After Doris had passed away back in 1992, her other daughter Patti continued the fight to keep those Manson Family animals behind bars. But then Patti died of breast cancer back in 2000 at the age of 43. Now Doris' other daughter Debra, is still continuing the fight to keep those animals locked up forever. Sadly, Debra is now the only surviving member of the Tate family.

she really was, and she definitely endured a lot of pain after Sharon's death and for the rest of her life. But she also had a way of coping with the pain and she did that by participating in these organizations and teaching others right from wrong and I really respected her a lot for doing that and being so dedicated, and I think it was a great loss when she passed!

@@mds2465: When she was at Tex Watson's parole hearing she asked him "What mercy sir did you show my daughter when she was begging for her life? Will these seven victims, and possibly more, going to walk out of their graves? When will I come up for parole? Can you tell me that?" We need more people like her to speak out for the victims of these terrible crimes. As well as to keep these criminals behind bars once and for all.

This is in poor taste. Guess the mother of the murdered actress Sharon Tate?!!! Doris Tate did a lot of good work in the name of her daughter. Someone took advantage of Doris with this game show. She had other platforms which were of better use to her in creating awareness. Hollywood never fails to do tasteless things.

Hold on here , Doris made it her goal in life to get out the word to protect victims rights . The public is in danger because we spend all our time giving the killers attention when little time is spent thinking of the victims . The families have to attend parole hearings every 2-5 yrs to keep prisoners in prison . Sharon was served a life sentence and the killers shouldn’t be paroled - not first degree murder. Doris is even willing to go on a national game show to bring awareness to public of her daughter’s killers deeds so that they stay behind bars . To say oh ,Pooh this is in bad tastes may make you feel superior but you should be ashamed of yourselves for being critical of a mother who lost their daughter this way - her intention is to bring awareness to public of the killers deeds so that the fuss doesn’t die down so that the parole boards lets them out .before you get on your high horse stop and consider why she went on TV- she loved her daughter and was willing to anything to honor her life .

@@lenwelch2195 what a waste of energy it was to read your comment. I was/am referring to the producers. or producer whose idea it was to extend an offer to her. She should have been on Firing Line or shows of that caliber. and yes she did attend parole hearings etc and was devoted to that. nevertheless, I would be surprised to learn that it was her idea in the first place. [I've been surprised before]

@@jv-ep2tcthe main point was that a discussion was made and attention to this subject occurred 34 years after this show was taped , now so the point is made that being a part of this show had legs , furthered the discussion which was the point of her appearing on the show- to publicize victims rights and the damaging effects that murder has on the families of the victims.

Poor Sharon! The murders that took place on August 8th and 9th of 1969 have become like cult classics of true horror. The way it went down that night is absolutely terrifying. TERRIFYING! Doris Tate is a mother who wanted to keep her daughters murderers in prison. I think it is so unfair that these people get to get another shot at life. They've been in prison since 1971. One of the women, either Krenwinkle or Van Houten, have gotten paroled... I think! I hope not but this system is very unfair towards victims and that's why Doris started her organization. She's a great lady!

@@jaya.0069 Hi there! I saw your comment and I wondered if you knew that John Thomas Kummer a/k/a Jay Sebring, was born in Fairfield, Alabama ( a suburb of Birmingham)? It is just a weird tie in, (IMO) for lack of better words, that Krenwinkle, while not born there, had flee'd CaLifornia, and took off back to ' Bama and took refuge at her aunt's house where prior to the murders she had went to high school for a bit. She was ARRESTED, and eventually extradited from a state where her victim, Sebring, was born. It took almost 3 months to get her back to CA, due to red tape about the Lt. Governor signing the papers, and not Ronald Reagan. Also, Sharon Tate was born in Dallas, Texas, and then you have Tex Watson, who brutally murdered her, was also from Dallas, Texas. (Jay's family later moved to Detroit, MI, and he was raised there and went to school) It's just things can be weirdly connected sometimes. Just fyi'n on a Sunday morning.🧐🙃
