later the FIA created rules that would have penalized Senna driving style and Prost in this specific crash. FIA regs 27.5, 27.6, and 27.8 addressed this issue. Walter Röhrl story would be a cool. 1988 SCCA Trans Am Niagara Falls Grand Prix

The Documentary was harsh to Prost, Senna and Prost actually had great respect and were really friends towards the end. Dont take that doc to really get Prost. He was not as portrayed in the doc, I feel he was kind of slandered a bit in that doc. At the time Prost was quite likeable, he was always a good dude for interviews. Its not the same as Senna, imo Senna is THE goat, he is my motorsport hero, and had mad charisma, I watched the race he died in (he died a day before my birthday) I adored Senna, If anyone would be willing to hate on Prost ...it's me...but Prost was a decent guy as far as I could tell

I really enjoyed this episode, as I always do all Donut podcasts. Great to hear you guys and your interpretation of events. It brought back a lot of fond memories for me as a kid. One of my earliest childhood memories was going downstairs at 7 or 8 years old at 5 in the morning (I’m in the UK) to watch the Suzuka grand prix in 1990. It was classic duvet on the sofa stuff, and I can remember being so excited. My whole family got up. We were Senna fans, but he totally took Prost off that day. It was like a Mike Tyson fight, the whole thing was over in about ten seconds. My old man took me to the British Grand Prix in ’90, ’91 and ’92. I was a huge Mansell fan as a kid. (You guys keep pronouncing his name incorrectly!). How lucky was I to see Senna race! I’ve not listened to next week yet; I hope you mention Mansell vs. Senna at Monaco in ’92. Phenomenal! Senna didn't have the car in '92; the Williams was way faster. I’m saving listening the last episode until next week when I take my boy for a walk in his buggy and I’m looking forward to it. That’s going to emotional. Keep it up, I love it!

I mean what if Jesus died as an old man? But no dumb ass he died as a champion on top of his game. Like a samurai in battle. He’s a legend. So shut the fuck up and be respectful.

I love listening to you guys... But this episode is a bit suspect. I get it you guys love Senna, but just like the documentary , you guys are focusing on one side of the story and not being fair to the other party, Prost, which is arguably considered by many including Bernie Ecclestone when recently asked, as the best driver of all time ... Senna was great , but Prost was much more the consistent sure bet vs Senna which you had to worry more about throwing away a race in the middle of lapping a guy, or just flat out driving the car to the ground instead of nursing it home... You guys didn't mention that Senna won the 88 title only because the 11 best results counted towards the championship, but Prost scored more points throughout the year... The suzuka 89 crash, Senna's wheel never made it past Prost's helmet at the moment of impact, meaning if Senna was going straight and Prost turning in, how far was Senna back from Prost when Prost started to turn in? ... 90 Suzuka, what sense does it make sense for you to get Pole position and then request for the line to be switched from the side that it's been every year? Wouldn't it make to request that before you qualify? What if Prost purposely didn't get Pole to start on the clean side of the track, would it make sense to switch it then?....
